  • 자연과 인간, 과학기술의 조화를 요하는 시대적 흐름에 따라 과학관은 대중에게 친숙한 공간이 되어 그 수요가 늘고 있다. 과학기술문화에 대한 정보는 산업화, 정보화, 전문화 사회에 있어 미래를 개척하는 힘이다. 따라서 그러한 정보를 전달하는 전시관은 적극적이고 활발한 정보의 교류가 이루어지도록 계획되어야 하는데 그것은 잘 짜여진 전시 연출의 기획과정을 통해 가능하다. 본 연구는 전시관의 디자인에 있어서 연출의 중요성을 밝히는 데에 의의를 둔다. 연구의 진행 과정은 다음과 같다. 1. 과학관의 기능과 역할을 고찰하고 전시 연출에 대한 개념을 정립하다. 2. 전시공간을 연출하기 위해서 사용되는 매체와 기법을 제시하고 연출 사례를 연구한다. 3. 구체적인 전시 연출의 기획 과정과 연출에 따른 시나리오를 제안하여 연출의 효과와 중요성을 밝힌다 연구 결과 연출은 전시의 효율성(활발한 정보의 커뮤니케이션)을 증대시키는 효과를 가져오며 따라서 기획에 있어서 반드시 고려되어야 하는 과정임을 알 수 있었다.

박물관 공간구성이 방문객수와 소장품수에 대해 갖는 관계 (A relationship among types of museum space, number of visitors, and number of collections)

  • 본 연구에서는 박물관의 공간구성을 구분하여 각 영역의 면적이 박물관 방문객수와 소장품수에 대해 갖는 관계에 대해 고찰하였다. 영역의 구분은 다양한 학자들(예를 들어 서상우, 2008; 이난영, 2008; Ambrose & Paine, 2012)에 의해 다양한 방식으로 이루어졌지만 본 연구에서는 한국의 박물관 공간 구분을 가장 적절하게 적용할 수 있는 Lord et al. (2012)의 방식에 따라 공공/비공공 영역과 컬렉션/비컬렉션 영역으로 구분하였다. 853개 박물관 데이터를 이용한 회귀분석 결과 공공/컬렉션 영역은 연방문객수와, 비공공/컬렉션 영역은 소장품수와 각각 유의한 정(+)의 관계를 갖는 것을 발견했다. 본 연구는 방문객수와 수장품수로 표현될 수 있는 박물관의 외형적 특징과 해당 박물관의 공간구성과의 관계를 밝힘으로써 박물관 성과에 대한 학문적 시사점과 함께 박물관 운영자에게 실무적 시사점을 제공한다.

리차드 마이어(Richard Meier)의 미술관건축 공간구성 특성연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Space Organization of Richard Meier′s Museum Project)

  • This study is focused on three major museum projects completed during 1990's by Richard Meier who is known as the romantic modernist as well as one of the architects who continue their devotion on completing the fourth dimensional spatial concept through the practice. Main focus of the study will be analyzing the space and design elements shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art (Barcelona, Spain, 1986-95), Museum of Television & Radio (Beverly Hills, CA., 1994-96) and the Getty Center(Los Angeles, CA., 1984-97), and find out the new meaning of museum design suggested by the architect. The analyzation was done based on the actual sight visits and through the acquired references. The museum designs done by Richard Meier show consistency between visual language, use of 'light, space and form' as the design elements to connect interior and exterior to create openness and harmony with surrounding condition. Additionally, greatness of the architectural elevation, efficient use of interconnecting space, adoption of natural light, affective use of the space, careful consideration to the exhibiting items, spread of information centers, balance between large and small exhibition spaces, and his concept on providing choices to the viewer within the museum are the main issues in designing the museum in order to give various spatial experience to the visitors.

박물관 관람공간구성의 유형분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Typological Analysis of Museum Layouts)

  • The study intends to systematically arrange and classify the museum layouts in terms of their structure of exhibition space. The exhibition space, here, means the whole area where visitors are allowed to move and visit in museums. Through this, I tied to understand the characteristics and trends comparing and analyzing international and national exhibition space layout, and then grope the standard in case of establishing museum. The first criteria is based on the point of view that the typical museum experience is made in the exhibition space. Accordingly, the exhibition space can be grouped into two categories; one is 'room type' consisting mostly of individual rooms as in classical museums, and the other is 'open plan type' consisting free standing walls as in miesian free plan. The second criteria is dependent on the way how visitors move about in exhibition spaces. In other words, museum layouts can be categorized in terms of mutual connection between individual spaces including exhibition spaces and corridor spaces designated for the purpose of moving. consequently, the layouts can be categorized into five groups such as 'free plan', 'linear type', 'room to room', 'room & corridor' and 'composition type'. The third criteria is about the overall structure of museum layouts including such elements as whether it contains a certain type of central major space or not and whether and how the exhibition spaces are connected to it. By applying these classificatory criteria, the study analyzed and classified 90 sample of museum layouts in order to understand clearly and succintly the spatial characteristics and implications contained in them.

  • In the relationship between exhibition space and art work in art museum, the Pluralism on the late of the 20th century made the new form of exhibition space to be appeared on the stage. Even if formal exhibition space that emphasized itself as a non-spatial background is currently being continued, the informal form of exhibition space is coming to the new art museums, especially after 1990's. This study is to understand how the advent of new designed the informal form of exhibition space in the Glytothek museum(the formal form of exhibition space) design a new paradigm In the relation between the exhibition space and art work in conjunction with public's perception. To do this, it is made clear that the Glytothek museum(the formal form of exhibition space) simply has played a role of non-spatial background. In other hands, the new designed informal form of exhibition space that is mainly presented after 1990's begins to Interrupt the public's perception of art work, changing it's meaning through a spatiality.

  • This study is intended to propose a plan index that can be used in the early stage of a museum design based on theoretical review of a major space of a museum including its spatial division, functions and roles. The scope of the study includes functions and roles of circulation in a major space based on precedent studies. The spatial range is limited to a major space among exhibition spaces in a museum. This study analyzes overseas 14 museums. In terms of methodology, the study analyzes circulation in a descriptive way only In the focusing on floor plan and section composition. The results of this study are as follows. First, vertical elements should be critically considered in a circulation plan for functional performance of dimensional circulation distribution in a major space. Second, a plan by location of vertical and horizontal moving elements related to a major space affects a circulation relation more than a connection type between a major space and an exhibition area.

공간구문론을 이용한 프랭크 게리 뮤지엄 설계의 공간구조에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spatial Structure of Space Syntax in Frank Gehry's Museum Architecture)

  • The goal of this research is to find the difference between F. Gehry's museum architecture's extremely abstract and chaotic space composition and that of other architect's. Gehry's four museum architectures built from late 1980s to 2000 were selected for analysis. Four more museums, built in the same era with the size of that (atypical) museums, were selected for comparative studies. Space Syntax, a quantitative analysis method for spatial configuration, is used to find the characteristics of internal spaces. The Result shows that Gehry's museum architectures' connectivity is 0.375 times bigger and integration is 0.731 times smaller than the compared museums. High connectivity suggests that their visitors could take diverse routes. Low integration implies that their routes are less efficient than the compared museums overall. Their intelligibility is slightly higher than the other museums. This means their visitors have comparatively high understanding of the internal space.

  • The purpose of this study is to consider the correlational factors of space sections based on the fact the exhibition space plays an important role as a medium of displaying art works. And an another purpose is to investigate the characteristics of various types of exhibition unite space from which In intend to suggest basic sources of exhibition design. I classified domestic and foreign museum which are chosen as objects of study according to form and shape of a section plan. Then comparing exhibition space's form and scale exhibited genre lighting system layout composition display and its correlation with an already established thesis on museum architecture I will infer the characteristics of each type of a space. From these studies proper display conditions requested at the museum are different from the genre and property of the exhibited objects. And lighting system display angel of view and appreciation type affect the exhibition area. The shape of space classifies types of section which cause space's characteristics.

안도 다다오의 박물관 건축에 나타난 공간구성과 빛 (An Analysis on the Organization of Space and Light Showed in Ando Tadao' Museum)

  • Purpose : Ando Tadao has his own unique architectural conception to reproduce natural view on site, and he continues to create new architecture without regarding to any principles. Ando Tadao experiments his imagination through the museum architecture, starts organization of space with light, and completes organization of space with light at once. Methods : The research works as follows: 1) Analyzes the meaningful characteristics showed in his architectural works. 2) Analyze organization of space and use of light in museums designed by Ando Tadao. 3) Selecte his representative museums in Korea and Japan, and then analyze space composition and light use through literature study and field survey. Result : The organization of museum space by Ando Tadao has a close relationship with the light. Light designed by Ando Tadao represents unique architectural varieties such as cushioning space, moving line, spatial characterization, and natural influx.

  • This study is to a question in argument that existing theses about a trait spatial configuration of exhibition space were analyzed without appropriateness verification of analysis characteristics. Firstly, through theoretical studies of established thesis, validity twenty analysis characteristics was chosen by making an investigation into existing analysis characteristics. Secondly, through a subject of our investigation, forty-two exhibition space of nineteen museums and art museum at home and abroad, a distribution map of exhibition space was analyzed by multivariate analysis. As a result of this study : 1) Nine analysis characteristics which extracted through multivariate analysis was the principal analysis characteristics. 2) A scale was important characteristic for the classification of museum therefore a degree of space perception was ought to compare every one of similar scale museum. 3) When comparing a trait of spatial configuration at exhibition space, these characteristics came into effect on middle sized museums. 4) It was visually confirmed a trait of spatial configuration of each group between museum and art museum
