Sloshing of fuel in a liquid propellant tank is an important part of the dynamic and the stability analysis of the rocket. Baffles are installed in a propellant tank to reduce the instability due to sloshing. Multi degree of spring-mass-damper model was used to model sloshing of fuel in an axisymmetric tank. The natural frequencies and damping ratios are estimated. In order to verify the estimated natural frequencies and damping ratios, tests are performed for the real propellant tank of KSR-III with single ring baffle. Results of fuel sloshing analysis are compared with those of tests.
In this report, we describe the anatomical features of Gmelina arborea Roxb. belong to the genera of Verbenaceae native to Bangladesh and safranine penetration depth in radial and longitudinal directions. The wood of this species was characterized mostly by distinct growth ring boundaries, diffuse-porous, simple perforations, alternate non-vestured intervessel pits, and relatively short vessel elements and medium fibers. Thin to thick walled septate fibers with simple to minutely bordered pits are confined to the radial walls. Tyloses are common. They are paratracheal axial parenchyma vascicnetric and confluent. Rays not higher than 1milimeter are found, and larger rays commonly 4 to 5 seriate are dominantly present, as are multi seriate rays composed of a procumbent ray with 1 row of square or upright cells. Acicular crystals are present in ray cells. Another experiment was taken under consideration to observe the liquid penetration depth in longitudinal and radial directions using safranine. It was found that safranine penetrated easily in longitudinal direction and sapwood was more permeable than heartwood.
This Study typed the roof-design in analysis of structural design of the glulam architecture, developed worldwidely, nowaday. For this, it is studied the characters of glulam as the history of glulam architectures, manufacture of glulam, shapes and section of glulam, fireproof and combution of glulam. And it is studied roof-design according to structural type of glulam roof-structure. Conclusively, types of glulam roof design typied as 1)the Simple Beam str., 2)the Multi-Joints continous Beam str. 3)the Hinge str. 4)the Rahmen str. 5)the Archi str. 6)the Grid str. 7)etc str. (Folded-plate str., Radial str., Cylinder Shell str., Ring Dome str., Geodesic Dome str., Conic Coloid Shell str., H.P Shell str. Cantilever Shell str.)
One of the recent and most significant technical properties can be expressed as "digital convergence," which is helping lead the technical paradigm into a ubiquitous environment. As an initial trial of realizing a ubiquitous environment, the convergence between broadcasting and telecommunication fields is now on the way, where it is required to develop a scalable video coding scheme for one-source and multi-use media. Traditional scalable video coding schemes have, however, limitations for higher stable picture quality especially on the region of interest. Therefore, this paper introduces an adaptive scanning method especially designed for a higher regional-stable picture quality under a ubiquitous video coding environment, which can improve the subjective quality of the decoded video by most-preferentially encoding, transmitting, and decoding the top-priority image information of the region of interest. Thus, the video can be more clearly visible to users. From various simulation results, the proposed scanning method in this paper can achieve an improved subjective picture quality far better than the widely used raster scan order in conventional video coding schemes, especially on the region of interest, and without a significant loss of quality in the left-over region.
Flux concentrated permanent magnet transverse flux machines, FCPM-TFMs, with segmented stators require multi-turn concentric saddle coils to replace the ring coils, which are normally utilized in conventional layeredphase TFM constructions. In this paper, we investigate the influence of the shape of saddle phase windings and their parameter variations on the output torque productivity. Non-meshed coils evaluated via a finite element method (FEM) to examine the effect of the coil's location within one phase on machine performance. By using meshed coils, the analysis can be extended to inspect the distributions of magnetic field strength as well as current density in the coils. Throughout the study, the influence of design parameters on the output torque for two stator structures, i.e., a laminated and soft magnetic composite (SMC), are evaluated.
The purpose of development is to localize a connector for connection of cable and GIS for underground transmission system. The cable connector for GIS provides electrical insulation of GIS housing part and makes connection of ultra high voltage electrical apparatus and power cable by controlling electrical stress between electrodes of power cable termination. Generally Korean switchgear makers are using a connector for GIS made by foreign companies. We manufactured sample by best structure design of great capacity conductor connecting part and then modified the design by analysis of shape and section. We completed the suitable sample for current cycling test condition of conductor connecting part sample and ensured surge characteristics of line by short-time current test.
The fabric composite rings for nozzle parts of solid rocket motors should be thick to endure high temperature and pressure of combustion gas. Since the thermal residual stresses developed during manufacturing of the axi-symmetric composite structures increase as the thickness increases and eventually induce failures during storage and operation, the estimation of the residual stresses is indispensable for design and manufacture of the thick composite nozzle parts. In this paper, thick fabric rings made of carbon fabric phenolic composites were fabricated in a hydroclave and in an autoclave using a multi-step pre-compaction process to minimize draping. The residual stresses distributed in the rings were measured by the radial-cut method and it was found that the compaction reduces the residual stresses in the composite ring.
Effects of frictional laws on finite element solutions in metal forming were investigated in this paper. A rigid-viscoplastic finite element formulation was given with emphasis on the frictional laws. The Coulomb friction and the constant shear friction laws were compared through finite element analyses of compression of rings and cylinders with different aspect ratios, ring-gear forging, multi-stage cold extrusion and hot strip rolling under the isothermal condition. It has been shown that two laws may yield quite different results when the aspect ratio of a process and the fractional contact region are large.

The generation of axisymmetric Lamb waves and interaction with wall thinning (corrosion) defects in hollow cylinders are simulated using the finite element method. Guided wave interaction with defects in cylinders is challenged by the multi-mode dispersion and the mode conversion. In this paper, two longitudinal, axisymmetric modes are generated using the concept of a time-delay periodic ring arrays (TDPRA), which makes use of the constructive/destructive interference concept to achieve the unidirectional emission and reception of guided waves. The axisymmetric scattering by the wall thinning extending in full circumference of a cylinder is studied with a two-dimensional FE simulation. The effect of wall thinning depth, axial extension, and the edge shape on the reflections of guided waves is discussed.
