  • Our proposed mobility management scheme is based on Multicasting and HIP(Host Identity Protocol) in PMIPv6(Proxy Mobile IPv6) Networks, and allows users to handoff within and across different administrative domains. The main advantage of our scheme is to enable the inter-domain handoff of both types of nodes with a reduced signalling overhead and packet losses. Specifically, the scheme enables the interworking between host-based and network-based mobility support, by means of the interaction between PMIPv6 with Multicasting and HIP. Performance evaluations demonstrate that our scheme improves the handoff latency and packet losses compared to other global mobility management protocols.

  • In mobile ad hoc networks, an application scenario requires mostly collaborative mobility behavior. The key problem of those applications is scalability with regard to the number of multicast members as well as the number of the multicast group. To enhance scalability with group mobility, we have proposed a multicast protocol based on a new framework for hierarchical multicasting that is suitable for the group mobility model in MANET. The key design goal of this protocol is to solve the problem of reflecting the node's mobility in the overlay multicast tree, the efficient data delivery within the sub-group with group mobility support, and the scalability problem for the large multicast group size. The results obtained through simulations show that our approach supports scalability and efficient data transmission utilizing the characteristic of group mobility.

  • When demand for transmitting multimedia data increases, network congestion is more likely to occur and users will suffer high loss rate as well as high delay. In order to enhance quality-of-service (QoS) of video multicasting, we need to raise transmission reliability and reduce end-to-end delay. This paper proposes a routing mechanism for a OpenFlow-based small-scale network in order to multicast video reliably with low delay. In our method, multipath routing will be applied to Multiple Description (MD) Coded video to exploit its multi-description property. Through performance evaluation, our method shows improvement on loss rate, delay and video distortion.

  • The widespread use of the Internet has led to the problem of intellectual property and copyright infringement. Digital rights management (DRM) technologies have been developed to protect digital content items. Digital content can be classified into static content (for example, text or media files) and dynamic content (for example, VOD or multicast streams). This paper deals with the protection of a multicast stream on set-top boxes connected to an IP network. In this paper, we examine the following design and architectural issues to be considered when applying DRM functions to multicast streaming service environments: transparent streaming service and large-scale user environments. To address the transparency issue, we introduce a 'selective encryption scheme'. To address the second issue, a 'key packet insertion scheme' and 'hierarchical key management scheme' are introduced. Based on the above design and architecture, we developed a prototype of a multicasting DRM system. The analysis of our implementation shows that it supports transparent and scalable DRM multicasting service in a large-scale user environment.

  • Designing a reliable multicast-based network that scales to the size of a multicast group member is difficult because of the diversity of user demands. The loss inferences of internal nodes by end-to-end measurements do not require the use of complete statistics because of the use of maximum likelihood estimation. These schemes are very efficient and the inferred value converges fast to its true value. In the theoretical analysis, internal delay estimation is possible but the analysis is very complex due to the continuity property of the delay. In this paper, we propose the use of a bottleneck location estimator. This can overcome the analytical difficulty of the delay estimation using the power spectrum of the packet interarrival time as the performance metric. Both theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed scheme can be used for bottleneck location inference of internal links in scalable multicasting.

  • In mobile network, the maintenance o( host grouping or the multicast delivery tree for multicasting algorithm becomes a major issues. In this paper, we explore the issues of mobile Multicast scheme using Mobile-IPv6, and addresses case when a mobile host is a source as well as a recipient of a given multicast operation using MLD(Multicast Listener Discovery) scheme, and the proposed MLD-based multicasting protocol asks its HA(Home Agent) to stop forwarding multicast for group using tunneling. We examine and compare our model to existing approaches by proposed cost model, and observe an improved ferformacne.

  • The main bottleneck for a VOD system is bandwidth of storage or network I/O due to the high bandwidth requirements and long-lived nature of digital video. Patching is one of the most efficient techniques to overcome the bottleneck of the VOD system through the use of multicast scheme. In this paper, we propose a new patching scheme, P2P proxy patching, for improving the typical patching technique by jointly using the proxy prefix caching scheme and the P2P proxy. In our proposed scheme, each client play a role in a proxy for multicasting a regular stream to other clients that request the same stream. Due the use of the P2P proxy and the prefix caching, the server bandwidth is required significantly less than that of the typical patching technique. In the performance study, we show that our patching scheme can reduce the server bandwidth requirements compared with the existing patching techniques.

  • A wide class of networking application services, such as video teleconferencing, VOD, LAN bridging, and distributed data processing require multipoint communications. The essential component inteh network to achieve this is a multicast packet switch which is capable of packet replication and switching. In this paper, we propose an efficient mukticast addressing scheme using the smallest number of routing bits which is deterministic lower bound. The new scheme performs all point-to-multipoint connection in radix-2 tree ATM switch like banyan network. Also, we provide a simple radix-2 switch block diagram for achieving our algorithm. And we investigate several addressing schemes for implementing multicasting in radix-r tree ATM switch and evaluate several performance factors, such as complexity of the additional header bits, requirement of the internal speedup and complexity of the major hardware.

  • VoIP(voice over internet protocol) technology is based on IP protocol. The IP protocol can be involved in two types of communication: unicasting and multicasting. Unicasting is the communication between one sender and one receiver. It is one-to-one communication. Multicasting is one-to-many communication. So that, many receivers can get same data from one sender simultaneously. and, the different protocol are proposed for VoIP; H.323, SIP and MGCP. MGCP is perfect server-client protocol, so MGCP is very attractive VoIP protocol to ISP. This paper uses MGCP and offers modified MGCP for conference call. So that, Modified MGCP is compatible to MGCP, and supports conference call using IP-multicast.
