Environmental issues and the need to reduce energy consumption for lowering operating costs have pushed power efficiency to become one of the major issues of current research in the field of wireless networks. This paper addresses a number of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) precoding and scheduling techniques across the PHY and MAC layers that can operate under a reduced link budget and collectively improve the transmit power efficiency of a base station, while maintaining the same levels of service. Different MIMO transmission and precoding schemes proposed for LTE, achieving varying degrees of multiuser diversity in both the time, frequency as well as the space domain, are examined. Several fairness-aware resource allocation algorithms are applied to the considered MIMO schemes and a detailed analysis of the tradeoffs between power efficiency and quality of service is presented. This paper explicitly examines the performance of a system serving real-time, VoIP traffic under different traffic loading conditions and transmit power levels. It is demonstrated that by use of efficient scheduling and resource allocation techniques significant savings in terms of consumed energy can be achieved, without compromising QoS.

Conventional MMSE beamforming scheme shows better performance than ZF or MF beamforming, but it does not aim increase of sum rate. This paper proposes sum rate maximizing scheme by representing sum rate as a function of weighted MSE. Proposed scheme increases sum rate iteratively by updating weights and beam whose initial form is conventional MMSE beam. Simulation result shows sum rate of proposed scheme is higher than those of conventional schemes and increases as the number of users increases.
A joint multipath routing algorithm and channel allocation and scheduling for wireless multihop and multichannel systems is discussed. In packet transmission, distribution of packets to multiroutes makes it possible to reduce the transmission cost of the channels. Cross-layer cooperation of routing, channel allocation, and scheduling is an effective method of packet distribution. As a framework for the cooperation, we propose a multiroute distance vector routing (MDVR) scheme. In the MDVR scheme, the routing table is logically placed in between the routing and link layers, and the table plays the role of a service access point between these two layers. To evaluate the performance of MDVR, simulation is performed in a multichannel, multihop environment. The simulation results show that the MDVR framework can be efficiently implemented in the form of a distributed routing algorithm. It is also shown that in MDVR, the system-wise channel efficiency is almost 25% higher than that in a conventional single-route routing approach.

We propose a user selection method in multi-cell multiuser uplink system with the subspace interference alignment to maintain the high sum-rate capacity. The proposed method selects users whose interference to adjacent cells are strong and apply the subspace interference alignment to the users. The proposed method provides that the number of users performing the interference alignment reduces and the high total sum-rate is maintained. Simulation results exhibit the proposed method reduces the number of users who would decompose the channel for the subspace interference alignment by 50% when the required sum-rate is 90% of the maximal achievable sum-rate.

We propose to apply chip interleaving and iterative detection to self-encoded multiple access (SEMA) communications. In SEMA, the spreading code is obtained from user bit information itself without using a pseudo noise code generator. The proposed scheme exploits the inherent diversity in self encoded spread spectrum signals. Chip interleaving not only increases the diversity gain, but also enhances the performance of iterative detection. We employ user-mask and interference cancellation to decouple self-encoded multiuser signals. This paper describes the proposed scheme and analyzes its performance. The analytical and simulation results show that the proposed system can achieve a 3 dB power gain and possess a diversity gain that can yield a significant performance improvement in both Rayleigh and multipath fading channels.

The preservation of temporal dependencies among a group of processes that exchange continuous media at runtime is a key issue for emerging mobile distributed systems (MDS), such as monitoring of biosignals and interactive multiuser games. Although several works are oriented to satisfy temporal dependencies, most of them are not suitable for MDSs. In general, an MDS is characterized by the absence of global references (e.g. shared memory and wall clock), host mobility, limited processing and storage capabilities in mobile hosts, and limited bandwidth on wireless communication channels. This paper proposes an asymmetric synchronization protocol to be used at runtime in an MDS without using a common reference. One main aspect of our synchronization protocol is that it translates temporal constraints to causal dependencies of the continuous media data as seen by the mobile hosts. We simulate the protocol by considering a cellular network environment and by using MPEG-4 encoders. The simulation results show that our protocol is effective in reducing the synchronization error. In addition, the protocol is efficient in terms of processing and storage costs at the mobile devices, as well as in the overhead attached per message across the wired and wireless channels.

MIDAS-II(Multiuser Index-based Data Access System II)는 한국전자통신연구원에서 개발한 바다 DBMS의 저장 시스템이다.

In this paper, an improved detection method is proposed by supplementing various types of Multi-Path gam for a MMSE Multi-User detecter. This method is proposed to complement the shortcomings of the conventional detection method which is used for multiuser detection in STBC(Space-Time Block Code) CDMA system. We analyzed the improved method in bit error probability viewpoint and compared the result with that of the conventional method. In this result, we showed that the improved method obtains better performance of bit error probability than the conventional method when parameters such as delay, number of user and SNR are changed.

In this paper, we introduce a modified interference cancellation scheme for multiuser detection in CDMA. This detector uses successive interference canceller(SIC) and the divided received signal concepts. The active users are splits into two groups large signal power group and small signal power group- throughout ranking, matched filter, decision, regeneration. And each group is subtracted from the received signal respectively to obtain good BER performance. Each of the resulting signal is become respectively SICs input signal The computer simulation and analysis of structure demonstrate that the proposed SIC keeps the SICs BER performance, complexity and reduces SICs delay time.

With the development of multiuser online meetings, more group-oriented technologies and applications for instance collaborative work are becoming increasingly important. Authenticated Group Key Agreement (AGKA) schemes provide a shared group key for users with after their identities are confirmed to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of group communications. On the basis of the Public Key Cryptography (PKC) system used, AGKA can be classified as Public Key Infrastructure-based, Identity-based, and Certificateless. Because the latter type can solve the certificate management overhead and the key escrow problems of the first two types, Certificateless-AGKA (CL-AGKA) protocols have become a popular area of research. However, most CL-AGKA protocols are vulnerable to Public Key Replacement Attacks (PKRA) due to the lack of public key authentication. In the present work, we present a CL-AGKA scheme that can resist PKRA in order to solve impersonation attacks caused by those attacks. Beyond security, improving scheme efficiency is another direction for AGKA research. To reduce the communication and computation cost, we present a scheme with only one round of information interaction and construct a CL-AGKA scheme replacing the bilinear pairing with elliptic curve cryptography. Therefore, our scheme has good applicability to communication environments with limited bandwidth and computing capabilities.
