This paper suggests a new method of detecting attacks of network traffic by visualizing original traffic data and applying multi-class SVM (support vector machine). The proposed method first generates 2D images from IP and ports of transmitters and receivers, and extracts linear patterns and high intensity values from the images, representing traffic attacks. It then obtains variance of ports of transmitters and receivers and extracts the number of clusters and entropy features using ISODATA algorithm. Finally, it determines through multi-class SVM if the traffic data contain DDoS, DoS, Internet worm, or port scans. Experimental results show that the suggested multi-class SVM-based algorithm can more effectively detect network traffic attacks.
The multi-class traffic assignment problem is the most typical one of the multi-solution traffic assignment problems and, recently formulation of the models and the solution algorithm have been received a great deal of attention. The useful solution algorithm, however, has not been proposed while formulation of the multi-class traffic assignment could be performed by adopting the variational inequality problem or the fixed point problem. In this research, we developed a hybrid solution algorithm which combines GA algorithm, diagonal algorithm and clustering algorithm for the multi-class traffic assignment formulated as a variational inequality Problem. GA algorithm and clustering algorithm are introduced for the wide area and small cost. We also performed an experiment with toy network(2 link) and tested the characteristics of the suggested algorithm.

Provisioning of quality of service (QoS) is a key issue in any multi-media system. However, in wireless systems, supporting QoS requirements of different traffic types is a more challenging problem due to the need to simultaneously minimize two performance metrics - the probability of dropping a handover call and the probability of blocking a new call. Since QoS requirements are not as stringent for non-real-time traffic, as opposed to real-time traffic, more calls can be accommodated by releasing some bandwidth from the already admitted non-real-time traffic calls. If the released bandwidth that is used to handle handover calls is larger than the released bandwidth that is used for new calls, then the resulting probability of dropping a handover call is smaller than the probability of blocking a new call. In this paper, we propose an efficient call admission control algorithm that relies on adaptive multi-level bandwidth-allocation scheme for non-realtime calls. The scheme allows reduction of the call dropping probability, along with an increase in the bandwidth utilization. The numerical results show that the proposed scheme is capable of attaining negligible handover call dropping probability without sacrificing bandwidth utilization.

Strict priority scheduling scheme is a good candidate for the implementation of service differentiation in an Internet because of simplicity in implementation and the capability to guarantee the delay requirement of the highest class of traffic. However, it is also blown that strict priority starves the lower-class traffic at the cost of prioritizing the higher-class traffic. The purpose of this work is to propose an analytic method which can estimate the average delay performance of Diffserv service architecture and shows that strict priority scheme does not sacrifice the lower class traffic over a diverse condition of the load. From the numerical experiments for three-class Diffserv network we validate our argument that strict priority scheme may be applied to a service differentiation scheme for the future Internet.

OFDMA systems have been expected to be widely used to provide multimedia services over wireless channels. To evaluate performance of the OFDMA system, power should be considered as system resource as well as subcarriers. This study propose a queueing traffic model incorporating two kinds of resources (power and subcarriers), and an extended model giving a priority to handoff calls over new calls. Some extensive experiments are conducted to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed traffic model.
The study on traffic assignment is actively being performed which reflect networks status using time. Its background is increasing social needs to use traffic assignment models in not only hardware area of road network plan but also software area of traffic management or control. In addition, multi-class traffic assignment model is receiving study in order to fill a gap between theory and practice of traffic assignment model. This model is made up of two, one of which is multi-driver class and the other multi-vehicle class. The latter is the more realistic because it can be combined with dynamic model. On this background, this study is to build multidynamic model combining the above-mentioned two areas. This has been a theoretic pillar of ITS in which dynamic user equilibrium assignment model is now made an issue, therefore more realistic dynamic model is expected to be built by combining it with multi-class model. In case of multi-vehicle, FIFO would be violated which is necessary to build the dynamic assignment model. This means that it is impossible to build multi-vehicle dynamic model with the existing dynamic assignment modelling method built under the conditions of FIFO. This study builds dynamic network model which could relieve the FIFO conditions. At the same time, simulation method, one of the existing network loading method, is modified to be applied to this study. Also, as a solution(algorithm) area, time dependent shortest path algorithm which has been modified from existing shortest path algorithm and the existing MSA modified algorithm are built. The convergence of the algorithm is examined which is built by calculating dynamic user equilibrium solution adopting the model and algorithm and grid network.

In this paper, we propose active queue management mechanism (Active-WRED) to guarantee quality of the high priority service class in multi-class traffic service environment. In congestion situation, this mechanism increases drop probability of low priority traffic and reduces the drop probability of the high priority traffic, therefore it can improve the quality of the high priority service. In order to analyze the performance of our mechanism we introduce the stochastic analysis of a discrete-time queueing systems for the performance evaluation of the Active Queue Management (AQM) based congestion control mechanism called Weighted Random Early Detection (WRED) using a two-state Markov-Modulated Bernoulli arrival process (MMBP-2) as the traffic source. A two-dimensional discrete-time Harkov chain is introduced to model the Active-WRED mechanism for two traffic classes (Guaranteed Service and Best Effort Service) where each dimension corresponds to a traffic class with its own parameters.

Mobile WiMAX system provides various classes of traffic such as real-time and non-realtime services. These services have different QoS requirements and the QoS aware scheduling has been an important issue. Although many of scheduling algorithms for various services in OFDMA system have been proposed, it is needed to be modified to be applied to Mobile WiMAX system. Since Mobile WiMAX supports five kinds of service classes, it is important to take QoS characteristics of each class into consideration. In this paper, we propose an efficient packet scheduling algorithm to support QoS of each class. Proposed scheme selects a service class first considering QoS Characteristics of each class and choose an appropriate user in the selected class. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than the other algorithm.
This paper presents a delay-margin based traffic engineering (TE) approach to provide end-to-end quality of service (QoS) in multi-protocol label switching (MPLS) networks using differentiated services (DiffServ) at the link level. The TE, including delay, class, and route assignments, is formulated as a nonlinear optimization problem reflecting the inter-class and inter-link dependency introduced by DiffServ and end-to-end QoS requirements. Three algorithms are used to provide a solution to the problem: The first two, centralized offline route configuration and link-class delay assignment, operate in the convex areas of the feasible region to consecutively reduce the objective function using a per-link per-class decomposition of the objective function gradient. The third one is a heuristic that promotes/demotes connections at different links in order to deal with concave areas that may be produced by a trunk route usage of more than one class on a given link. Approximations of the three algorithms suitable for on-line distributed TE operation are also derived. Simulation is used to show that proposed approach can increase the number of users while maintaining end-to-end QoS requirements.
This paper proposes a solution algorithm for solving a multi-class analytical DTA model. In the DTA model, three traveler classes are classified according to different assumptions of traveler's route choice behavior: including fixed route, Stochastic Dynamic User Optimum(SDUO), and Dynamic User Optimum(DUO). To solve this DTA model, variables of link flow and exit flow are represented solely by inflow. The resulting Linear Program(LP) subproblem in the inner iteration is solved as a typical time-dependent shortest route problem over a physical network. Accordingly, the required time-space network expansion in solving DTA models is no longer needed.
