무선 ATM에서의 동적 슬롯 할당 알고리즘 (Dynamic Slot Allocation Algorithm of Wireless ATM)

  • In recent years, the predominant part in telecommunications is mobile communications. The next generation network is extending today's voice-only mobile networks to multi-service networks. ATM Network is possible to carry such multi-media traffic and it will be expect to use wireless ATM for the future mobile access network. One of manly important aspects for the performance of wireless ATM is the Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol. The MAC protocol must be able to satisfyingly handle the different ATM services (CBR, VBR, ABR and UBR) with their radically different performance requirements. Additionally, the MAC protocol must be able to cope with the complex radio environment where fading, multi-path propagation interference and burst-errors further complicate the situation. In this paper, a dynamic slot allocation algorithm in wireless ATM is proposed for an efficient channel sharing/media access at the MAC layer. We use equivalent capacity in the allocation of slots for VBR traffic which is variable along the time. It is simple and effective slot allocation method for VBR service. In particular, we consider the slot allocation of a session consisted of several connections for requirement of multimedia traffic. Simulation shows that the cell loss ratio is reduced by re-allocation of extra slots in Mobile Terminal (MT).

ATM망에서의 실시간 통화유랑 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Real-time Prediction of Traffic Flow in ATM Network)

  • 본 논문은 ATM망의 통화유랑 제어중 최적한 폭주제어의 실현을 위해 필수적인 다중매체 통화유량 예측에 관한 논문으로서 ATM망에 유입 될 다중매체 통화유량의 특성이 시대의 발전에 따라 서서히 변화될 것이 예상되므로 모의실험에 사용 될 다중매체 통화유랑을 단위시간당 접속호수는 프아송분포, 각 호당 요구전송속도는 감마분포, 각 호의 유지시간은 지수분포를 기준으로 하여 각각의 분포특성을 변화시켜 통화유량 특성변화를 유도하여 발생시킨 후 이를 신경망과 실시간 처리를 위해 제안된 3중신경망 모델[3]로 추정하여 비교함으로써 제안된 모델이 ATM망의 통화유량 예측에 이용될 수 있음을 보인다.

  • 오늘날 해양자원 개발 및 연구에 대한 중요성이 크게 증대됨에 따라 수중센서네트 관련 분야에 대한 많은 연구가 진행 중에 있다. 그러나 대부분의 연구가 단일 게이트웨이(Gateway)를 갖는 토폴로지(Topology)를 고려하여 진행되고 있다. 그러나 실제 수중센서 네트워크의 모델을 살펴보면 신뢰성을 보장하기 위해 다수의 게이트웨이가 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 연구와 달리 복수의 게이트웨이를 갖는 보다 실제적인 수중센서 네트워크 환경에서 효율적인 통신을 위하여 각 노드들 간의 데이터 충돌을 최소화하고 수중센서 네트워크의 QoS(Quality of Service)를 보장할 수 있는 MAC(Media Access Control) 프로토콜을 제안한다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 프로토콜과 기존 수중센서 네트워크를 위한 MAC과의 성능을 비교하고 평가한다.

Multi-Modal Controller Usability for Smart TV Control

  • Objective: The objective of this study was to suggest a multi-modal controller type for Smart TV Control. Background: Recently, many issues regarding the Smart TV are arising due to the rising complexity of features in a Smart TV. One of the specific issues involves what type of controller must be utilized in order to perform regulated tasks. This study examines the ongoing trend of the controller. Method: The selected participants had experiences with the Smart TV and were 20 to 30 years of age. A pre-survey determined the first independent variable of five tasks(Live TV, Record, Share, Web, App Store). The second independent variable was the type of controllers(Conventional, Mouse, Voice-Based Remote Controllers). The dependent variables were preference, task completion time, and error rate. The experiment consist a series of three experiments. The first experiment utilized a uni-modal Controller for tasks; the second experiment utilized a dual-modal Controller, while the third experiment utilized a triple-modal Controller. Results: The first experiment revealed that the uni-modal Controller (Conventional, Voice Controller) showed the best results for the Live TV task. The second experiment revealed that the dual-modal Controller(Conventional-Voice, Conventional-Mouse combinations) showed the best results for the Share, Web, App Store tasks. The third experiment revealed that the triple-modal Controller among all the level had not effective compared with dual-modal Controller. Conclusion: In order to control simple tasks in a smart TV, our results showed that a uni-modal Controller was more effective than a dual-modal controller. However, the control of complex tasks was better suited to the dual-modal Controller. User preference for a controller differs according the Smart TV functions. For instance, there was a high user preference for the uni-Controller for simple functions while high user preference appeared for Dual-Controllers when the task was complex. Additionally, in accordance with task characteristics, there was a high user preference for the Voice Controller for channel and volume adjustment. Furthermore, there was a high user preference for the Conventional Controller for menu selection. In situations where the user had to input text, the Voice Controller had the highest preference among users while the Mouse Type, Voice Controller had the highest user preference for performing a search or selecting items on the menu. Application: The results of this study may be utilized in the design of a controller which can effectively carry out the various tasks of the Smart TV.

  • 헬릭스 안테나는 관제, 관측, 탐사, 통신 위성 등에서 관제(TT&C), 데이터 통신, GPS 수신 시스템, 전술 시스템으로 활용되고 있다 위성의 Z축에서 최대 지향성과 방사 특성을 갖는 헬릭스는 광대역의 임피던스와 통신 커버리지 대역을 제공할 수 있다. 도파관 혼 구조는 흔히 레이다 분야에 이용되는데, 지반 탐사 레이다 및 전자파 장애 측정 등 초 광대역 펄스를 필요로 하는 곳에 사용된다. 또한 크기가 비교적 작고, 적은 방사 왜곡으로 인한 고효율과 낮은 반사 특성을 갖는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 고용량의 데이터를 전송하여 넓은 주파수 대역폭을 사용하는 통신 및 원격 탐사 위성에 적합한 도파관 혼-헬릭스 결합 안테나를 설계한다. 설계된 변형 구조 안테나는 S 밴드에서 가변 빔 스캐닝 모드를 갖는 혼-헬릭스 결합 헬리콘 구조로 관제, 탐사, 고속 데이터 통신용 등의 다기능 안테나로 동작한다. 도파관 혼은 테이퍼된 헬릭스를 감싸는 접이식 반사체로 설계하여 구조물의 소형화를 유도한다. 현재 개발 중인 차세대 다목적 실용위성에서는 고성능의 탑재체를 활용하기 때문에 정밀하고 안정된 위성 자세 제어 능력을 요구하고, 위성 안테나의 지향성 요구 조건이 강화된다. 이를 위해 설계된 안테나의 위성 초기 배치에 따른 링크 분석을 통해 위성체의 자세 및 운용 모드에 따라 다른 결과를 갖는 빔 스캐닝을 산출하고 각 모드에서의 자료 전송률에 대해 연구한다.

전자제품생산의 조정고정을 위한 지능형 제어알고리즘 (Intelligent Control Algorithm for the Adjustment Process During Electronics Production)

  • A neural network based control algorithm with fuzzy compensation is proposed for the automated adjustment in the production of electronic end-products. The process of adjustment is to tune the variable devices in order to examine the specified performances of the products ready prior to packing. Camcorder is considered as a target product. The required test and adjustment system is developed. The adjustment system consists of a NNC(neural network controller), a sub-NNC, and an auxiliary algorithm utilizing the fuzzy logic. The neural network is trained by means of errors between the outputs of the real system and the network, as well as on the errors between the changing rate of the outputs. Control algorithm is derived to speed up the learning dynamics and to avoid the local minima at higher energy level, and is able to converge to the global minimum at lower energy level. Many unexpected problems in the application of the real system are resolved by the auxiliary algorithms. As the adjustments of multiple items are related to each other, but the significant effect of performance by any specific item is not observed. The experimental result shows that the proposed method performs very effectively and are advantageous in simple architecture, extracting easily the training data without expertise, adapting to the unstable system that the input-output properties of each products are slightly different, with a wide application to other similar adjustment processes.

  • In this paper, the authors explore the modeling and control of a point absorber wave energy converter, which is connected to the electric grid via a power converter that is based on a linear permanent magnet synchronous generator (LPMSG). The device utilizes a buoyant mechanism to convert the energy of ocean waves into electrical power, and the LPMSG-based power converter is utilized to change the variable frequency and voltage output from the wave energy converter to a fixed frequency and voltage suitable for the electric grid. The article concentrates on the creation of a predictive control system that regulates the speed, voltage, and current of the LPMSG, and the modeling of the system to simulate its behavior and optimize its design. The predictive model control is created to guarantee maximum energy output and stable grid connection, using Matlab Simulink to validate the proposed strategy, including control side generator and predictive current grid-side converter loops.

Wind Energy Interface to Grid with Load Compensation by Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverters

  • Fluctuating wind conditions necessitate the use of a variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) with a AC/DC/AC converter scheme in order to harvest the maximum power from the wind and to decouple the synchronous generator voltage and frequency from the grid voltage and frequency. In this paper, a combination of a three phase diode bridge rectifier (DBR) and a modified topology of the diode clamped multilevel inverter (DCMLI) has been considered as an AC/DC/AC converter. A control strategy has been proposed for the DCMLI to achieve the objective of grid interface of a wind power system together with local load compensation. A novel fixed frequency current control method is proposed for the DCMLI based on the level shifted multi carrier PWM for achieving the required control objectives with equal and uniform switching frequency operation for better control and thermal management with the modified DCMLI. The condition of the controller gain is derived to ensure the operation of the DCMLI at the fixed frequency of the carrier. The converter current injected into the distribution grid is controlled in accordance with the wind power availability. In addition, load compensation is performed as an added facility in order to free the source currents being fed from the grid of harmonic distortion, unbalance and a low power factor even though the load may be unbalanced, non-linear and of a poor power factor. The results are validated using PSCAD/EMTDC simulation studies.

  • Traditional bound abrasive grinding leaves the machine marks and subsurface damages ranging from 1 to few tens microns ms in height. These are removed typically by subsequent craftmen-based loose abrasive lapping, polishing and figuring. Using the multi-variable regression technique, we established a new automated grinding process control method for the removal of loose abrasive lapping from the traditional fabrication process.   • In this paper, we propose a self-tuning PID controller for unknown systems with time-varying delay. Using pole placement equations, we derive the controller that can be extended to the multi-step time delay case. The time-varying delays are estimated by a prediction error delay method using multiple predictors. Since the order of the estimation vector is not increased, the persistant exciting condition of control input is alleviated. Since the least square method gives biased parameter estimates for colored noise cases, the recursive instrumental variable method is used to estimate system parameters. The computational burden of the proposed method is less than the conventional adaptive methods. Computer simulations are performed to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
