M/G/1 복수 휴가 모델을 이용한 IEEE 802.16e 무선 MAN 수면모드 작동에 대한 성능분석

  • In this paper, an analytic model of sleep model operation in the IEEE 802.16e is investigated. A mobile subscribe. station (MSS) goes to sleep mode after negotiations with the base station (BS) and wakes up periodically for a short interval to check whether there is downlink traffic to it. If the arrival of traffic is notified, an MSS returns to wake mode. Otherwise, it again enters increased sleep interval which is double as the previous one. In order to consider the situation more practically, we propose the sleep mode starting threshold, during which MSS should await packets before it enters the sleep mode. By modifying the M/G/1 with multiple vacations model, energy consumption ratio(ECR) and average packet response time are calculated. Our analytic model provides potential guidance in determining the optimal parameters values such as sleep mode starting threshold, minimal sleep and maximal sleep window.

The New Landscape of Trade Policy and Korea's Choices

  • Two mega-regional negotiations are changing the landscape of Asia Pacific trade policy: an Asian track centered on ASEAN (the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership or RCEP), and a Trans-Pacific track centered on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) among 12 economies, including the United States, which Korea is expected to join. Modeling results suggest that both would generate substantial benefits for Korea and the global economy. From Korea's viewpoint, the agreements would establish new FTAs with China, Japan and smaller economies, improve the utilization of FTAs by permitting the regional cumulation of inputs, and help to upgrade some Korean FTAs to more rigorous standards. By participating in these agreements, Korea could also help to guide them toward inclusive, high-quality regional outcomes. As one of the region's most open and agile economies, Korea has a large stake in regional integration and would be well advised to pursue both tracks.

  • The rapid expansion of the Internet-related technology has changed the current commercial transaction process. In the physical commercial transaction, most deals are accomplished through the negotiation process except a fixed price system. Thus, the negotiation is essential to conclude the business transactions. Especially, under the e-commerce environment, an automated negotiation system is necessary to respond quickly and flexibly to the diverse environmental changes and also to perform negotiations consistently and effectively. To this end, we develop an automated negotiation system using multi-agent technology. This new system includes such functions as creating negotiation proposals automatically, evaluating the counterpart’ proposals, and preparing counter offers.

Inequality Analysis and Sub-group Decomposition of the World Maize Self-sufficiency Rates (세계 옥수수 자급률의 국가 간 불균등도 및 국가그룹별 비교분석)

  • This paper aims to analyze inequality of maize self-sufficiency rate among countries in 1970-2011. Utilizing sub-group consistency of Generalized Entropy and Atkinson inequality index, the estimated maize self-sufficiency rate inequality is further decomposed into two steps' separate country groups. First, lower and upper income groups and then lower, lower middle, upper middle and high income groups are used based on the national classification of the world bank. It is inferred that 1980s' policy intervention and 1990s' Uruguay Round negotiations have different effect on the inequality among four different country groups.

An Argument-based Approach to Manage Collaborative Negotiations in Software Systems Design

  • To manage collaborative negotiation in software system design, we have built a socio-technical argument-based negotiation management approach by integrating a Socio-technical Co-construction Process (STCP) with an Argument-based Negotiation Process (ABNP). This paper reviews relevant research work and presents each step of this approach. The STCP provides rich contextual information of technical decisions and social interactions in a system design process. The ABNP provides STCP with a negotiation management and conflict resolution strategy by guiding software engineers to generate, exchange and evaluate their argument claims in negotiation activities. In addition, this paper describes a prototype system which implements this new approach using the advanced Web-based software technologies with the goal of demonstrating how to systematically enhance the negotiation management capabilities in a dynamic socio-technical framework.

  • The objective of this study is to understand negotiating dynamics across cultures by Indian businessmen and suggest proper negotiating strategies to Korean businessmen when they make a deal with Indian firms. The study proposes, as a result, twelve countermeasures as effective negotiating strategies against negotiating cultures of Indian businessmen. Better understanding on business cultures of the country with which Korea makes international transactions leads more fruitful outcome in concluding the international agreement. So cross-cultural studies are very much required for successful negotiations. Recently many Korean firms want to try to penetrate into Indian market and do successful operation because India becomes a compulsory subject for most of Korean firms. To increase possibilities of success in India, such Korean firms may consider applying the suggested negotiating strategies to the Indian business fields.

The Aid-India Consortium, the World Bank, and the International Order of Asia, 1958-1968

  • The Aid-India Consortium was organized in 1958 as an international scheme to support the economic development of India, and led by the World Bank. This article reconsiders the economic diplomacy of the Indian Government in the 1950s and 1960s, by paying attention to the interactions between the Indian authorities and the donor countries and institutions, in the context of the Cold War regime, decolonization and economic aid to the newly independent countries. First, it deals with the development of the Aid-India Consortium by considering debates at its annual meetings and the skillful negotiations of the Indian Government and financial authorities. It focuses especially on the leading role of an Indian diplomat and financial expert, B. K. Nehru. The article then tries to reveal an Indian initiative in solving the 'food crises' of 1965-67 through intimate collaboration with the US government and the World Bank, using the framework of the Aid-India Consortium. These attempts lead to a reconsideration of the economic order of Asia in the 1950s and 1960s.

A typology of Collaboration Modes for Scientific and Technological Knowledge Production and Sharing (과학기술지식 생산과 공유를 위한 협력 유형분류체계)

  • This paper suggests a typology of the modes of collaboration for scientific and technological knowledge production and sharing (STKPS) based on knowledge communication types, including organizational factors, communication channel, intensity, and decision-making, that affect STKPS processes. It is mainly designed to rearrange ideas about collaboration drawn from the literature in order to develop a conceptual framework for categorizing modes of collaboration based on how communication patterns shape four modes of collaboration. In the conclusion and discussion part, practical implications, limitations of this study, and further studies are discussed. In particular, the practical implications propose communication patterns suitable for five stages of collaboration processes. As the collaboration initiation or set-up stage is critical, extensive face-to-face communication is recommended in the auditing stage. In the execution stage, media-based communication can be actively utilized, because collaborators will mostly exchange explicit codified knowledge supported by IT. The evaluation and reinforcement stages concentrate on tacit knowledge exchange and explicit knowledge evaluation, which requires intensive face-to-face communication including negotiations for evaluating collaboration outcomes and partnership.

  • The formation of a supply chain should be approached with distributive viewpoint considering the dynamic nature of ordering environments. The purpose of this paper is to design a semantic web to support agent negotiation forming supply chains. With the view of a supply chain as composed of competitive agents which represent each member of supply chains with a local goal, a supply chain is formed through negotiation of price, due date choosing partners to contract. In the development of a negotiation method, we employ ontology and rules which are the basic techniques of the semantic web for supporting automated negotiations. Especially, a framework for a negotiation process is suggested and domain, processes and rules ontology are designed interrelatedly. With this modeling, a possibility of the semantic web based agent negotiation is suggested.

  • Most of the theories of collective bargaining outcomes start with a set of economic variables. The economic constraints, pressures, and incentives influence the bargaining power relationship between labor union and employer. In this paper, the critical macro and micro economic variables that need to be considered in analyzing the economic context of collective bargaining power relationship is outlined. The focus is on the role that economic forces play in shaping the results of bargaining, that is the outcome of negotiations. In this study, the elasticity of the demand for labor is introduced as one of the most important economic aspects that influence bargaining power. Unions will be most successful in increasing wages when they enjoy an inelastic demand for labor. If the demand for labor is not naturally inelastic, some institutional arrangement for "taking wages out of competition" must be sought. Inflation, business cycle, and income policy are influential in shaping both parties' goals and expectations as well. In addition to the analysis of the economic variables, the nature of power is diagonized with some introductory notions about its care and feeding before proceeding to the details of the above issues.
