A Synchronized Multiplexing Scheme for Multi-view HD Video Transport System over IP Networks (실시간 다시점 고화질 비디오 전송 시스템을 위한 동기화된 다중화 기법)

  • This paper proposes a prototype realization of multi-view HD video transport system with synchronized multiplexing over IP networks. The proposed synchronized multiplexing considers the synchronization during video acquisition and the multiplexing for the interactive view-selection during transport. For the synchronized acquisition from multiple HDV camcorders through IEEE 1394 interface, we estimate the timeline differences among MPEG-2 compressed video streams by using global time of network between the cameras and a server and correct timelines of video streams by changing the time stamp of the MPEG-2 system stream. Also, we multiplex a selected number of acquired HD views at the MPEG-2 TS (transport stream) level for the interactive view-selection during transport. Thus, with the proposed synchronized multiplexing scheme, we can display synchronized HD view.

  • 객체를 기반으로 하는 소프트웨어 부품의 재사용은 개별 부품의 효율적 관리와 이 것의 적절한 조합을 통해 소프트웨어 생산성을 극대화한다. 이를 위해서는 클래스 라이브러 리 화에 의한 명확한 식별과 분류, 정제, 저장으로 사용자 요구에 맞는 부품을 쉽게 검색할 수 있으며 새로운 부품의 수정과 합성이 가능한 재사용 시스템이 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문 에서는 객체지향을 기반의 소프트웨어 개발에 있어 브라우징 기법을 적용하여 사용자 요구 에 맞도록 재사용 부품들을 분류, 저장, 검색하여 재상용 할뿐더러 검색된 클래스가 사용자 의 요구에 맞도록 수정-합성 과정을 통해 재사용 가능하게 하는 다중 뷰 재사용 통합 시스 템인 MRIS (Multi-View Reuse Integrated System)를 구현하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient coding method of digital hologram (or fringe pattern) using multi-view prediction technique based on video and image coding standard such as MPEG. The proposed algorithm illustrates that it has better properties for reconstruction and higher compression rate than the previous researches.

  • In this work, we propose a compression algorithm for depth images, which are obtained from multi-view sequences. The proposed algorithm represents a depth image using a 3-D regular triangular mesh and predictively encodes the mesh vertices using a linear prediction scheme. The prediction errors are encoded with a arithmetic coder. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm provides better performances than the JPEG2000 lossless coder.

  • Glassless 3D display requires multiple images taken from different viewpoints to show a scene. The simplest way to get multi-view image is using multiple camera that as number of views are requires. To do that, synchronize between cameras or compute and transmit lots of data comes critical problem. Thus, generating such a large number of viewpoint images effectively is emerging as a key technique in 3D video technology. Image-based view synthesis is an algorithm for generating various virtual viewpoint images using a limited number of views and depth maps. In this paper, because the virtual view image can be express as a transformed image from real view with some depth condition, we propose an algorithm to compute multi-view synthesis from two reference view images and their own depth-map by stepwise duplex forward mapping. And also, because the geometrical relationship between real view and virtual view is repetitively, we apply our algorithm into OpenGL Shading Language which is a programmable Graphic Process Unit that allow parallel processing to improve computation time. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm for fast view synthesis through a variety of experiments with real data.

  • Multi-view video coding technology demands the very high efficient coding technologies, because it has to encode a number of video sequences which are achieved from a number of video cameras. For this purpose, multi-view video coding introduces the inter-view prediction scheme between different views, but it shows a limitation of coding performance enhancement by adopting only new prediction method. Accordingly, we are going to achieve the more coding performance by enhancing dequantizer perfermance. Multi-view video coding is implemented basically based on H.264/AVC and uses the same quantization/de-quantization method as H.264/AVC does. The conventional quantizer and dequantizer is designed with the assumption that input residual signal follows the Laplacian PDF. However, it doesn't follow the fixed PDF type always. This mismatch between assumption and real data causes degradation of coding performance. To solve this problem, we propose the efficient de-quantization method based on quantized coefficients distribution at decoder without extra information. The extensive simulation results show that the proposed algorithm produces maximum $1.5\;dB{\sim}0.6\;dB$ at high bitrate compared with that of conventional method.

  • Recently, multi-view depth estimation methods using deep learning network for the 3D scene reconstruction have gained lots of attention. Multi-view video contents have various characteristics according to their camera composition, environment, and setting. It is important to understand these characteristics and apply the proper depth estimation methods for high-quality 3D reconstruction tasks. The camera setting represents the physical distance which is called baseline, between each camera viewpoint. Our proposed methods focus on deciding the appropriate depth estimation methodologies according to the characteristics of multi-view video contents. Some limitations were found from the empirical results when the existing multi-view depth estimation methods were applied to a divergent or large baseline dataset. Therefore, we verified the necessity of obtaining the proper number of source views and the application of the source view selection algorithm suitable for each dataset's capturing environment. In conclusion, when implementing a deep learning-based depth estimation network for 3D scene reconstruction, the results of this study can be used as a guideline for finding adaptive depth estimation methods.

  • Recently various prediction structures have been proposed to exploit inter-view correlation among multi-view video sequences. In this paper, we propose a QP(quantization parameter) selection method for the B frame inserted in the first frames of each GOP(group of pictures), where we change QP for the B frame adaptively to achieve uniform picture quality and overall coding gain. Each B frame is coded with reference to two frames in its adjacent views. We calculate QP for the B frame based on the correlation between the two reference frames, calculated using their rate-distortion costs. By applying the proposed method to the MVC reference prediction structure, we have improved the coding gain by 0.09$\sim$0.16 dB.

  • Recently, acgis of authentication and crcator's copyright has become a matter of great concern by the diffusion of multimedia technique and the growth of the internet and the easily duplicated property of digital data. Consequently, many active researches have been made to protect copyright and to assure integrity by inserting watermark into the digital data. In this paper, watermark is repealed through the entire image and adapted to the content of the image. Achieved by an underlying process of transforming the digital image to the frequency domain by wavelet transform, which has three (vertical, horizontal, diagonal) directions and Multi-resolution features, and then choosing frequency area inferior to the human perceptibility and significant for invisible and robust watermark. We realize wavelet based image watermarking using Machine Vision of LabVIEW.

  • Crosstalk has been regarded as one of inherent problems in a factor disturbing optimal viewing experiences. For this reason, display developers address the crosstalk issues. However, due to various display characteristics and viewing environments it is hard to estimate the crosstalk generated in real space. This paper proposes an interactive multi-view display simulator based on augmented reality for developing mobile autostereoscopic displays. This display simulator can be used for the developers to estimate the crosstalk and find optimal viewing zone intuitively. Typical parameters for mobile phone use are applied for the estimation. The proposed simulator provides visualized crosstalk in real space for them to determine better viewing zone interactively. The proposed system is expected to help establish ergonomic guidelines for mobile multi-view autostereoscopic display developers, designers, and viewers.
