In wireless spread-spectrum communication systems utilizing PN (pseudo noise) sequences, a variety of noise sources from the channel affect the data reception performance. Among them, in this paper we are concerned with the narrowband interference that may arise from the use of the spectral bands overlapped by the existing narrowband users or the intentional jammers as in military communication. The effect of this interference can be reduced to some extent at the receiver with the PN demodulation by processing gain. It is known, however, that when the interferers are strong, the reduction cannot be sufficient and thereby requiring the extra use of narrowband interference cancellers (NIC's) at the receivers. A class of adaptive NIC's are studied here based on different two cost functions. One is the chip mean-squared error (MSE) computed prior to the PN demodulation and used in the conventional cancellers. Since thses conventional cancellers should be operated at the chip rate, the computational requirements are enormous. The other is the symbol MSE computed after the PN demodulation in which case the weights of the NIC's can be updated at a lot lower symbol rate. To compare the performance of these NIC's, we derive a common measure of performance, i.e., the symbol MSE after the PN demodulation. The analytical results are verified by computer simulation. As a result, it is shown that the cancellation capability of the symbol-rate NIC's are similar or better than the conventional one while the computational complexity can be reduced a lot.

An adaptive array system can effectively remove all received interferences by using adaptive algorithms even though the received signal condition is not known. The conventional adaptive array systems, however, cannot remove all interferences adaptively and converge very slowly when the eigenvalue spread of the input covariance matrix is large. In the paper, a new adaptive array system called an automatic gain controller (AGC) Applebaum array and its control algorithm are proposed to overcome the performance degradation of conventional Applebaum array in multiple interference conditions. The performance analysis of the proposed AGC Applebaum array is described under the condition of multiple narrowband interferences. Simulation results show the array output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the AGC Applebaum array increases by 30dB compared to that of the conventional Applebaum array in the simulation condition. The gain of the AGC Applebaum array in the incident direction of a weaker interference is also shown to be lower than that of the conventional Applebaum array.

In this paper, Analyzed Performance of TH/UWB(Time Hopping/Ultra Wideband after Impulse Radio) system in interference environment by existing system that use same frequency band. In case interference fraction ratio is below 0.1, consider and analyzed in case influence through interference in IR system that is shared in 3.1 - 10.6 GHz band hereafter as case that use very small and narrow band than IR system such as 80 MHz bandwidth of ISM band or 802.1la's use bandwidth 20 MHz in 5 GHz band. According to result, we could know that Performance change according to possession band width of interference shows greatly than size of interference electric power. Also, interference fraction ratio is big (more than 0.1) narrowband interference in partial band interference environment, could get Performance improvement of big width increasing pulse repetition number. But, could know that do not influence hardly in system performance when interference fraction ratio is small (below 0.1) narrowband interference. Therefore, may receive the best system performance and transfer efficiency by set the most suitable pulse repetition number according to bandwidth fraction ratio of interference through correct interference fraction ratio estimation and apply proper interference suppression techniques.

In this paper, we propose an opportunistic data relay scheme in narrowband multihop combat radio networks. Narrowband networks have physical restrictions on high-speed transmission. Furthermore, the topology changes dynamically due to the jamming of the enemy, signal interference between friendly forces, and movement of network entities. Therefore, the traditional relay scheme that collects topology information and calculates a relay path before transmission is unsuitable for such networks. Our proposed scheme does not collect topology information and transmits data opportunistically. The scheme can cause unnecessary data relaying that is not related to data delivery to the destination node. However, for small networks, the effect of increasing network throughput by not gathering topology information is much greater than the effect of reducing throughput by unnecessary data relays. We demonstrate the performance superiority of the proposed scheme through simulation in the worst case of network topology.

This paper analyzes, through simulations, GNSS interference mitigation performance against wideband and narrowband interferences by using spatial-temporal adaptive processing(STAP). The mathematical analysis results demonstrate that the array configuration has a considerable effect on the spatial-temporal correlation function. Based on the results, different array configurations are presented to evaluate and observe the effect on interference mitigation. The analysis results are further assessed through simulations.

A new lattice structure using decision feedback and augmented prediction for estimating and suppressing the narrowband interference is presented. The performance of the proposed interference canceller is compared to the conventional interference cancellation filter. The reference signal of the interference canceller is formed by using the chip decisions, which is correlated with the narrowband interference components of the received signal. The decision feedback technique reduce the distortion of the desired signal which is introduced by the interference canceller through the use of feedback chip decisions. And by linear prediction of the error signal, the residual interference component of can be eliminated, Using this unconteminated error signal to update the adaptive filter coefficients, the performance of the rejection can be improved. In the simulation, it is assumed that the processing gains are 7 and 15, signal to interference ratio is -10[dB], and 5% interference band. The results show that the BER performance of the proposed filter structure is improved by 1~3dB.
A general method for the evaluation of the symbol error probability (SER) of ultra wideband (UWB) systems with various kind of modulation schemes (N-PAM, M-PPM, Bi-Orthogonal), in presence of multipath channel, multiuser and strong narrowband interference, is presented. This method is shown to be able to include all the principal multiaccess techniques proposed so far for UWB, time hopping (TH), direct sequence (DS) and optical orthogonal codes (OOC). A comparison between the performance of these multiple access and modulation techniques is given, for both ideal Rake receiver and minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalizer. It is shown that for all the analyzed multiple access schemes, a Rake receiver exhibits a high error floor in presence of narrowband interference (NBI) and that the value of the error floor is in-fluenced by the spectral characteristics of the spreading code. As expected, an MMSE receiver offers better performance, representing a promising candidate for UWB systems. When the multiuser interference is dominant, all multiple access techniques exhibit similar performance under high-load conditions. If the number of users is significantly lower than the spreading factor, then DS outperforms both TH and OOC. Finally 2PPM is shown to offer better performance than the other modulation schemes in presence of multiuser interference; increasing the spreading factor is proposed as a more effective strategy for SER reduction than the use of time diversity.

In this paper, the performance of the UWB communication systems is analyzed in the presence of the Narrow Band Interference(NBI). UWB communication systems are modeled as using the Pulse Position Modulation(PPM). In this system, a Gaussian monocycle is used as the received pulses. The NBI is considered as a zero-mean random process with a constant spectral power density over its whole bandwidth. We obtain the mathematical expressions for describing the effect of the NBI on the UWB system. And it can be shown that the suppression of the effect of NBI on the UWB systems is available by adjusting the PPM related parameter.

In this paper, we proposed a complex multirate filter bank(CMRFB) based adaptive notch filtering technique to solve the co-existence narrowband interference problem of DS-CDMA and TDMA systems. We have discussed error performance of co-existence of DS-CDMA and TDMA system by using complex multirate filter bank in land mobile channel and computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme can eliminate the narrowband interference(TDMA signals) effectively.

Sequence Code Division Multiple Access) and TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) system. In this system, the narrowband TDMA signals can cause intolerant interferences to CDMA signals. In this paper, DS-CDMA/TDMA frequency sharing system have been analyzed in AWGN(Additive white Gaussian Noise), MAI (Multi Access Interference) and NI(Narrowband Interference) environment. Also, performance improvement has been obtained by adopting an adaptive notch filtering scheme using complex filter bank and CCI canceller.
