According to the requirement of Res.MSC.285(86) for natural gas-fueled engine installations in ships, pump and compressor rooms should be fitted with effective mechanical ventilation system of the under pressure type, providing a ventilation capacity of at least 30 air changes per hour. It generally considered that gas leakage is more likely from a Fueled Gas Supply System(FGS) room as compared to other places, where installed in many kind of machinery or equipments like gas supply high-pressure pipes, valves, flanges and etc. Furthermore, leaked gas may be dispersed in a short time in an enclosed space, especially a FGS room, due to high pressure. However, the present requirement in Res.MSC.285(86) just considers the ventilating capacity of air changes per hour but the capacity of leaked gas. Hence, the current requirements may not meet effectively when enforcing the new propulsion systems as marine fuel. This study is conducted for the purpose of safety evaluation about the dispersion and ventilation efficiency with estimated leakage scenario. Numerical analysis predictions as the result of this paper are explained to know the features of flow pattern and the diffusion of natural gas concentration.
This study takes an issue of efficiency analysis in the presence of network effect utilizing the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) framework. Network effect has important policy implication for the regulation of local monopolies which undertake their business through physical network, such as electricity, natural gas, local telephony, etc. If the difference in spatial condition between companies is not controlled properly, the performance comparison and associated incentive regulation bear significant bias. In this study, we propose a methodology to measure the true managerial or technical efficiency apart from efficiency difference accruing from the difference in spatial condition. A series of modified DEA efficiency models are combined to investigate the extent of exogenous and endogenous efficiency component in the Korean natural gas distribution companies. Empirical results show that the network effect plays significant role in determining superficial performance difference.

There are several methods for the hydrogen production such as steam reforming of natural gas, photochemical method, biological method, electrolysis and thermochemical method, etc. These days it has been widely studied for the hydrogen production method having low hydrogen production cost and high efficiency. In this paper, patents in the hydrogen production by steam reforming of natural gas were gathered and analyzed. The search range was limited in the open patents of USA(US), European Union(EP), Japan(JP), and Korea(KR) from 1996 to 2006. Patents were gathered by using key-words searching and extracted by filtering criteria. The trends of the patents was analyzed by the years, countries, companies, and technologies.
Piston cores retrieved from the western Ulleung Basin, East Sea were analyzed to examine the potential for hydrocarbon generation and to determine the hydrocarbon indicators. 2D multi-channel reflection seismic and Chirp data were also investigated for mapping and characterizing the geophysical hydrocarbon indicators such as BSR (bottom simulating reflector), blank zone, pock-mark etc. High organic carbon contents and sedimentation rates that suggest good condition for hydrocarbon generation. High pressure and low temperature condition, and high residual hydrocarbon concentrations are favor the formation of natural gas hydrate. In the piston cores, cracks generally oriented to bedding may indicate the gas expansion. The seismic data show several BSRs that are associated with natural gas hydrates and underlying free gas. A number of vertical to sub-vertical blank zones were well identified in the seismic sections. They often show the seismic pull-up structures, probably indicating the presence of high velocity hydrates. Numerous pockmarks were also observed in the Chirp profiles. They may indicate the presence of free gas below the hydrate stability zone as well.

Gas hydrate is formed by physical binding between water molecule and gas such as methane, ethane, propane, or carbon dioxide, etc., which is captured in the cavities of water molecule under the specific temperature and pressure. $1\;m^3$ hydrate of pure methane can be decomposed to the methane gas of $172\;m^3$ and water of $0.8\;m^3$ at standard condition. If this characteristic of hydrate is reversely utilized, natural gas is fixed into water in the form of hydrate solid. Therefore, the hydrate is considered to be a great way to transport and store of natural gas in large quantity. Especially the transportation cost is known to be 18~25% less than the liquefied transportation. However, when methane gas hydrate is artificially formed, its reaction time may be too long and the gas consumption in water becomes relatively low, because the reaction rate between water and gas is low. Therefore, for the practical purpose in the application, the present investigation focuses on the rapid production of hydrates and the increment of the amount of captured gas by adding zeolite into pure water. The results show that when the zeolite of 0.01 wt% was added to distilled water, the amount of captured gas during the formation of methane hydrate was about 4.5 times higher than that in distilled water, and the methane hydrate formation time decreased at the same subcooling temperature.

This study was conducted to derive the five correlations which could predict specific gravity(or heating value), compression factor, density, etc., if we know heating value or specific gravity only. To make a sufficient number of raw data for regression, SGERG EOS was modified into equation of heating value. Based on these raw data, five correlations were obtained and the uncertainties of the correlations were evaluated. The results showed that the uncertainties were near 0.1% in most conditions of natural gas and so the correlations could be used in natural gas industry and academic fields.
Natural gas hydrates (NGH) provide 170 gas volumes per unit volume of the medium and are easier to make with moderate pressure and temperature (40 bar at 3 C). Once they form, their preservation temperature is 20 C at 1 bar, which is much milder than the LNG preservation. In case of using the NGH, The small and medium sized gas well has advantages for development because of NGH's these characteristics. According to the cost evaluation report of Gudmundsson in Norway and the research of MES in Japan, the gas well that uses the NGH has a cost saving effect about 10~20% compared LNG. The effect depends on distance and production. However, cost saving and efficiency of liquefaction process is increased by the development of LNG liquefaction technology. Therefore, these factors have to be reflected in economic analysis. The purpose of this research is to compare the cost of Gas Supply Chain according to the transport type, distance and gas reserves. Especially, we consider not only the cost of facility but also the total cost (production cost, transport cost, etc).
Sour gas is natural gas or any other gas containing significant amounts of hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$). Natural gas is usually considered sour gas if there are more than 5.7 milligrams of $H_2S$ per cubic meter of natural gas, which is equivalent to approximately 4 ppm by volume under standard temperature and pressure We have surveyed on the treatment and removal technology of sour gas, sour gas include a lot of hydrogen sulfide($H_2S$), Carbon dioxide($CO_2$), utane($C_4H_{10}$) and mercaptan($C_nH_{4n-1}SH$) etc. We need high technology for development for these kinds of raw gases and we should specially take care of treating and removal of theses raw gases. Therefor we are going to describe about these kinds of raw gases and about methods how to treat these kinds of gases.

Natural gas is considered to be on e of the most promising candidates for a clean substitute fuel and a great amount of research on the compressed natural gas(CNG) fueled vehicle has been performed. In this s tudy, we try to understand the property of CNG fuel with using CNG engine experiment. In order to present the direction and application of CNG, we experiment with various operating conditions that is, spark timing, A/F ratio, air quantity and fuel quantity, etc. 11,967 cc engine was used in the experiment and the engine fuel ratio was determined in the way that the performance of dedicated CNG engine is corresponded to that of existing diesel engine. The performance and dedicated CNG engine were measured by changing the fuel injection timing. The dedicated CNG engine was proved to be good in describing the experimental results and according to the actual road test, acceleration and constant speed driving for dedicated CNG engine was better than existing diesel engine.

To improve efficiency of diesel engine which requests high output recently and is used all kinds of industrial areas, this thesis experimented dynamic characteristics and exhaust gas characteristics of diesel engine installed by supercharger of correspondent output 200HP and natural inhalation diesel engine through the dynamometer and exhaust gas analyzer in same condition. As the result of experiment with natural inhalation diesel engine and diesel engine installed by supercharger, there were a few differences of output, but dynamic characteristics at high speed showed increased output and efficiency of the engine installed by supercharger. On the contrary, in exhaust gas characteristics, the model installed by supercharger showed increased exhaust gas such as $NO_X$, $O_2$, etc, but added value of exhaust gas is low if considering $CO_2$ reduction and efficiency of dynamic characteristic's increase. Based on the results, diesel engine installed by supercharger is expected to show higher economic feasibility than natural inhalation diesel than natural inhalation engine from an angle of efficiency. Keywords: 200hp class Turbocharger, Exhaust Gas, Engine Performance, Marine Diesel Engine.
