  • Self-compacting concrete is widely used around the globe today due to its special and unique properties. This study examines the effect of natural and crushed gravel combinations in different percentages in short-and long-term properties of concrete. The best utilized sand had a fineness modulus of 2.7. In the mentioned mix designs, silica fume was used with 0 and 7% of the weight of the cement. In order to check the properties of fresh and hardened concrete, 9 and 5 test types were performed, respectively. The carried out tests were slump flow, V-funnel, J-ring, L-box, U-box and column segregation for fresh concrete, and compressive, tensile and flexural strengths for hardened concrete. A mix with only 100% natural gravel was considered as the control mix. According to the results, the control mix design and the one containing 100% crushed gravel with silica fume were the best in fresh and hardened concrete tests, respectively. Finally, using the optimization method, a mix design with 25% natural gravel, 75% crushed gravel and silica fume was introduced as the best mix in terms of the results of both fresh and hardened concrete tests.

  • Since Goetschel and Voxman [5] proposed a linear order on fuzzy numbers, several authors studied the concept of semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings defined through the order. Since the order is only defined for fuzzy numbers on $\mathbb{R}$, it is natural to find a new order for normal fuzzy sets on $\mathbb{R}^n$ in order to study the concept of semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings on normal fuzzy sets. In this paper, we introduce a new order "${\preceq}_s$ for normal fuzzy sets on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with respect to the support function. We define the semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings with this order. Some issues which are related with semicontinuity and convexity of fuzzy mappings will be discussed.

  • This paper presents dynamic algorithm of the MLS(moving least squares) difference method using first order differential Approximation. The governing equations are only discretized by the first order MLS derivative approximation. The system equation consists of an assembly of the approximate function, so the shape of system equation is similar to FEM(finite element method). The CDM(central difference method) is used for time integration of dynamic equilibrium equation. The natural frequency analyses of the MLS difference method and FEM are performed, and two analysis results are compared. Also, the accuracy of the proposed numerical method is verified by displaying the dynamic analysis results together with the results by the existing second order differential approximation. In the process of assembling the first order MLS derivative approximation, the oscillation error was suppressed and the stress distribution was interpreted as relatively uniform.

  • Heat transfer characteristics in terms of the tube wall-temperature and the enthalpy have been investigated utilizing ribbed (rifled) tubes in order to enhance heat transfer performance. Considerations were given for the cases of smooth tubes in order to compare with the case of ribbed tubes. The tilt angle of the experimental tubes are from 0.deg. to 90.deg. , in order to simulate the boiler water tubes having 15.deg.-90.deg. inclined angle in boiler nose and studded tubes (burner zones), Natural convection and forced convection (Re=1810) conditions were considered in the experiments. The experimental results for the effect for the tube inclination through a natural convection and forced convection are presented and it is shown that ribbed tubes permit an appreciable increase in heat transfer coefficients and consequently it means substantial reductions in boiler water wall tubes and heat exchanger surface areas.

  • The ratios of elastic to shear modulus of the structures as laminated composite plates and shells, are very large. They are much susceptible to effect of shear deformation. In order to obtain the accurate solutions of laminated composite plate and shells, the effects of shear strain should be considered for the analysis and design of them. Especially, the more exact solution can be obtained in applying to higher-order shear deformation theory. Therefore, in this paper, the third-order shear deformation theory is used to present the distributions of bending, the characteristics of natural frequencies and the buckling load according to the effects of ply orientation, number of layers for the laminated composite plates and shells with simply supported boundary conditions.

  • A simple GC method with a FID detector was developed in order to determine two main compounds (${\beta}$-sitosterol and lupenone) for Adenophorae Radix. ${\beta}$-Sitosterol and lupenone were analyzed by the gradient thermal ramping method. Nitrogen was used as the carrier gas at 108 kPa. The flow rate of gas was 2.0 mL/min; $2{\mu}L$ of filtered sample was injected at a split ratio of 1 : 80. This method was fully validated with respect to linearity, precision, accuracy and robustness. Further, this GC-FID method was applied successfully in order to quantify two compounds in an Adenophorae Radix extract. The GC analytical method for classification analysis was performed by repeated analysis of 59 reference samples in order to differentiate between Adenophora triphylla var. japonica Hara and 14 Codonopsis lanceolata. The results indicate that the GC-FID method is suitable and reliable for the quality evaluation of Adenophorae Radix.

  • In the present paper, a simple refined nth-higher-order shear deformation theory is applied for the free vibration analysis of laminated composite plates. The proposed displacement field is based on a novel kinematic in which include the undetermined integral terms and contains only four unknowns, as against five or more in case of other higher-order theories. The present theory accounts for adequate distribution of the transverse shear strains through the plate thickness and satisfies the shear stress-free boundary conditions on the top and bottom surfaces of the plate, therefore, it does not require problem dependent shear correction factor. The governing equations of motion are derived from Hamilton's principle and solved via Navier-type to obtain closed form solutions. The numerical results of non-dimensional natural frequencies obtained by using the present theory are presented and compared with those of other theories available in the literature to verify the validity of present solutions. It can be concluded that the present refined theory is accurate and efficient in predicting the natural frequencies of isotropic, orthotropic and laminated composite plates.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the Characteristics of Fashion Trends($1996{\sim}2005$) of Korea by the trend elements - style, fabric and color. The results of this study are as followed. During 10years, 'modern(18%)', 'elegant(11%)' and 'romantic(10%)' styles were shown in order, and colors of YR(17%), Y(14%), R(13%) and PB(11%) were shown in order. Considering tones, m(16%), d(12%), gy(11%) and s(10%) tones were in the order of frequency. In the fabric trend 'elegant(19%)', 'modern(14%)' and 'natural(14%)' images showed the high frequency. Since 2000's, style trends and fabric trends were subdivided, and the contrary images coexisted. The trend images of 'natural', 'retro', 'manish' and 'fun' were mainly used in fabric trend, and 'romantic' and 'classic' images were frequently used in style trend. The changes of trend images in style and fabric have been similar until the early 2000's but the cycle of trend of style became shorter than fabric trend. Therefore the cycle of fabric trend should be changed to be a short term and subdivided in company with style trend.

  • The air-conditioner for railway vehicle should have vibration durability in order to operate normally in vehicle running situation. KS R 9144(vibration test methods for railway vehicle parts) is used to verify the vibration durability. The specifications of compressor, condenser and evaporator for air-conditioner in railway vehicle are standardized, but the shape and structure of pipe lines are not specified. Because the air-conditioner handler produces the pipe line arbitrarily, sometimes the pipe line is broken during the vibration durability test. In this research the cause identification and solution of pipe line breaking problem in during the vibration durability test were studied for air-conditioner of railway vehicle(diesel multiple unit). It was found that the natural frequency of pipe line is related to the pipe line breaking by experiment. A new pipe line shape was introduced by using FEA in order to avoid the resonance. The prototype new pipe line was applied to air-conditioner and the natural frequency was measured by experiment in order to verify the resonance avoidance. The vibration reduction of air-conditioner with new pipe line was reviewed by comparing to the air-conditioner with original one.

  • The charge transfer complex formations between indole derivatives and methylviologen were investigated spectroscopically. In aqueous solutions near room temperature, the order of complex stability was tryptamine < tryptophan < indole < indole acetate, which is the reverse order of the magnitude of molar absorptivities. This was interpreted as involvement of contact charge transfer. The decrease of enthalpy of complex formation (-${\Delta}$H) was highest in tryptamine, and lowest in indole acetate. ${\Delta}$H and entropy of complex formation (${Delta}$S) varied nearly in a linear fashion with isokinetic temperature $242^{\circ}$K. These results were attributed to the hydration-dehydration properties of the side chains in indole derivatives. Except indole acetate, the complex formations were greatly enhanced by the addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS). However, the direct relationship between the enhanced complex formation and SDS micelle formation was not found. The enhanced charge transfer interaction inSDS solutions was attributed to the increased ${\Delta}$S by interaction between methylviologen and SDS in premicellar level. The order of complex stability in SDS solutions was indole acetate < tryptophan < trypamine < indole, which reflects the hydrophobicity of indole derivatives as well as electrostatic interaction between indole derivatives and methylviologen associated with SDS.
