In submerged floating tunnels (SFTs), a next-generation maritime transportation infrastructure, the tunnel module floats in water due to buoyancy. For the effective and economical use of SFTs, connection with the ground is inevitable, but the stability of the shore connection is weak due to stress concentration caused by the displacement difference between the subsea bored tunnel and the SFT. The use of an elastic joint has been proposed as a solution to solve the stability problem, but it changes the dynamic characteristics of the SFT, such as natural frequency and mode shape. In this study, the finite element method (FEM) was used to simulate the elastic joints in shore connections, assuming that the ground is a hard rock without displacement. In addition, a small-scale model test was performed for FEM model validation. A parametric study was conducted on the resonance behavior such as the natural frequency change and velocity, stress, and reaction force distribution change of the SFT system by varying the joint stiffness under loading conditions of various frequencies and directions. The results indicated that the natural frequency of the SFT system increased as the stiffness of the elastic joint increased, and the risk of resonance was the highest in the low-frequency environment. Moreover, stress concentration was observed in both the SFT and the shore connection when resonance occurred in the vertical mode. The results of this study are expected to be utilized in the process of quantitative research such as designing elastic joints to prevent resonance in the future.
The resonance of boiler is caused by exciting force in the gas path and it generates the vibration by the harmony of boiler's dimensional factor. According to trending toward the boiler of increasing capacity and a bigger size, it has a problem of the vibration at back-pass heating surfaces. We can predict such vibrations as comparison between vortex frequency and gas column's natural frequency. We can't rely on the method for the past decades because of changing parameters, such as an allowable error, gas temperature, gas velocity, Strouhal number. We can reduce the vibration to use the seasoning effect and change the operating condition in coal fired boiler but it's not essential solution. When the vibration occurred in the model boiler, we must measures the acoustic pressure and frequency of places for considering the means. So far, we confirmed the problem from field measures and theoretical analysis about the acoustic vibration of boiler. We installed anti-acoustic baffle in a existing boiler to change the acoustic natural frequency at the cavity, which results in reducing the acoustic vibration. The first, we prove that the acoustic resonance is caused by harmonizing vortex shedding frequency of tube heat surface with acoustic natural frequency of cavity in the range of 650~750 MW loads. The second, the acoustic resonance at the back-pass heating surface has the third order of acoustic natural frequency at the second economizer. We install five anti-acoustic baffles at the second economizer to reducing the resonance. We confirm considerably reducing the acoustic vibration of boiler during the commercial boiler.
All plants in natural ecosystems are living in symbiosis with endophytes. Recently, there has been an increasing interest in endophytes since these organisms can interact with the hosts and produce various structurally or biologically interesting molecules. This study aimed to identify these molecules from endophytes. Chemical investigation of Climacium dendroides-derived fungus Talaromyces sp. resulted in the isolation of two diphenyl ether derivatives, purpactin A (1) and penicillide (2), and two steroids, dankasterone A (3) and calvasterol B (4). The structures of the compounds were identified via extensive spectroscopic and spectrometric methods. Four compounds did not show any antioxidative activities in the on-line antioxidant activity screening system.
In the present study a numerical simulation is performed on a natural convection inside a square cavity with a vibrating wall. The study has been conducted varying the heat transfer rate, wall excitation frequency and also the orientation of the cavity. The temperature and velocities inside the cavity was observed and also, the heat transfer coefficients on the heating wall was seen. From the results, it can be seen that the temperature inside the cavity decreases when excited with the proper frequency and the heat transfer coefficient increased with cavity inclination angle, ${\theta}$. It is also found from the results that flow resonance is occurred near the inclination angle ${\theta}=90^{\circ}$.
We have performed two kinds of experimental modal analyses fur a radial tire for passenger car under free-suspension. One is the modal analysis to obtain three-dimensional modes of tire using accelerometers and the other is the one to identify cavity resonance frequency using a pressure sensor. From the first analysis, we have obtained the three-dimensional natural modes, which makes it possible to grasp the features of the modes and to classify the vibrational modes into symmetric, non-symmetric, and antisymmetric modes in a simple way by using the experimental results. From the first and the second experimental analyses we have identified the cavity resonance frequency and its three-dimensional mode shape.
In this research paper, we study on how to decrease the high vibration of turbine hood casings which are main facilities of power generation industry. Cause of Standard coal-fired power 500MW facilities turbine hoods' high vibration is that Natural frequency of hood casing designed in near domain frequency, when they are making hoods. We investigate to reduce high vibration at hood casing. We use FEM method to found how to avoid resonance, and test to confirm that our FEM result. We Finally attach minium mass plate at hood casing to avoid resonance and high vibration reduce lower $100{\mu}m$.
This paper presents the vibration problem of the Engine Casing (E/C) "B" deck in the handymax vessel and describes a method to avoid resonance. The first ship of the series did not have any vibration issue on the "B" deck. However, resonance condition occurred when additional machine was installed to the following vessels. To understand the dynamic characteristics of the deck, the normal mode analysis and impact test have been performed. Within the normal operating range of the vessel, the $1^{st}$ natural frequency of the E/C "B" deck is close to the main engine's $6^{th}$ order. Based on these analysis, a reinforcement on the deck was suggested and it proved to be effective. Since actual impact test after the reinforcement also confirmed the resonance avoidance.
In this paper, the purpose is to investigate the vibration characteristics and the design of resonance avoidance of the unmanned helicopter master. Based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory for helicopter master, the equation of motion is derived by using extended Hamilton's principle. It was studied about the natural frequency of helicopter master as the design variances(tip mass, length and diameter of master). Also, it was compared the theoretical results for natural frequency with the results of FE analysis. The results of this study showed the vibration characteristics of helicopter master for the design of resonance avoidance.
A structural modification of baseframe is an effective method to avoid resonance in marine diesel generator (D/G) set which consists of diesel engine, generator and baseframe. However the reinforcement with thick plates or additional parts to increase the natural frequency can be less effective because of increased weight. Especially fine control of target mode based on the experience is difficult because the weight and interference of system have to be considered. In this paper, the design optimization of baseframe was performed to reduce the resonant vibration using a gradient descent method. The design parameters such as thickness, shape and location of baseframe parts are optimized to increase the torsional natural frequency of D/G set. From the actual test, the new designed baseframe reduced the vibration level in resonance by 55% without any increase of weight and interference. interference.
