This paper presents a manufacture of the multiple subjects biotelemetry system using custom CMOS IC fabricated $1.5{\mu}m$ n-well process technology. The implantable circuits of the system except sensor interface circuits including FM transmitter are fabricated on a single chip with the sire of $4{\times}4mm^{2}$. It is possible to assemble the implantable system in a hybrid package as small as $3{\times}3{\times}2.5cm$ by using this chip, It's main function is to enable continuous measurement simultaneously up to 7-channel physiological signals from the selected one among 8 subjects. Another features of this system are to enable continuous measurement of physiological signals, and to accomplish ON/OFF switching of an implanted battery by subject selection signal with command signal from the external circuit. If this system is coupled with another appropriate sensors in medical field, various physiological parameters such as pressure, pH and temperature are to be measured effectively in the near future.

This paper proposes a mathematical model to analyze call-and packet-level performance of the TD-CDMA/TDD system which could serve a flexible radio resource management against multi-type heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffic conditions. On call-level analysis, the mathematical model based on queueing theory performs multi-dimensional operations using random vectors or matrices to consider multiple types of traffic and also deal with asymmetrical up- and down-direction transmissions separately. Employing the mathematical model, we obtain rail blocking probability for each type of traffic and also the optimum switching-point with the smallest call flocking probability. And on packet-level analysis, employing a non-prioritized queueing scheme between circuit and packet calls, we solve 2-dimensional random vector problem composed of the queue length for packets and the number of circuit calls being served. Finally, packet-level performance is analyzed in terms of the packet loss probability and the buffer size required under mixed-traffic conditions of multiple types of circuit and packet calls.

In this paper, we design and implement SPA (Switched Parasitic Antenna) antenna which can control its beampattern using multiple parasitic elements. By applying SPA antenna to wireless communication system and implementing beamforming scheme, we show that SPA antenna can be used to improve the performance of wireless communication systems. SPA antenna consists of a single active antenna and multiple parasitic elements around the active one, and can control its beampattern by switching the parasitic elements. Using this characteristic of the SPA antenna, it is possible to impelemtent beamforming technique with single RF chain, which enables to design low cost, low complexity and low power wireless communication systems. In order to verify the beamforming gain, we measure and analyze the system level performance, such as SNR, PER, and throughput.

This paper presents three multiprocess models for parallel protocol implementation, that is, (1)channel communication model, (2)fork-join model, and (3)event polling model. For the specification of parallelism for each model, a parallel programming language, Par. C System, is used. to measure the performance of multiprocess models, we implemented the Internet Protocol Suite(IPS) Internet Protocol (IP) for each model by writing the parallel language on the Transputer. After decomposing the IP functions into two parts, that is, the sending side and the receiving side, the parallelism in both sides is exploited in the form of Multiple Instruction Single Data (MISD). Three models are evaluated and compared on the basis of various run-time overheads, such as an event sending via channels in the parallel channel communication model, process creating in the fork-join model and context switching in the event polling model, at the sending side and the receiving side. The event polling model has lower processing delays as about 77% and 9% in comparison with the channel communication model and the fork-join model at the sending side, respectively. At the receiving side, the fork-join model has lower processing delays as about 55% and 107% in comparison with the channel communication model and the event polling model, respectively.
In this paper, a direct torque control algorithm with novel duty cycle-based modulation is proposed for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives fed by neutral-point clamped three-level inverters. Compared with the standard DTC, the proposed algorithm can suppress steady-state torque ripples as well as ensure neutral-point potential balance and smooth vector switching. A unified torque/flux evaluation table with multiple voltage vectors and precise control levels is established and used in this method. This table can be used to evaluate the effects of duty-cycle vectors on torque and flux directly, and the elements of the table are independent of the motor parameters. Consequently, a high number of appropriate voltage vectors and their corresponding duty cycles can be selected as candidate vectors to reduce torque ripples by looking up the table. Furthermore, small vectors are incorporated into the table to ensure the neutral-point potential balance with the numerous candidate vectors. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm are verified by both simulations and experiments.
The purpose of the study is to derive success factors of B2C reverse auction business model, a business model contributes to the recent innovative practices in e-commerce and service sector. Electronic reverse auction has been traditionally used to ensure the procurement convenience and purchasing efficiency in B2B or B2G settings, however, e-RA is now expanding its basis toward B2C commerce industry along the huge success of an online e-RA travel service provider Priceline.com. Recently, B2C e-RA business model is getting the spotlight in the Korean venture industry with a variety of startups in diverse areas. However, e-RA does not work perfect in all kinds of trade settings. Therefore, we conducted a multiple case study to find out the success factors of B2C business model as follows : First, large supplier basis is an important factor that constructs a quasi-perfect competition environment. Second, the high online and mobile accessibility or e-readiness of Korean consumers was also a critical aspect of the success of e-RA. Lastly, e-RA performs best when the supplier switching cost is low and the trading occurs infrequently.

In broadband satellite multimedia (BSM) system, burst time plan (BTP) is always periodically generated. We find that this method can have a great effect on the system response ability to bandwidth requests. A general analysis model of BTP generation method is given. An optimized BTP generation (O-BTPG) method is presented by deducing the optimal bandwidth allocation period (BAP) and bandwidth allocation latency (BAL) without considering the signaling overhead caused by BTP. Then a novel asynchronous BTP generation (A-BTPG) method in which the BTP is generated asynchronously according to the traffic load from users' bandwidth requests is proposed. Simulation results show that A-BTPG can flexibly realize a trade-off between the system response ability and BTP signaling overhead. What's more, it can be widely used in various regenerative onboard switching BSM systems.
This paper aims to improve the performance of conventional direct torque control (DTC) drives proposed by Takahashi by extending the idea for 5-level inverter. Hybrid cascaded H-bridge topology is used to achieve inverter voltage vector composed of 5-level of voltage. Although DTC is very popular for its simplicity but it suffers from some disadvantages like- high torque ripple and uncontrollable switching frequency. To compensate these shortcomings conventional DTC strategy is modified for five levels voltage source inverter (VSI). Multilevel hysteresis controller for both flux and torque is used. Optimal voltage vector selection from precise lookup table utilizing 12 sector, 9 torque level and 4 flux level is proposed to improve DTC performance. These voltage references are produced utilizing a hybrid cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter, where inverter each phase can be realized using multiple dc source. Fuel cells, car batteries or ultra-capacitor are normally the choice of required dc source. Simulation results shows that the DTC drive performance is considerably improved in terms of lower torque and flux ripple and less THD. These have been experimentally evaluated and compared with the basic DTC developed by Takahashi.

This paper treats the analytical and experimental studies on the improvement of commutating circuit for the speed control of DC motor. A simple circuit composed of R, L and C elements is proposed here for switching off power SCR carrying the load current. The real important in this chopper circuit is to determine the reasonable values of commutating circuit constants. In this paper, the reasonable values of the commutating circuit constants are basically determined on a view point of commutating performances in the given circuit model and must satisfy the following conditions. The first, the peak commutating current should be larger than the anticipated maximum load current. The second, the circuit turn-off time (tc) must be longer than the SCR turn-off time (tq). The third, the resistor should be enough large to permit the current to be neglected in the analysis of the commutation circuit, as well as be enough small to permit to charge the capacity voltage (Ec) to the half the value of source voltage (E) before the next communication cycle is initiated. The last, the period of chopping signal must be the least possible multiple of the damping vibration period of commutating circuit. The improved chopper circuit used in the experiment under unloaded condition was composed to meet the reasonable conditions mentioned above, and a successful commuting performance was achieved without failure. Several types of microprocessor having a different value of CPU speed individually have been applied to the experiment under the loaded conditions. Also it shows that the faster the speed of CPU is, the more stable the commutation turns out.
The purpose of this study was to develop a computer operated automatic drip irrigation system for application in vinyl-house cultivation. The results can be summarized as follows: 1) The T-type ice compensation wire was used to measure the temperature. The voltage level measured up to 0.02 volt was used as input to an 8-bit A/D converter. 2) A specially devised tensiometer was used to content the watering system. When the needle of the pressure gauge reaches the lower threshold position it turns on the pumping system and turns off when it reaches higher threshold position. 3) In order to use the multiple gypsum blocks for one transducer, reed relays and a D/O board were used to make the sequential switching possible. 4) It was possible to automate the trickle irrigation system for the whole growth period of vinyl-house crops with the help of microcomputer. 5) In terms of furrow irrigation, the irrigation water consumption was the smallest, 2.8 times less than conventional method of surface trickle irrigation, 3.4 times less than subsurface trickle irrigation method. 6) In terms of productivity of cucumber, there was a drop in productivity when compared to furrow irrigation method, 7.2% for surface trickle irrigation, 27.4% for subsurface irrigation method.
