Multi-scaled retinex algorithm is generally used to enhance the local contrast and remove the illuminant component. However, if the chromatic distribution of an original image is not uniform and dominated by a certain chromaticity, the chromaticity of resulting image depends on the dominant chromaticity of the original image, thereby inducing the color distortion. In this paper, a modified multi-scaled retinex method to reduce the influence of the dominant chromaticity in the image is proposed using a average chromaticity of original image and global illuminant chromaticity. In addition, to compensate saturation, the chroma value of the resulting image is enhanced based on that of the original image in the CIELAB space.
We presents a new algorithm for tracking person in video sequence that integrates the meanshift iteration procedure into the particle filtering. Utilizing the nice property of convergence to the modes in the meanshift iteration we show that only a few sample points are sufficient, while in general the particle filtering requires a large number of sample points. Multi-parts of a person is tracked independently of each other based on the color Then, the similarity against the reference model color and the geometric constraints between multi-parts are reflected as the sample weights. Also presented is the computer simulation results, which show successful tracking even for complex background clutter.

High dynamic range (HDR) images can present the perfect real scene and rich color information. A commonly encountered problem in practical applications is how to well visualize HDR images on standard display devices. In this paper, we propose a multi-scale decomposition method using guided filtering for HDR image tone mapping. In our algorithm, HDR images are directly decomposed into three layers:base layer, coarse scale detail layer and fine detail layer. We propose an effective function to compress the base layer and the coarse scale detail layer. An adaptive function is also proposed for detail adjustment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm effectively accomplishes dynamic range compression and maintains good global contrast as well as local contrast. It also presents more image details and keeps high color saturation.

$ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer thin film were produced by evaporation system. ZnS were selected as a high refractive index material and $Na_3AlF_6$ were selected as low refractive index material. Optical properties including color effect were systematically studied in terms of different optical thickness by spectrophotometer. In oder to compare with experimental data, the Essential Macleod Program(EMP) was adopted that simulation program. The thin film consisting of $ZnS/Na_3AlF_6$ multi-layer show the wave length of $530{\sim}600nm$, typically color range between purple, blue, green. It was confirmed that this experimental result was well matched with simulation data.

Recently, with the development of technology, computer vision research based on the human visual system has been actively conducted. Saliency maps have been used to highlight areas that are visually interesting within the image, but they can suffer from low performance due to external factors, such as an indistinct background or light source. In this study, existing color, brightness, and contrast feature maps are subjected to multiple shape and orientation filters and then connected to a fully connected layer to determine pixel intensities within the image based on location-based weights. The proposed method demonstrates better performance in separating the background from the area of interest in terms of color and brightness in the presence of external elements and noise. Location-based weight normalization is also effective in removing pixels with high intensity that are outside of the image or in non-interest regions. Our proposed method also demonstrates that multi-filter normalization can be processed faster using parallel processing.

This study constructs various scenarios required for landscape lighting; furthermore, a large-capacity general-purpose multifunctional controller is designed and implemented to validate the operation of the various scenarios. The multi-functional controller is a large-capacity general-purpose controller composed of a drive and control unit that controls the scenarios and colors of LED modules and an LED display unit. In addition, we conduct a computer simulation by designing a control system to represent the most appropriate color according to the input values of the temperature, illuminance, and humidity, using the neuro-control system. Consequently, when examining the result and output color according to neuro-control, unlike existing crisp logic, neuro-control does not require the storage of many data inputs because of the characteristics of artificial intelligence; the desired value can be controlled by learning with learning data.
The paper presents a fuzzy based impulse noise filter for both gray scale and color images. The proposed approach is based on the technique of boundary discriminative noise detection. The algorithm is a multi-step process comprising detection, filtering and color correction stages. The detection procedure classifies the pixels as corrupted and uncorrupted by computing decision boundaries, which are fuzzified to improve the outputs obtained. In the case of color images, a correction term is added by examining the interactions between the color components for further improvement. Quantitative and qualitative analysis, performed on standard gray scale and color image, shows improved performance of the proposed technique over existing state-of-the-art algorithms in terms of Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and color difference metrics. The analysis proves the applicability of the proposed algorithm to random valued impulse noise.

Nature utilizes various of the colorization process. Some species of birds can express their mood of tempers by changing their collagen structures on skin. For example, turkey can change their skin color by expansion of the collagen structures, which are associated with the distinct color changes. Here, we developed bioinspired virus-based colorimetric sensors which can be genetically tuned for target molecule. Using M 13 bacteriophage, we fabricated responsive self-assembled color matrices composed of quasi-ordered fiber bundle structures. These virus matrices can exhibit color change by stimuli through fiber bundle structure modulation. Upon exposure of volatile organic compounds, the resulting multi-colored matrices exhibited distinct color changes with different ratios that can be recognized by the naked eyes. Using the directed evolutionary approaches, we genetically engineered the virus matrix to incorporate binding motif for explosive detection (i.e., trinitrotoluene (TNT)). Through utilizing a common handheld device (i.e., iPhone), we could distinguish TNT molecules down to 20 ppb in a selective manner. Our novel biomimetic virus colorimetric sensor can overcome current limitation for low response selectivity.
In the agricultural field, a machine vision system has been widely used to automate most inspection processes especially in quality grading. Though machine vision system was very effective in quantifying geometrical quality factors, it had a deficiency in quantifying color information. This study was conducted to evaluate color of beef using machine vision system. Though measuring color of a beef using machine vision system had an advantage of covering whole lean tissue area at a time compared to a colorimeter, it revealed the problem of sensitivity depending on the system components such as types of camera, lighting conditions, and so on. The effect of color balancing control of a camera was investigated and multi-layer BP neural network based color calibration process was developed. Color calibration network model was trained using reference color patches and showed the high correlation with L*a*b* coordinates of a colorimeter. The proposed calibration process showed the successful adaptability to various measurement environments such as different types of cameras and light sources. Compared results with the proposed calibration process and MLR based calibration were also presented. Color calibration network was also successfully applied to measure the color of the beef. However, it was suggested that reflectance properties of reference materials for calibration and test materials should be considered to achieve more accurate color measurement.

Recently, in the mobile device, the increase of the need for encoding and decoding of high-resolution images requires an efficient implementation of the image codec. This paper proposes a time-optimized color conversion method for the JPEG decoder, which reduces the number of calculations in the color conversion by the rearrangement of arithmetic operations being possible due to the linearity of the IDCT and the color conversion matrices and brings down the time complexity of the color conversion itself by the integer mapping replacing floating-point operations to the optimal fixed-point shift and addition operations, eventually reducing the time complexity of the JPEG decoder. And the proposed method compensates a decline of image quality incurred by the quantification error of the operation arrangement and the integer mapping by using the multi-mode chrominance reconstruction. The performance evaluation performed on the development platform of embedded systems showed that, compared to previous color conversion methods, the proposed method greatly reduces the image decoding time, minimizing the distortion of decoded images.
