  • Although the boundary image sticking is one of major factors to determine display quality in AC PDP, a reliable measurement method has not reported so far. The boundary image sticking is recognized clearly by our eyes, but it is difficult to compare with adjacent cells by using a measurement method. However, the boundary image sticking can be analyzed by CCD DSLR camera method because this method can distinguish between the boundary cell and the adjacent cells. Moreover, we suggested new driving waveform for the reduction of the boundary image sticking.

  • Many approaches to image restoration are aimed at removing either gauss or impulse noise. This is because both types of degradation processes are distinct in nature, and hence they are easier to manage when considered separately. Nevertheless, it is possible to find them operating on the same image, which produces a hard damage. This happens when an image, already contaminated by Gaussian noise in the image acquisition procedure, undergoes impulsive corruption during its digital transmission. Here we proposed an algorithm first judge the type of the noise according to the difference values of pixel's neighborhood region and impulse noise's characteristic. Then removes the gauss noise by modified weighted mean filter and removes the impulse noise by modified nonlinear filter. The result of computer simulation on test images indicates that the proposed method is superior to traditional filtering algorithms. The proposed method can not only remove mixed noise effectively, but also preserve image details.

  • Image denoising is a key issue in all image processing researches. Generally, the quality of an image could be corrupted by a lot of noise due to the undesired conditions of image acquisition phase or during the transmission. Many approaches to image restoration are aimed at removing either Gaussian or impulse noise. Nevertheless, it is possible to find them operating on the same image, which is called mixed noise and it produces a hard damage. In this paper, we proposed noise type classification method and a mixed nonlinear filter for mixed noise suppression. The proposed filtering scheme applies a modified adaptive switching median filter to impulse noise suppression and an efficient nonlinear filer was carried out to remove Gaussian noise. The simulation results based on Matlab show that the proposed method can remove mixed Gaussian and impulse noise efficiently and it can preserve the integrity of edge and keep the detailed information.

  • Thedenoising of a natural image corrupted by Gaussian noise is a long established problem in signal or image processing. Today the research is focus on the wavelet domain, especially using the wavelet threshold method. In this paper, a waveletbased image denoising modified adaptive thresholding method is proposed. The proposed method computes thethreshold adaptively based on the scale level and adaptively estimates wavelet coefficients by using a modified thresholding function that considers the dependency between the parent coefficient and child coefficient and the soft thresholding function at different scales. Experimental results show that the proposed method provides high peak signal-to-noise ratio results and preserves the detailed information of the original image well, resulting in a superior quality image.

  • This paper shows that the boundary image sticking can be prohibited completely by using the vacuum sealing process, which means that the residual impurities such as nitrogen or oxygen can be a critical factor inducing the boundary image sticking. The production of boundary image sticking was checked in the test panel fabricated by the $N_2$ or $O_2$ flow during the vacuum sealing process. As a result, the boundary image sticking did not appear in the case of $N_2flow$, whereas the boundary image sticking was observed in the case of $O_2$ flow even though the test panel was fabricated by the vacuum sealing process.

  • When size and shape of moving object have been changed, a correlator often accumulates walk-off error. A success of correlation-based tracking largely depends on choosing suitable window size and position and thus transferring the proper reference image to the next frame. For this, we propose the Adaptive Window Algorithm with Four-Direction Sizing Factors (AWA-FSF) for fast adjusting a reference region to enhance reliability of correlation-based image tracking in complex cluttered environments. Since the AWA-FSF is capable of adjusting a reference image size more rapidly and properly, we can minimize the influence of complex background and clutter. In addition, we can finely tune the center point of the reference image repeatedly after main tracking process. Thus we have increased stability and reliability of correlation-based image tracking. We tested performance of the AWA-FSF using 45 real image sequences made of over 3400 images and had the satisfied results for most of them.

  • Image segmentation techniques becoming increasingly important in the field of remote sensing image analysis in areas such as object oriented image classification. This paper presents a new method for image segmentation in High Resolution Remote Sensing Image based on Seeded Region Growing (SRG) and Edge Information. Firstly, multi-spectral edge detection was done using an entropy operator in pan-sharpened QuickBird imagery. Then, the initial seeds were automatically selected from the obtained edge map. After automatic selection of significant seeds, an initial segmentation was achieved by applying SRG. Finally the region merging process, using region adjacency graph (RAG), was carried out to get the final segmentation result. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method has good potential for application in the segmentation of high resolution satellite images.

  • This paper presents an image quality enhancement algorithm for dark image acquired under poor lighting condition. Various retinex algorithms which are human perception-based image processing methods were proposed to solve this problem. Although MSR(Multi-Scale Retinex) among these algorithm works well under most lighting condition, it shows color degradation because their separate nonlinear processing of RGB color channels. To compensate for the loss of the color, MSRCR(Multi-Scale Retinex with Color Restoration) was proposed. However, it requires high computational load and has additional parameters that need to be adjusted according to input image. In order to overcome this problem, a new retinex algorithm based on MSR is proposed in this paper. The proposed method consists of V channel MSR, saturation correction, and separate contrast enhancement process. Experimental results show that the subjective and objective image quality of the proposed method better than those of the conventional methods.

  • This paper deals with the Cell-based distributed processing for generating free viewpoint images by merging multiple differently focused images. We previously proposed the method of generating free viewpoint images without any depth estimation. However, it is not so easy to realize real-time image reconstruction based on our previous method. In this paper, we discuss the method to reduce the processing time by dimension reduction for image filtering and Cell-based distributed processing. Especially, the method of high-speed image reconstruction by the Cell processor on SONY PLAYSTATION3(PS3) is described in detail. We show some experimental results by using real images and we discuss the possibility of real-time free viewpoint image reconstruction.

  • This paper addresses factors of line image quality on grain leather printed via inkjet printer. Lines were printed onto coated leather media, and line width, edge blurriness, and edge raggedness were evaluated for line image quality. Various factors influenced to wetting and capillary wicking were studied and found out that wicking through capillary between fibers causes significant feathering on leather surface similar with pulp capillary in copy Paper. Polyurethane and acrylic resin coating resulted good image qualify by reducing capillary wicking. The mixture of polyurethane and acrylic resin applied on grain leather satisfied with both image quality and surface hand. $AllWrite^{TM}$ ink brought best results of image quality, comparing with $VeraPrint^{TM}$ ink and $JetWrite^{TM}$ ink.
