Reduced Minimization Theory in Skew Beam Element (공간곡선보요소에서의 감차최소화 이론)

  • Since the skew beam element has two curvatures which are a curvature and a torsion, spatial behavior of curved beam which cannot be included in one plane can be anlayzed by emploting the skew beam element. The $C^{0}$-continuous skew beam element shows the stiffness locking phenomenon when full integration is employed. The locking phenomenpn is characterized by two typical phenomena ; one is the much smaller displacement thant the exact one and theother is the undelation phenomenon is stress distribution. In this paper, we examine how unmatched coefficient in the constrained energy brings about the locking by Reduced Minimization theory. We perform the numerical ones. These comparisons show that uniformly full integration(UFI), which employs full integration for the constrained energy, entails the locking phenomenon. But the use of uniformly reduced integration(URI) of selectively reduced integration(SRI), which employs reduced integration for constrained energy, does not produce the significant errors of displacements of the undulation phenomenon in stress distribution since they do not entails the locking, Additionally, the error due to the approximated parameters for describing the geometry of skew beam is examined.d.

The Improvement of Computational Efficiency in KIM by an Adaptive Time-step Algorithm (적응시간 간격 알고리즘을 이용한 KIM의 계산 효율성 개선)

  • A numerical forecasting models usually predict future states by performing time integration considering fixed static time-steps. A time-step that is too long can cause model instability and failure of forecast simulation, and a time-step that is too short can cause unnecessary time integration calculations. Thus, in numerical models, the time-step size can be determined by the CFL (Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy)-condition, and this condition acts as a necessary condition for finding a numerical solution. A static time-step is defined as using the same fixed time-step for time integration. On the other hand, applying a different time-step for each integration while guaranteeing the stability of the solution in time advancement is called an adaptive time-step. The adaptive time-step algorithm is a method of presenting the maximum usable time-step suitable for each integration based on the CFL-condition for the adaptive time-step. In this paper, the adaptive time-step algorithm is applied for the Korean Integrated Model (KIM) to determine suitable parameters used for the adaptive time-step algorithm through the monthly verifications of 10-day simulations (during January and July 2017) at about 12 km resolution. By comparing the numerical results obtained by applying the 25 second static time-step to KIM in Supercomputer 5 (Nurion), it shows similar results in terms of forecast quality, presents the maximum available time-step for each integration, and improves the calculation efficiency by reducing the number of total time integrations by 19%.

An Analysis of Economic Integration with Free Trade and Differences in Gains from Trade (자유무역으로의 경제통합과 국가 간 무역이득의 배분에 관한 분석)

  • Purpose - How are gains from trade distributed between countries when economic integration is achieved through free trade? The purpose of this paper is to answer this question. Design/methodology/approach - This study attempts to address the issue of distribution of trade gains between participating countries following economic integration in terms of positive economics. The analysis is therefore based on a theoretical methodology. Findings - First, commodity prices fall and consumer surplus increases in both large and small countries. Second, when economic integration into free trade is achieved, gains from trade always exist in small countries. However, the size of trade gains depends on the degree of difference from the market size of the partner country, the large country. However, the size of the gains from trade depends on the extent of difference between the market size of the large country. If the market size of a large country is much larger and there is a large difference, trade gains will be very large, whereas if the market size is similar, profits of domestic firm will decrease. Therefore, in that case, the size of the gains from trade becomes relatively small because only the gains from exchange exists. On the other hand, in a large country with a large market size, there is a possibility of trade gains only when the market size is similar to that of a small country, which is a trading partner. However, if there is a large difference in market size, the decrease in profits of domestic firm is relatively larger than the increase in consumer surplus due to trade, and rather, a trade loss occurs. Research implications or Originality - Our analysis contributes to filling the gaps in the literature regarding the distribution of gains from trade, and from a policy point of view, it is meaningful in examining the impact of market size, an important variable considered in regional economic integration of countries.

  • We obtain a formula for the conditional Wiener integral of the first variation of functionals and establish several integration by parts formulas of conditional Wiener integrals of functionals on a function space. We then apply these results to obtain various integration by parts formulas involving conditional integral transforms and conditional convolution products on the function space.

  • In general, mineral resources prospect is performed in several methods including geological survey, geological structure analysis, geochemical exploration, airborne geophysical exploration and remote sensing, but data collected through these methods are usually not integrated for analysis but used separately.   • We compare the relative usefulness of common basis functions and numerical integration methods in representing complex resonance state encountered in the molecular scattering problem of aluminum dimer electronic predissociation. Specifically, the basis set size and computing CPU times are monitored in order to find the minimum requirement for ensuring the modest accuracy of calculated resonance energies (0.1 $cm^{-1}$) for more than 100 resonance states. The combination of the so-called one-dimensional box eigenfunctions and energy-dependent boundary functions are found to be most efficient if integration is done using the basis set quadrature rules.

  • Given Korea does not have a competitive edge compared to developed or other competing countries in national information and knowledge resource, it is necessary to consider ways to ensure the best out of the limited resource. It is believed that Korea has to develop a national information policy which enables effective and efficient communication, management and availability of information resource within Korea. In order to ensure the strategic integration of information and knowledge resource in Korea, this research encompasses the followings: First, the needs for establishing a strategic system that helps ensure the integration of information and knowledge resource on national level are probed, Second, current status of national information and knowledge management policy is reviewed, and some problems are brought forward, Third, to resolve the problems a strategic approach to the integration of information resource according to material types and individual institution's characteristics is proposed, fur effective allocation of government budget. Ant finally, based on the findings and models proposed, a national information strategy to integrate the dispersed information resource is suggested.

A Study on the Maintenance Plan of Common Farming Facility Using Space Syntax (공간구문론을 이용한 농업공동시설 입지 방안에 관한 연구)

  • With a view to creating beautiful farm villages, this study aims to exploit space syntax and thereby establish a systematic plan for refurbishing common farming facilities in farm villages by expanding a remodeling plan that has so far been focused on farm houses to cover different villages as well as in spatial scope. For this purpose, the study has extracted a system of categories for common ownership facilities in farm villages and applicable elements needed for collaboration in the space of joint production by performing a comprehensive analysis of related literature for the purpose of researching the distribution of common farming facilities. Based on such categorization of applicable elements, the study conducted a field survey of the four types of farm villages such as suburban area (Hwaseong), inland farming-centered area (Jeungpyeong), coastal & plain area (Goheung), and mid-mountain area (Gangneung), through group discussions by participating researchers and field pilot surveys. Also, space analysis has come up with measurements based on the five criteria of integration, local integration, control, connectivity, and spatial depth. And a plan for type-specific remodelling of common farming facilities has been drawn up through standardization based on the values in integration for different villages and spatial depth for common farming facilities. The significance of the current study consists in identifying how the location of common farming facilities influences the characteristics of different villages in terms of spatial structure and then drawing up guidelines for planning their placement.
