  • While magpies are making their nest and are laying eggs from February to May time frame, the electrical power incidents by magpies are as high as 30% of all. This research will examine the establishment of frequency of magpies by utilizing Alarm Calls with their own voice characteristic and also try avoiding access to distribution equipments in order to prevent from constructing their nests on the distribution lines. This research results contribute to improve the reliability in the power distribution line.

  • Great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) have been growing on a large scale since they settled on Jokja Island in Lake Paldang in 2010. In 2017, 827 breeding nests were found in Jokja Island and the breeding success rate was $2.60{\pm}0.23$ per nest. Nestling tree did not show any specificity for the species and was severely damaged. As the nesting materials for cormorants, branches and leaves, which were easy to come by around the island, were used. Most of their prey were fish in Lake Paldang. The population the great cormorants showed high breeding success rate, indicating that Jokja Island was a good site for breeding. Thus, it shows that continuous research for them needs to be done.

  • For last 150 years, blackbirds have moved from their ancestral habitat, the woodland edge, to man-made habitats such as farmland, parks and gardens. These alternative habitats have become one of main blackbird habitats. I compared density of nests and blackbirds in parks, woodland and campus of University of East Anglia to investigate habitat preference. Blackbirds preferred the area covered by $10\sim50%$ of tree or bush patches for their foraging and nesting sites. Blackbirds were more frequently found near buildings rather than far from buildings. Nest characteristics did not affect predation rate and nest preference. This study suggests that man-made habitats may be important for avoiding predation.

  • The midgut epithelium of Indian honey bee Apis cerana indica is consist of digestive cells and small regenerative cells. The regenerative cells are placed in the nests scattered among the digestive cells. During metamorphosis the midgut of Apis cerana indica is remodeled. The larval midgut epithelium and muscular sheath digested partially at the end of larval period and thrown out in the form of debris in the lumen. The new epithelium is formed by the proliferation of the regenerative cells and during pupation reorganization of midgut layer occurs. The ultrastuctural studies shows that the regenerative cells are in contact with degenerative cells by the cytoplasmic extension which have many septed and gap junctions in the fifth instar larvae. In developing pupae reorganization of the midgut epithelium is continued whereas in the pharate adult the midgut wall shows, characteristic of adult midgut epithelium with pycnotic nuclei in some cells.

  • A marine red algal species was collected from Uljin, located on the eastern coast of Korea, during a survey of marine algal flora. This alga shares the generic features of Plocamium, and is characterized by linear, flat and thin thalli with narrow axes, branches developing in alternating pairs from margins of the axes, two to four times alternately pinnately branching, linear or occasionally adaxially curved lowermost branchlets and distinctly and compactly clustered stichidia. In a phylogenetic tree based on rbcL sequences, the Korean alga nests in the same clade as P. serrulatum. The genetic distance between both sequences within the clade was calculated as 0.0-0.2%. Based on the morphological and molecular data, this Korean species is identified as P. serrulatum described originally from Taiwan. This is the first record of P. serrulatum in Korean marine algal flora.

  • A marine red algal species was collected from Honghyeon-ri, Namhae located on the southern coast of Korea during a survey of marine algal flora. This alga shares the generic features of Chondrus, and is characterized by short and thin, canaliculated and crisped fronds as C. retortus. Tetrasporangia are developed from shallow medullary cells on both sides of branches. In a phylogenetic tree based on rbcL sequences, the Korean alga nests in the same clade as C. retortus originally described from Japan. The genetic distance between both sequences within the clade was calculated as 0.0-0.1%. Based on the morphological and molecular data, the alga is identified as Chondrus retortus. This is the first record of C. retortus in Korean marine algal flora.

  • Lymphoepithelial carcinoma, also known as malignant lymphoepithelial lesion or lymphoepithelioma, is a rare tumor in salivary glands. Lymphoepithelial carcinoma has a characteristic histological findings comprising irregularly-shaped nests of malignant epithelial cells within a lymphocyte-rich stroma, occasionally forming lymphoid follicles. We recently experienced a case of fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) of lymphoepithelial carcinoma of parotid gland in a 61-year-old male. The FNAC yielded a hypercellular smear of many irregular clusters of malignant epithelial cells in the background of lymphoid stroma.

  • The ecology of house swallow is closely related to the humans life because their life depend on the human settlements conditions and environments. 30 years ago house swallows are very common at the country side, but recently they are very rare. Almost the number of house swallows decrease as 1 of hundredth during 20 years. Why this dramatic population decrease are happening in the ecology of house swallow? The Population size impacted by many factors such as nesting, breeding, feeding, returning. The objective of this paper is to analyse the population dynamics of the ecology of House Swallow. This paper focuses on the important ecological changes-nests, foods, and return rates from wintering area-associated with recent country side development. In this paper, we explore the feedback loops of population dynamics and simulate the policy scenario model.

  • Mikulicz's disease is an autoimmune disorder characterized by asymptomatic chronic swelling of the salivary gland or lacrimal gland. It is also called as a benign lymphoepithelial lesion. The clinical manifestations are usually bilateral and symmetric. The diagnosis is confirmed by only histopathologic finding. Microscopically, the lymphoid infiltration and epimyoepithelial island appear as the solid nests surrounded and infiltrated by lymphoid cells. The treatment is symptomatic, but the patients are at an increased risk for the development of malignant lymphoma. So it need a careful observation.

  • Well bordered solid enlarged 16.7x9.7x8 cm in the size neoplasma was found in a 7-year-old lioness without any clinical signs of diseases in Chonju city zoo and surgically removed. Simple lobes were separated by pale gray yellowish fibrous tissue. The tumor parenchyma was yellowish with numerous cysts, necrotic foci and hemorrhages. Histologically neoplasma was composed of cell nests different in the size and shape with high mitotic activity. Slow invasive spreading on the border was observed. Formation of the narrow ductular lumina bordered the flattened cells leading to keratinization was seen in some places. It was noted by supplemental clinical investigations, that the tumor did not metastasized to other organs. This tumor is considered to be a sample of a malignant tumor without metastatic spreading and was note described in literature yet.
