In this paper, we study a simulation model for cooperative MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) channels and present a cooperative one-ring channel model which is extended from the geometrical one-ring and two-ring scattering models. Assuming that the source, the destination and the relay are surrounded by an infinite number of scatters, we derive a reference model for the cooperative one-ring channel and propose a simulation model based on the reference model provided in the paper. Then we show how modeling parameters of the simulation model are determined to match the correlation functions for the respective models. With numerical investigation, we also show that the correlation functions for the reference and the simulation are well matched.
Ring forging process is more appropriate for high-length and thin walled ring, because it utilizes the forging press and hence does not require heavy-duty ring rolling mill. Although ring forging process is very simple and economic for facilities, the process is not efficient because of multi-forging-step and low material utilization. An effective ring forging process is developed using a hollow ingot. When a hollow ingot is used with a workpiece, the ingot can be forged into a final ring without multi-stage pre-forging process, such as, cogging, upsetting, and piercing, etc.. Finally it has advantages of the material utilization and process improvement because a few reheating and forging process are not necessary to make workpiece for ring forging. The important design variables are the applied plastic deformation energy to eliminate cast structure and make uniform properties. In this study, the mechanical properties after forging of hollow cast ingot were investigated from the experiment using circumferential sectional model. Also, the effects of process variables were studied by FEM simulation on the basis of thermo-visco-plastic constitutive equation. Applied strain is different at each position in length direction because diameter of hollow ingot is different in length direction. The different strain distribution become into a narrow gap by additional plastic deformation during diameter extension process.
This paper presents the contact stress distributions between the multi-contact bodies and the total reaction forces for various types of contact geometry for multi-load slewing ring bearings. The FEM results indicate that the slope of the roller type of slewing ring bearing has slightly steeper than that of the ball type. This is because the roller type wire race bearings is stiffer than the ball type bearing. The total reaction force of ball type slewing bearing shows much higher than that of wire race slewing bearings.
This paper proposes the architecture of a multiple ring based optical network with single hop between edge nodes using either the concept of circuit switching or multi-wavelength label. The structure of the multi-wavelength label, be shown through the single wavelength-band and the multiple wavelength-band that can reduce number of ring. To avoid the collision of the optical packets at an outward port, we proposed the dynamic allocation scheme of the outward optical packets based on the fiber do]ay lines(FDLs).

The important considerations in the design of fiber-optic networks are reliability and survivability preparing against a failure. The SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), the international standard of optical transmission, offers several network reconfiguration methods that enable network to be automatically restored from failure. One of the methods is the SHR(Self Healing Ring), which is a ring topology system. Most network providers have constructed their backbone networks with SHR architecture since it can provide survivability economically. The network architecture has eventually evolved into a multi-ring network comprised of interconnected rings. This paper addresses multi-ring network design problems is to minimize ring-construction cost. This problem can be formulated with MIP(mixed integer programming) model. However, it is difficult to solve the model within reasonable computing time on a large scale network because the model is NP-complete. Furthermore, in practice we should consider the problem of routing demands on rings to minimize total cost. This routing problem involves multiplex bundling at the intermediate nodes. A family of heuristic algorithms is presented for this problem. These algorithms include gateway selection and routing of inter-ring demands as well as load balancing on single rings. The developed heuristic algorithms are applied to some network provider's regional and long-distance transmission networks. We show an example of ring design and compare it with another ring topology design. Finally, we analysis the effect bundling.

This paper proposes architecture and characteristics of a multi-ring based optical network with single-hop between edge nodes using the concept of circuit switching and multi-wavelength label switching to solve delay problem caused by applying crossconnectors as transit nodes in the wavelength division multiplexing(WDM) network. We suggest multi-ring based architecture composed single and multiple wavelength-bands with multi-wavelength labels, and analyze characteristics of two models. To avoid the packet collision in output ports of edge nodes due to output contention, the static and dynamic allocation scheme, which packets are allocated in time slots, is provided. Based on our analysis, it shows that delay only occur in not core nodes but edge nodes in the proposed architecture. In addition, we evaluate the probabilities of delay, packet loss, and call blocking in the proposed optical packet network.
Ethernet ring protection (ERP) technology, which is defined in ITU-T Recommendation G.8032, has been developed to provide carrier grade recovery for Ethernet ring networks. However, the filtering database (FDB) flush method adopted in the current ERP standard has the drawback of introducing a large amount of transient traffic overshoot caused by flooded Ethernet frames right after protection switching. This traffic overshooting is especially critical when a ring provides services to a large number of clients. According to our experimental results, the traditional FDB flush requires a link capacity about sixteen times greater than the steady state traffic bandwidth. This paper introduces four flush optimization schemes to resolve this issue and investigates how the proposed schemes deal with the transient traffic overshoot on a multi-ring network under failure conditions. With a network simulator, we evaluate the performance of the proposed schemes and compare them to the conventional FDB flush scheme. Among the proposed methods, the extended FDB advertisement method shows the fastest and most stable protection switching performance.

An integrated analysis for the thermo-elastic deformation, fatigue, wear and brittle damage evolution of the shrink-fitted die with multi stress-ring of dissimilar materials is presented. A simple numerical algorithm for the moving elastic boundaries characterizing the contacts of the insert and multi stress-rings is presented. The initial stress distribution in the die due to shrink-fit is considered and the traction at the die surface contacting with the work piece is obtained by analyzing the elasto-plastic deformation of work piece. Elastic analysis of the separate-type die is performed and then the evolution of brittle damage, wear and fatigue life are predicted. This integrated analysis is applied to the extrusion die with two layers of stress-rings and the results are discussed in detail.
Multi-pass shape rolling is performed to produce long products of arbitrary cross-sectional shapes. In the past, the multi-pass shape rolling process has been designed by the trial and error method or the experience of experts based on the empirical approach. Particularly, the design of roll caliber in shape rolling is important to improve product quality and dimensional accuracy. In this paper, the caliber design and pass schedule of multi-pass shape rolling were proposed for manufacturing piston ring wire. In order to design roll caliber, major shape parameter and dimension was determined by analysis of various caliber design. FE-simulation was conducted to verify effectiveness of proposed process design. At first, forming simulation was performed to predict shape of the product. Then, fracture of the wire was evaluated by critical damage value using normalized Cockcroft-Latham criteria. The experiment was carried out and the results are within the allowable tolerance.

This study was carried out to investigate the engineering characteristics of the R.C circular ring sector plate with various boundary conditions and then to propose a rational and paraical method for application of finite element method to R.C structures. The stiffness matrix of the circular ring sector plate was obtained by using the multi-base coordinate system in which the base-coordinate systems were constructed for each nodal point of the quadrilateral element in order to reflect the complicated boundary conditions conveniently and correctly. The R.C element stiffness matrix was constructed by adding the stiffness coefficients of the steel-bar element into the plate bending element stiffness matrix. Herein, the steel-bar element was treated as the common beam element. Using the above method, the effects of steel-bar can be considered without increasing of the numbers of element and nodal points.
