본 연구는 일본의 다문화공생에 관한 지침과 집행사례에 관한 연구를 통해서 한국의 다문화사회에 관한 입법정책과 정책적 지침, 실질적인 집행에 주는 시사점을 얻는 것을 그 목적으로 하고 있다. 구체적으로는 서구의 다문화주의와는 다른 일본의 다문화공생의 특징을 살펴보고, 일본정부의 추진 지침과 그 현황, 그리고 지자체의 지원사례를 통해 정책적인 함의를 도출한다. 결론적으로 장기에 거친 일본정부의 다문화공생의 지침과 지자체를 통한 유형별 집행이 사회통합에 도움을 줄 수 있음을 밝혔다.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to verify the effect of receptivity to multiculturalism on marriage conflict of international marriage couples and mediation effect of communication between two variables. Method: The subjects are 205 individuals of mixed couples who are living in S. Korea. The mediation analysis was based on structural equation modeling followed by bootstrapping with the use of AMOS 22.0. The demographic variables are also controlled in the data analysis. Goodness-of-fit test using RMR, GFI, IFI, TLI, and CFI was conducted. Results: The study results were as follows: first, receptivity to multiculturalism had a direct effect on marital conflict and communication; second, communication had a direct effect on marital conflict; third, communication had a mediation effect between receptivity to multiculturalism and marital conflict. Conclusions: We could verify in this study that receptivity to multiculturalism and communication is the important factor for marital conflicts of mixed couples. More specifically, communication has a critical role for marriage life of mixed couples.

세계 각지에서 다문화로 인한 여러 가지 문제가 발생하면서 다문화주의에 대한 부정적 인식이 대두되고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 다문화주의를 가치 지향적인 사조로 견지해야 하는 까닭은 다문화가 자유민주주의 시장경제 체제의 필연적인 현상이기에 분리할 수 없고 섣부른 다문화주의의 퇴조는 반인륜적 배타적 민족주의로 퇴행할 가능성이 있기 때문이다. 본 연구는 사회에서 다문화주의의 가치가 왜곡되는 기저에 사회 구성원들의 인식에 영향을 미치는 담론의 요소로서 로맨스 영화의 신화가 존재한다고 가정한다. 로맨스영화의 스토리텔링 구조는 원질서사에 입각해 궁정식 사랑을 모티브로 취하며 서사 전략적 차원에서 시련으로 치환되는 다문화는 다문화주의의 의미를 왜곡시킨다. 로맨스 영화의 캐릭터는 피상적 이미지와 명시적 의미 위주로 구성되는 경향이 있는데 이 과정에서 마이너리티가 위계화 되고 주변부로 밀려난 또 다른 마이너리티는 담론에서 배제된다. 로맨스를 통해 타자에 대한 관용을 도모하려는 시도는 이항대립적 구조속에 유폐되고 종국에 상투적인 결말로 인해 와해된다.

본 연구는 서구의 이주자 정책의 변화를 동화주의, 다문화주의, 사회통합 정책을 중심으로 살펴보면서, 정책 변화에 내재한 주류사회의 인식과 담론을 비판적으로 접근하고자 하며, 이를 토대로 우리나라 이주자 정책에 대한 시사점을 도출하고자 한다. 1970년대에 접어들면서 동화주의 정책은 문화적 다양성을 간과한다는 점에서 비판을 받게 되었고, 다문화주의 정책이 도입되면서 이주자의 권리와 문화적 차이가 강조되었다. 그러나, 다문화주의 정책은 이주자-주류사회 간 사회적 고립과 분리를 야기한다는 주장이 제기되었다. 이러한 문제에 직면하여 2000년대에 접어들어 사회통합 정책이 대두되었고, 사회통합 정책은 이주자로 하여금 주류사회의 가치와 문화 수용, 사회경제적 활동의 참여를 강조한다. 하지만, 사회통합 정책은 이주자를 통제의 대상으로 인식함과 동시에, 차별의 대상으로 인식하는 문제점을 드러내고 있다. 서구의 이주자 정책에서의 경험은 향후 우리나라의 이주자 정책에서 이주자의 사회적 포함, 다문화주의와 사회통합의 문제점 분석, 주류사회의 문화변용의 필요성에 대한 시사점을 제공할 것으로 판단된다.

Multicultural theories fully fledged around the 1980s and the early 1990s. Emerging in the 1960s thanks to the Civil Rights movement, multiculturalism has become the grand American national narratives, whose tenets recognize and respect people with diverse racial and cultural backgrounds. This period, however, witnessed the eruption of violent and destructive rebellions or uprisings involving racial minorities. Racial conflicts and tensions exploded at the moment when multiculturalism was widely practiced in areas including education and public policy revealing that complicated problems are embedded in the urban ghettos. American popular culture, specifically addresses antagonisms among different races or ethnicities in Bed-Stuy in New York. Although the film is mainly concerned with the collision among races, it lets ambivalent and cacophonous values and ideologies be present in the black community. On the other hand, Ice Cube's "Black Korea" empowers the black community when it deals with the turbulent relationship between black residents and Korean American merchants. Simultaneously, it denigrates Korean Americans as gasta raps often target the institution like government or police. In short, while attempts to search the ideas of coexistence and juxtaposition through polyphonic features embodied in the film "Black Korea" seems to depend on the dualistic system when it deals with the black-Korean conflicts and as a result it just reveals the chasm between two communities.

Purpose - The multicultural society is a society where a variety of ethnic groups and cultures co-exist. Regarding Korean multicultural society, the public interest in the multicultural society and its problems are on a growing trend due to the increasing number of the multicultural families by international marriage and the foreign immigrant workers. Research design, data, and methodology - Models of the multicultural society policies have been divided into those of assimilation and multiculturalism, while they have been materialized into the models of discriminative exclusivism, assimilation and multiculturalism. Most countries are aiming at the model of either the multiculturalism or the assimilation focused on national managerial situations. Results - In the case of Europe where the multicultural society had been formed earlier than Korea, Islamic immigrants have been politically accepted in order for Europe to overcome the problem of population decrease caused by its low birth-rate. Also, in the case of the United States. Conclusions - Korean multicultural society policies are characterized mostly by supporting the multicultural families of international marriage. In this study, it is intended to present the characteristics of diversified immigrants and the possible directions of the polices on immigrant youth in accordance with each country's managerial policy.

본 연구에서는 한국 영화 <방가?방가!>, <완득이>를 통해서 얻은 외국인에 대한 한국인의 다문화 수용 양상과 언어와 사회와의 관계를 살펴보았다. 그리고 한국 다문화 가정 속의 언어형태에 대해서 결혼이주민 여성을 대상으로 설문 조사했다. 그 내용과 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. (1) 한국인의 다문화 수용 양상은 서로 간의 이해관계가 없는 경우 다소 긍정적이라는 점. (2) 외국인이 쉽게 언어를 접하고 습득할 수 있는 방법은 그 사회와 문화에 있다는점. 외국인 근로자들이 사회 속에서 속어나 은어와 같은 위상 (位相) 언어를 사용하고 있다는 점은 언어와 특정 사회의 관계를 보여 주는 단적인 예라고 볼 수 있다. (3) 한국 다문화 가정 속의 언어형태는 주로 한국어로 사용되지만, "1 언어사용자(monolingual)"와의 원활한 의사소통을 위해 두 개의 언어를 동시에 사용하고 있다는 점이다. 이것을 "2 언어 사용(bilingualism)"이라고 하는데, 본 연구 결과에서는 "청해형 2 언어 사용"의 언어형태를 보이고 있다고 판단된다. 앞으로는 국제화 시대에 향후 한국 사회도 다문화 수용성 개선을 위해서는 다문화 관련 콘텐츠 개발과 의사소통에 국한 시키는 한국어 교육이 아닌 다문화 가정을 위한 "2 언어 사용(bilingualism)" 교육 프로그램 개발이 시급하다고 생각된다.

This essay is an attempt to critique the notion of hybridity that has so far facilitated a liberal multiculturalist reading of White Teeth. For an alternative framework, it posits the multiethnic subject-making to examine in what ways the novel questions the premises of liberal multiculturalism. In this vein, this study suggests that Smith throws some significant light on the underside of holding multiple racial/ethnic identities while not bypassing its utopian possibilities. In case of the first-generation male characters, their crossracial/homosocial friendship becomes a platform for a mode of egalitarian belonging across the racial divide. It further implies a symbolic union between working-class white and nonwhite immigrant. The younger generation, in contrast, undergoes problems of racial, ethnic, cultural affiliations in far more complicated ways than the older one. Above all, White Teeth demonstrates the subtle workings of liberal multiculturalism, within which the younger characters are constructed to be a multiethnic subject in varied modes. It delineates the formation mainly by exploring the persisting legacies of Britain's imperial history that partake in their subject-making. The novel, in doing so, obliquely suggests that the younger generation is to confront the past that is a seminal part of their present life rather than have the freedom to throw it away to be a carefree member of a multicultural society.

우리나라의 경제성장과 노동력 부족현상, 세계화에 따른 입국간소화조치 등은 동남아 저소득 국가를 중심으로 한 외국인들의 대량 입국과 국제결혼을 증가시켰다. 이들은 한국사회의 다문화 현상을 가중시켰으며 이는 다문화주의가 가져올 다양한 사회문제 가운데 치안환경의 악화에도 영향을 주며 새로운 사회부작용의 요소가 되는 결과를 초래하고 있다. 더욱이 9.11테러 이후 전세계적으로 급증하고 있는 테러에 대한 위협은 뉴테러리즘이라는 경향과 더불어 우리나라에 또 다른 위협과 불안요소로 자리 잡고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 다문화주의에 따른 이러한 자생테러리즘의 가능성을 점검해보고 그에 따른 대책을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위한 방안으로는 다문화주의에 대한 국가와 국민들의 이해와 동참을 이끌어내고 다양한 국가의 문화와 전통을 이해하고 배려하는 성숙한 시민의식이 우선적으로 요구되고 있으며, 자생테러리즘의 위험성에 대한 가능성을 면밀히 검토할 필요가 있다. 뿐만 아니라 테러대응체계에 대한 전면적인 검토를 통하여 테러의 예방과 진압에 효율성을 기할 수 있는 제도적 장치에 대한 마련도 시급한 실정이다.

본 연구는 리빙랩 프로젝트의 문제정의 단계에서 도출된 다문화 용어 사용에 대한 지역아동센터 관계자들이 느끼는 '불편함'에 근거하여 시작되었고, '불편함'이 무엇인지 선행연구고찰, 뉴스기사 분석을 통한 다문화용어 사용실태 파악 그리고 현장 전문가를 대상으로 하는 심층 인터뷰 등을 연구내용으로 한 탐색적 연구이다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 우리 사회에 소개된 다문화 용어에 대해 선행연구를 분석한 결과, '다문화주의', '다문화사회', '다문화교육', '다문화가족', '다문화가정' 등 5가지 다문화용어가 정리되었다. 둘째, 2001년부터 2021년까지 5가지 다문화 용어로 추출된 뉴스 기사의 빈도 변화를 통해 다문화 용어 사용실태를 살펴본 결과, '다문화주의'는 2000년대 초반에 주로 나타나다가 2006년부터 비율이 급격하게 줄어들고 있었고, '다문화사회'와 '다문화교육'은 꾸준히 작성되고 있었다. 이에 비해 '다문화가족'과 '다문화가정'은 2003년과 2004년에 처음 등장하는데, 2009년 이후 정책 용어인 '다문화가족'과 '다문화가정'으로 추출되는 뉴스기사의 양은 80%를 넘었고, 2013년과 2014년에는 90%를 초과하였다. 셋째, 다문화 용어에 대해 연구 참여자들은 '다문화가족'과 '다문화가정'은 잘 알고 있었고, '다문화주의'는 거의 알지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 다문화 용어 학습 이전에 실시한 인터뷰에서는 '다문화가족'과 '다문화가정'에 대해 익숙하지만 불편한 용어 그리고 구분 짓는 용어로 인식하고 있었고, '다문화주의', '다문화사회', '다문화교육' 등은 추상적이고 낯선 용어로 인식하였다. 다문화 용어에 대한 학습 이후 진행한 인터뷰에서 연구 참여자들은 서로 다른 의미를 가진 다문화 용어가 혼용되고 있음에 대해 혼란스럽고 정리가 필요하다는 인식을 보였다.
