New synthetic methodology of the saturated and unsaturated Er(III)-chelated prototype complexes based on benzoate and pentafluorobenzoate ligands was developed through ligand-exchange reaction. The saturated 8-coordinated Er(III) complexes exhibit stronger near-IR emission than those of the unsaturated 6-coordinated Er(III) complexes, obtained from the direct photoexcitation of Er ions with 488 nm. Three $H_2O$ molecules coordinated in the unsaturated 6-coordinated complexes seriously quenched the near IR emission by the harmonic vibration relaxation decay of O-H bonds. Also, the stronger emission of the Er(III) complexes was obtained by the indirect photoexcitation of ligands than by the direct photoexcitation of the Er(III) ions, due to the energy transfer between the excited ligand and the erbium ion. Furthermore, the saturated Er(III)-chelated complex with C-F bonds shows much stronger near IR emission than that of the saturated Er(III)-chelated complex with C-H bonds. It is attributed to the influence of C-F bonds on near IR emission.
PHOLED devices which have the structure of ITO/HAT-CN(5nm)/NPB(50nm)/EML(30nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) are fabricated to investigate the green emission profile in EML by using a gasket doping method. CBP and Ir(ppy)3 (2% wt) are co-deposited homogeneously as a background material of EML for green PHOLED, then a 5nm thickness of additionally doped layer by Ir(btp)2 (8% wt) is formed as a profiler of the green emission. The total thickness of the EML is maintained at 30nm while the distance of the profiler from the HTL/EML interface side (x) is changed in 5nm steps from 0nm to 25nm. As shown in Fig. 1, the green (513nm) peak from Ir(ppy)3 is not observed when Ir(btp)2 is also doped homogeneously because Ir(ppy)3 works as an gasket dopant of the Ir(btp)2 :CBP system. Therefore, in this experment, Ir(btp)2 can be used as a profiler of the green emission in CBP:Ir(ppy)3 system. The emission spectra from the PHOLED devices with different x are shown in Fig. 2. In this gasket doping system, stronger red peak means more energy transfer from green to red dopant or higher exciton density by green dopant. To find the green emission profile, the external quantum efficiency (EQE) at 3mA/cm2 for red peaks are calculated. More green light emission at near EML/HBL interface than that of HTL/EML is observed (insert of Fig. 2). This means that the higher exciton density at near EML/HBL interface in homogeneously doped CBP with Ir(ppy)3. As shown in Fig. 3, excitons can be quenched easily to HTL(NPB) because the T1 level of HTL(2.5eV) is relatively lower than that of EML(2.6eV). On the other hand, the T1 level of HBL(2.7eV) is higher than that of EML.
We have analysed near-infrared JHKL observations of the members of the $\approx$9 Myr-old $\eta$ Chamaeleontis cluster. Using (J - H)/(K - L) and (H - K)/(K - L) IR colour-colour diagrams for the brightest 15 members of the cluster, we find the fraction of stellar systems with near-IR excess emission was 0.60 $\pm$ 0.13 (2$\sigma$). For the CTT and WTT star population, we also find a strong correlation between the IR excess and Ha emission which is also known as an accretion indicator. The (K - L) excess of these stars appears to indicate a wide range of star-disk activity; from a CTT star with high levels of accretion, to CTT - WTT transitional objects with evidence for some on-going accretion, and WTT stars with weak or absent IR excesses. Among the brightest 15 members, four stars (RECX 5, 9, 11 and ECHA J0843.3-7905) with IR excesses ${\Delta}$(K - L) > 0.4 mag and strong or variable optical emission were identified as likely experiencing on-going mass accretion from their circumstellar disks which we confirmed their accretion disks from the optical high-resolution echelle spectroscopic study. The result-ing accretion fraction of 0.27 $\pm$ 0.13 (2$\sigma$) suggests that the accretion phase, in addition to the disks themselves, can endure for at least ${\~}$10 Myr.
We present the observational study toward the multiple outflows around $LkH{\alpha}$ 234 star formation region. The high-resolution, near-IR spectral mapping using the Immersion Grating Infrared Spectrograph (IGRINS) allowed us to distinguish at least four separate outflows with the molecular hydrogen ($H_2$) and forbidden iron ([Fe II]) emission lines. The outflow associated with the radio continuum source VLA 3B is detected in both H2 and [Fe II] emission, while the outflows driven by MM 1, VLA 2 sources were only detected in $H_2$, indicating the different physical conditions of outflows. We confirm the axis of VLA 3B jet, the position angle of ${\sim}240^{\circ}$. We firstly identified the redshifted, near-IR H2 outflow associated with VLA 2, which is coincident with the previous detections of $H_2O$ masers. From the $H_2$ line ratios, we interpret the gas properties of the shock excited blue- and redshifted components, and UV excited surrounding photodissociation region. We also discuss the origin of the high-velocity (|VLSR| > $150km\;s^{-1}$) $H_2$ emission.

We present the result of near-infrared (near-IR) imaging polarimetry of star-forming regions in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). We compiled near-IR photometric and polarimetric data of N159/160 regions. The photometric and polarimetric data were simultaneously obtained in J, H, and Ks bands using SIRPOL, an imaging polarimeter of the InfraRed Survey Facility (IRSF), in 2007 February. We measured Stokes parameters of point-like sources to derive their degree of polarization and polarization position angles. In this poster, we present polarization properties of these star-forming regions. We also discuss the polarization structure in these regions compared with mid-infrared dust emission structure from the Spitzer SAGE survey.
Luminescent lanthanide complexes have been overviewed for advanced photonics applications. Lanthanide(III) ions ($Ln^{3+}$) were encapsulated by the luminescent ligands such as metalloporphyrins, naphthalenes, anthracene, push-pull diketone derivatives and boron dipyrromethene(bodipy). The energy levels of the luminescent ligands were tailored to maintain the effective energy transfer process from luminescent ligands to $Ln^{3+}$ ions for getting a higher optical amplification gain. Also, key parameters for emission enhancement and efficient energy transfer pathways for the sensitization of $Ln^{3+}$ ions by luminescent ligands were investigated. Furthermore, to enhance the optophysical properties of novel luminescent $Ln^{3+}$ complexes, aryl ether-functionalized dendrons as photon antennas have been incorporated into luminescent $Ln^{3+}$ complexes, yielding novel $Ln^{3+}$-cored dendrimer complex such as metalloporphyrins, naphthalenes, and anthracenes bearing the Fr$\acute{e}$chet aryl-ether dendrons, namely, ($Er^{3+}-[Gn-Pt-Por]_3$ (terpy), $Er^{3+}-[Gn-Naph]_3$(terpy) and $Er^{3+}-[Gn-An]_3$(terpy)). These complexs showed much stronger near-IR emission bands at 1530 nm, originated from the 4f-4f electronic transition of the first excited state ($^4I_{13/2}$) to the ground state ($^4I_{15/2}$) of the partially filled 4f shell. A significant decrease in the fluorescence of metalloporphyrins, naphthalenes and anthracene ligand were accompanied by a strong increase in the near IR emission of the $Ln^{3+}$ ions. The near IR emission intensities of $Ln^{3+}$ ions in the lanthanide(III)-encapsulated dendrimer complexes were dramatically enhanced with increasing the generation number (n) of dendrons, due to the site-isolation and the light-harvesting(LH) effects. Furthermore, it was first attempted to distinguish between the site-isolation and the light-harvesting effects in the present complexes. In this review, synthesis and photophysical studies of inert and stable luminescent $Ln^{3+}$ complexes will be dealt for the advanced photonics applications. Also, the review will include the exploratory investigation of the key parameters for emission enhancement and the effective energy transfer pathways from luminescent ligands to $Ln^{3+}$ ions with $Ln^{3+}$-chelated prototype complexes.

The efficacy improvement issues in a unit discharge cell have been approached from the structural considerations. The tested cell designs include (a) a coplanar type with annular auxiliary electrode buried in barrier ribs, (b) a coplanar type with split auxiliary electrodes also burred in barrier ribs and (c) a coaxial type with a floating electrode stacked on the base electrode. From spatiotemporally resolved optical images of near-IR emission taken by a gated-ICCD camera and relative VUV emission intensity estimated by laser absorption spectroscopy, the differences in the discharge and light emission performances of those three cell types have been compared and discussed.
To study properties of the variation of the infrared emission of OH/IR stars, we collect and analyze the infrared observational data in K band for nine OH/IR stars. We use the observational data obtained for about three decades including recent data from the two micron all sky survey (2MASS) and the deep near infrared survey of the southern sky (DENIS). We use Marquardt-Levenberg algorithm to determine the pulsation period and amplitude for each star and compare them with previous results of infrared and radio investigations.

We present high-resolution near infrared (IR) spectra of two candidate planetary nebulae (PNe) that were serendipitously found toward the Galactic center (GC). Our spectra obtained using GNIRS on Gemini North reveal strong Br ♑ and He I recombination lines. In one of the targets, we confidently detect Pa ♌ emission. Based on Br ♑ and Pa ♌ lines, we estimate a foreground reddening to be Av=27 mag, which confidently puts this object at the GC distance. Along with the presence of highly excited emission lines such as [S IV], [Ne III], [Ne V], and [O IV] detected in the mid-IR spectra from the Spitzer Space Telescope, and the extended emission in the Pa ♋ narrow-band image from the Hubble Space Telescope, this makes it the first spectroscopically confirmed PN in the GC.
PHOLED devices which have the structure of ITO/HAT-CN(5nm)/NPB(50nm)/EML(47nm)/TPBi(10nm)/Alq3(20nm)/LiF(0.8nm)/Al(100nm) are fabricated to investigate the diffusion length of the triplet exciton by using double-quantum-well(DQE) EML structure. To fabricate DQW structures, Ir(ppy)3(2% wt) and Ir(btp)2(8% wt) are used as green and red emission zones, respectively. In DQW structured EML, as shown in Fig. 1, 1nm thick layers of green and red emission zones are located middle of the EML, and the distance between these wells(x) is changed from 0nm to 10nm. As shown in Fig. 2, the emission spectra from DQW PHOLED devices are changed with different x. The intensity of the green emission(520nm) is decreased when x is decreased, and it goes to near zero when x=0nm. This behavior can be identified as the diffusion of the triplet excitons from Ir(ppy)3 to Ir(btp)2 by the Dexter energy transfer(DET). From the external quantum efficiency(EQE) of the red emission, as shown in Fig. 3, the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by the equation of DET rate, R=A Exp(-2RDA/L), where RDA is donor-acceptor distance and L is the sum of the van der Wals radii. As a result, the measured data of the red EQEs with different x are identified to theoretical result from the equation of DET rate(Fig. 4). From this results, we could confirm that the diffusion length of the triplet excitons can be determined by using DQW structure and this method is very useful to investigate the behavior of the excitons in PHOLEDs.
