  • Generalized aggressive periodontitis cause intrabony pocket, loss of teeth, and severe alveolar bone defect. As a result, pathologic tooth migration occurs and esthetic problem happens according to this, especially on the anterior teeth of maxilla. The purpose of this study was to assess the multidisciplinary treatment including periodontics, orthodontics and prosthetics of a patient caused by generalized aggressive periodontitis. This study presents a case using full mouth periodontal treatment, immediate orthodontic treatment for 5 months, implantation with guided bone regeneration and free gingival graft, and prosthetic treatment. Treatments took totally 14 months. Periodontal indicators such as probing pocket depth, bleeding on probing, tooth mobility improved. Also, the patient was satisfied with the esthetic and functional improvement.

  • In this study, cruise missile configuration is optimal designed by using multidisciplinary analysis. Aerodynamic, weight, performance and mission analysis modules are developed by FORTRAN and integrated with framework. Darwin algorithm, a global optimization tool, is used for optimization. In the result of optimal design, gross weight of designed configuration is reduced about 17% than baseline configuration while satisfying design constraint conditions.

  • The single phase $Ba_2SiS_4$ doped with $Eu^{2+}$ was successfully synthesized by direct sulfurization of an oxide precursor prepared by a spray drying method using a novel water soluble silicon compound, which remains soluble in a given aqueous solution. The intensity of the emission peak of thus obtained $Ba_2SiS_4:Eu^{2+}$ was 1.75 times larger than that of a sample prepared by a solid state reaction method, and it approached 106% compared to one of the best commercially available YAG:$Ce^{3+}$ phosphor.

  • A series of $Eu^{2+}/Mn^{2+}$ co-activated $Ba_{1.98-x}Sr_xZnS_3$ red emission phosphors was synthesized using the polymerizable complex method. The excitation spectra of the materials contain two wide bands centered at 345nm and 445nm, implicating their possible use for white LED lighting applications. In addition, substitution of Sr for Ba by 20% (x=0.4) improved drastically the emission intensity as well as the internal quantum efficiency compared to those for Sr-free $Ba_2ZnS_3:Eu^{2+}/Mn^{2+}$ phosphor.

  • By utilizing a field emission gun and a biprism installed on a transmission electron microscope (TEM), electron holography is extensively carried out to visualize the electric and magnetic fields of nanomaterials. In the electric field analysis, the distribution of electric potential in a sharp tip made of W coated with $ZrO_2$ is visualized by applying the voltage to the tip. Denser contour lines due to the electric potential are observed with an increase in the bias voltage. In the magnetic field analysis by producing the strong magnetic field with a sharp magnetic needle made of a permanent magnet, the in situ experiment is carried out to investigate the magnetization of hard magnetic materials. The results of these experiments clearly demonstrate that electron holography is a promising advanced transmission electron microscopy technique to characterize the electric and magnetic properties of nanomaterials.

  • Sarcopenia is a condition in which muscle mass and strength are decreased and muscle function is impaired. It is an indicator of frailty and loss of independence in older adults. It is also associated with increased physical disability, which increases the risk of falls. As a multifactorial disease, sarcopenia is caused by a combination of factors including aging, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, and physical inactivity. Understanding the underlying pathophysiology of sarcopenia and identifying its different causes is critical to developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. This review summarizes the pathophysiology, consequences, diagnostic methods, and multidisciplinary approaches to sarcopenia.

  • Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a dismal tumor with a high incidence, prevalence and poor prognosis and survival. Management of HCC necessitates multidisciplinary clinics due to the wide heterogeneity in its presentation, different therapeutic options, variable biologic behavior and background presence of chronic liver disease. We studied the different prognostic factors that affected survival of our patients to improve future HCC management and patient survival. Materials and Methods: This study is performed in a specialized multidisciplinary clinic for HCC in Kasr El Eini Hospital, Cairo University, Egypt. We retrospectively analyzed the different patient and tumor characteristics and the primary mode of management applied to our patients. Further analysis was performed using univariate and multivariate statistics. Results: During the period February 2009 till February 2013, 290 HCC patients presented to our multidisciplinary clinic. They were predominantly males and the mean age was $56.5{\pm}7.7years$. All cases developed HCC on top of cirrhosis that was mainly due to HCV (71%). Most of our patients were Child-Pugh A (50%) or B (36.9%) and commonly presented with small single lesions. Transarterial chemoembolization was the most common line of treatment used (32.4%). The overall survival was 79.9% at 6 months, 54.5% at 1 year and 22.4% at 2 years. Serum bilirubin, site of the tumor and type of treatment were the significant independent prognostic factors for survival. Conclusions: Our main prognostic variables are the bilirubin level, the bilobar hepatic affection and the application of specific treatment (either curative or palliative). Multidisciplinary clinics enhance better HCC management.

  • In this study, the reliablility based design optimization is peformed for an aircraft wing. The flexiblility of the wing was assumed by considering the interaction modeled by static aeroelasticity between aerodynamic forces and the structure. For a multidisciplinary design optimization the results of aerodynamic analysis and structural analysis were included in the optimization formulation. The First Order Reliability Method(FORM) was employed to consider the uncertainty of the designed points.

  • We developed a panel of innovative solution-based approaches for synthesis of multicomponent sulfide phosphor materials. The application of these synthesis strategies allowed for preparation of high-purity and high-brightness $BaAl_2S_4:Eu$ and $Ba_2SiS_4:Eu$ phosphors and led to the discovery of new phosphors suitable for application in the LED-based lighting including $Sr_2ZnS_3:Eu$, $CaBaSiS_4:Eu$ and $(Ba,Sr)_2ZnS_3:Eu$.
