In organizations, evaluating the competency of individuals through the position or status has many limitations. To overcome these limitations, this study analyzes the organization's informal network using social network analysis. We measured out-degree centrality and in-degree centrality by making use of social network analysis technique. Out-degree centrality is interpreted as 'madangbal' in that actors actively help other people, while in-degree centrality is interpreted as 'prestige' in that other people want to have a relationship with. This research examines the effects of individual's 'prestige' and 'madangbal' in the instrumental network and communication network on IT competency. We carried out empirical analysis using social network data that were collected from undergraduate students. The result reveals that relationship between IT competency and centrality in the instrumental network is statistically significant, while relationship between IT competency and centrality in the communication network does not show significant results.
Objectives: The challenging issue of public health program is to strengthen partnership and network between health resources. This study identified the structure and characteristics of school health program network. Methods: In this paper we collected data from schools and organizations in 4 local communities in 2014 that participated to school health program. Using social network analysis techniques we measured the number of component, diameter, density, average degree, node centralization for each network. Results: We determined that networks shared some common organizational structure such as less density, low average degree, and short diameter. Networks were dominated by the health center, and directions of collaborations between nodes were mostly one-way. Conclusions: These findings can help to depict the network of school health program. The further research is necessary to define causal relationship between network effectiveness and public health outcomes.

In this paper, we propose the realtime network traffic monitoring system usin SNMP that can supported network and system operation, management, expansion, and design using network analysis and diagnosis to a network administrator. The proposed system consists of two parts: analysis server for collection and analysis of the network information, and supports real-time monitoring of network traffic, and client system shows user a graphical data that analyzed a returned result from the server. This system implements web-based technology using Java and contributes to enhance the effectiveness of network administrator's management.
In this work, a fuzzy neural network is used to estimate the relevant sensor signal using other sensor signals. Noise components in input signals into the fuzzy neural network are removed through the wavelet denoising technique . Principal component analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimension of an input space without losing a significant amount of information. A lower dimensional input space will also usually reduce the time necessary to train a fuzzy-neural network. Also, the principal component analysis makes easy the selection of the input signals into the fuzzy neural network. The fuzzy neural network parameters are optimized by two learning methods. A genetic algorithm is used to optimize the antecedent parameters of the fuzzy neural network and a least-squares algorithm is used to solve the consequent parameters. The proposed algorithm was verified through the application to the pressurizer water level and the hot-leg flowrate measurements in pressurized water reactors.

Earthquakes are natural disasters that cause serious social disruptions and economic losses. In particular, they have a significant impact on critical lifeline infrastructure such as urban water transmission networks. Therefore, it is important to predict network performance and provide an alternative that minimizes the damage by considering the factors affecting lifeline structures. This paper proposes a probabilistic reliability approach for post-hazard flow analysis of a water transmission network according to earthquake magnitude, pipeline deterioration, and interdependency between pumping plants and 154 kV substations. The model is composed of the following three phases: (1) generation of input ground motion considering spatial correlation, (2) updating the revised nodal demands, and (3) calculation of available nodal demands. Accordingly, a computer code was developed to perform the hydraulic analysis and numerical modelling of water facilities. For numerical simulation, an actual water transmission network was considered and the epicenter was determined from historical earthquake data. To evaluate the network performance, flow-based performance indicators such as system serviceability, nodal serviceability, and mean normal status rate were introduced. The results from the proposed approach quantitatively show that the water network is significantly affected by not only the magnitude of the earthquake but the interdependency and pipeline deterioration.
This paper discusses applications of neural network to stand stocking control problems. The scope of this research was to develop a neural network model for finding optimal stand management regimes and examining the performance of the model for field application. Performance was analyzed in consideration of the number of training examples and structural aspects of neural network. Research on network performance was based on extensive optimization studies for pure longleaf pine(Pinus palustris) stands. For experimental purposes. an existing nonlinear even-aged stand optimization model with a whole-stand growth and yield simulator was used to generate data samples required for the performance analysis.
Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the potential of sematic network analysis for design research. Background: As HCD (Human-Centered Design) was emphasized, lots of design research methodologies were developed and used in order to find user needs. However, it is still difficult to discover users' latent needs. This study suggests the semantic network analysis as a complementary means for design research, and proved its potential through the practical application, which compares multi-screen purchase and usage behaviors between America and China. Method: We conducted an in-depth interview with 32 consumers from USA and China, and analyzed interview texts through semantic network analysis. Cross cultural differences in purchase and usage behaviors were investigated, based on measuring centrality and community modularity of devices, functions, key buying factors and brands. Results: Americans use more services and functions in the multi-screen environment, compared to Chinese. As a device substitutes other devices, traditional boundaries of the devices are disappearing in the USA. Americans consider function to recall Apple, but Chinese consider function, design and brand to recall Apple, Sony and Samsung as an important brand at the time of their purchase. Conclusion: This study shows the potential of semantic network analysis for design research through the practical application. Semantic network analysis presents how the concepts regarding a theme are structured in the cognitive map of users with visual images and quantitative data. Therefore, it can complement the qualitative analysis of the existing design research. Application: As the design environment becomes more and more complicated like multi-screen environment, semantic network analysis, which is able to provide design insights in the intuitive and holistic perspective, will be acknowledged as an effective tool for further design research.

Network analysis applications in energy management systems play a key role in the economic and reliable operation of power systems. In order to provide operators with useful network information, the accurate results of topology processing, state estimation, power flow, and contingency analysis must be simulated. This paper proposes a validation methodology of network analysis applications in energy management systems. The energy management systems was checked to ensure that it meets the originally specified functions based on the proposed methodology. In addition, the performance of state estimation is evaluated with the reference of the proposed methodology. The proposed methodology is being conducted by energy management systems and the Korean power systems have been utilized for the test systems.
This study analyzes a language network of Science and Technology Basic Plan, which is the basis for science and technology policy in Korea, for the next Science and Technology Basic Plan. Language network analysis was adopted for a quantitative approach measuring the trend of policies. Several techniques such as keyword analysis, language network map analysis, quantitative characteristics analysis and keyword-related major-word analysis have been performed. Results show that there are common policies emphasized by all Science and Technology Basic Plans in the past, and there are also specific policies emphasized in each period of the Science and Technology Basic Plan. These specific policies come from a 'change of times' when the Science and Technology Basic Plans were established, as well as the philosophy of the national government.
