  • For the adaption of roll-to-roll printing method to the printed electronics, it is mandatory to increase the resolution of register errors. Therefore it is desired to derive the mathematical modeling of register error or to develop controller design. The cross direction register error was derived considering both lateral motion of moving web and transverse position of printing roll. The mathematical modeling was validated and the relationship between the lateral motion and register error was analyzed by numerical simulations in various operating conditions using multi-layer direct gravure printing machine. The results could be used for a design of the CD register in the multi-layer printing and the lateral motion caused by translation.

  • Several commercial companies that plan to provide improved panchromatic and/or multi-spectral remote sensor data in the near future are suggesting that merge datasets will be of significant value. This study evaluated the utility of one major merging process-process components analysis and its inverse. The 6 bands of 30$\times$30m Landsat TM data and the 10$\times$l0m SPOT panchromatic data were used to create a new 10$\times$10m merged data file. For the image classification, 6 bands that is 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th band may be used in conjunction with supervised classification algorithms except band 6. One of the 7 bands is Band 6 that records thermal IR energy and is rarely used because of its coarse spatial resolution (120m) except being employed in thermal mapping. Because SPOT panchromatic has high resolution it makes 10$\times$10m SPOT panchromatic data be used to classify for the detailed classification. SPOT as the Landsat has acquired hundreds of thousands of images in digital format that are commercially available and are used by scientists in different fields. After the merged, the classifications used supervised classification and neural network. The method of the supervised classification is what used parallelepiped and/or minimum distance and MLC(Maximum Likelihood Classification) The back-propagation in the multi-layer perception is one of the neural network. The used method in this paper is MLC(Maximum Likelihood Classification) of the supervised classification and the back-propagation of the neural network. Later in this research SPOT systems and images are compared with these classification. A comparative analysis of the classifications from the TM and merged SPOT/TM datasets will be resulted in some conclusions.

  • We explore the linkage between the long term variability of the Sun and earth's climate change by analysing periodicities of time series of solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We apply the power spectral estimation method named as the periodgram to solar proxies and global temperature anomalies. We also decompose global temperature anomalies and reconstructed total solar irradiance into each local variability components by applying the EMD (Empirical Mode Decomposition) and MODWT MRA (Maximal Overlap Discrete Wavelet Multi Resolution Analysis). Powers for solar proxies at low frequencies are lower than those of high frequencies. On the other hand, powers for temperature anomalies show the other way. We fail to decompose components which having lager than 40 year variabilities from EMD, but both residuals are well decomposed respectively. We determine solar induced components from the time series of temperature anomalies and obtain 39% solar contribution on the recent global warming. We discuss the climate system can be approximated with the second order differential equation since the climate sensitivity can only determine the output amplitude of the signal.

  • A valid speech-sound block can be classified to provide important information for speech recognition. The classification of the speech-sound block comes from the MRA(multi-resolution analysis) property of the DWT(discrete wavelet transform), which is used to reduce the computational time for the pre-processing of speech recognition. The merging algorithm is proposed to extract valid speech-sounds in terms of position and frequency range. It needs some numerical methods for an adaptive DWT implementation and performs unvoiced/voiced classification and denoising. Since the merging algorithm can decide the processing parameters relating to voices only and is independent of system noises, it is useful for extracting valid speech-sounds. The merging algorithm has an adaptive feature for arbitrary system noises and an excellent denoising SNR(signal-to-nolle ratio).

  • Colletotrichum gloeosporioides is an economically important fungal pathogen causing substantial yield losses indifferent host plants. To understand the genetic diversity and molecular epidemiology of this fungus, we have developed a novel, high-resolution multi-locus microsatellite typing (MLMT) method. Bioinformatic analysis of C. gloeosporioides unannotated genome sequence yielded eight potential microsatellite loci, of which five, CG1 $(GT)_n$, CG2 $(GT1)_n$, CG3 $(TC)_n$, CG4 $(CT)_n$, and CG5 $(CT1)_n$ were selected for further study based on their universal amplification potential, reproducibility, and repeat number polymorphism. The selected microsatellites were used to analyze 31 strains of C. gloeosporioides isolated from 20 different host plants from India. All microsatellite loci were found to be polymorphic, and the approximate fragment sizes of microsatellite loci CG1, CG2, CG3, CG4, and CG5 were in ranges of 213-241, 197-227, 231-265, 209-275, and 132-188, respectively. Among the 31 isolates, 55 different genotypes were identified. The Simpson's index of diversity (D) values for the individual locus ranged from 0.79 to 0.92, with the D value of all combined five microsatellite loci being 0.99. Microsatellite data analysis revealed that isolates from Ocimum sanctum, Capsicum annuum (chili pepper), and Mangifera indica (mango) formed distinct clusters, therefore exhibited some level of correlation between certain genotypes and host. The developed MLMT method would be a powerful tool for studying the genetic diversity and any possible genotype-host correlation in C. gloeosporioides.

  • The massive green tide occurred every summer in the Yellow Sea since 2008, and many studies are being actively conducted to estimate the coverage of green tide through analysis of satellite imagery. However, there is no satellite images selection criterion for accurate coverage calculation of green tide. Therefore, this study aimed to find a suitable satellite image from for the comparison of the green tide coverage according to the spatial resolution of satellite image. In this study, Landsat ETM+, MODIS and GOCI images were used to coverage estimation and its spatial resolution is 30, 250 and 500 m, respectively. Green tide pixels were classified based on the NDVI algorithm, the difference of the green tide coverage was compared with threshold value. In addition, we estimate the proportion of the green tide in one pixel through the Linear Spectral Unmixing (LSU) method, and the effect of the difference of green tide ratio on the coverage calculation were evaluated. The result of green tide coverage from the calculation of the NDVI value, coverage of green tide usually overestimate with decreasing spatial resolution, maximum difference shows 1.5 times. In addition, most of the pixels were included in the group with less than 0.1 (10%) LSU value, and above 0.5 (50%) LSU value accounted for about 2% in all of three images. Even though classified as green tide from the NDVI result, it is considered to be overestimated because it is regarded as the same coverage even if green tide is not 100% filled in one pixel. Mixed-pixel problem seems to be more severe with spatial resolution decreases.

  • There are increasing demands to provide early warning against intruding drones and cope with potential threats. Commercial anti-drone systems are mostly based on simple target detection by radar reflections. In real scenario, however, it becomes essential to obtain drone radar signatures so that hostile targets are recognized in advance. We present experimental test results that micro-Doppler radar signature delivers partial information on multi-rotor platforms and exhibits limited performance in drone recognition and classification. Afterward, we attempt to generate high resolution profile of flying drone targets. To this purpose, wide bands radar signals are employed to carry out inverse synthetic aperture radar(ISAR) imaging against moving drones. Following theoretical analysis, experimental field tests are carried out to acquire real target signals. Our preliminary tests demonstrate that high resolution ISAR imaging provides effective measures to detect and classify multiple drone targets in air.
