공기호흡과 관련된 왕종개(미꾸리과어류)의 호흡기관에 관한 연구 (Study on the Respiratory Organ of Spined Loach, Iksookimia longicorpa (Pisces, Cobitidae), in Relation to the Air-breathing System)

  • 왕종개 Iksookimia longicorpa의 공기호흡에 관한 호흡체계를 조사하기 위해 표피 (epidermis)와 소화관 (intestinal tract)를 관찰하였다. 표피는 작은 점액세포 (mucous cell)와 곤봉세포 (club cell)로 이루어진 두 종류의 선세포 (gland cell)을 가진다. 점액세포는 대부분 acid sulfomucin으로 구성되었으나 곤봉상세포는 점액물질에 대한 어떠한 반응도 보이지 않았다. 기저층에는 작은 림파구를 포함하는 lymphocytes가 존재하며, 다량의 모세혈관이 기저층 바로 아래부분에 존해하고 있다. 장( intestinal tract)은 거의 일직선형태이며, 크게 장(intestine)과 직장(rectum)으로 구성된다. 이러한 장은 점액층 (mucosa), 점막하층 (laminal propria-submucosa), 근육층 (musculary), 장막 (serosa) 층으로 구성되었다. 이러한 장은 짧은 fold와 얇은 벽으로 구성되었으며, 점막층은 acid sulfomucin의 점액을 가지고 있다. 공기호흡하는 어류들의 변형된 공기호흡 기관의 특징들과 비교해 볼 때 왕종개는 하천의 가뭄으로 인해 용존산소가 부족할 경우 장에서는 이루어지지않고 표피에서만 공기를 흡입하는 것으로 생각된다.

정천화담강기탕(定喘化痰降氣湯)이 ovalbumin으로 유발(誘發)된 천식(喘息)의 조직학적(組織學的) 변화(變化)에 미치는 영향(影響) (The Histologic Effects of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang Extract on the Experimental Asthma induced by ovalbumin)

  • Objectives : In order to study the effect of oral administration of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang against the asthma. Method : Asthma was induced to Balb/c mouse with ovalbumin by using method of Hatfield et al. It was observed the changes numbers and morphology of the mast cells in the trachea, numbers of mucous secretory cell in the bronchus, morphology of the bronchus, ultramicroscopical appearance of surface of trachea and number of cilia and mucous secretory cells by scanning electron microscope. Result : 1. Degranulation and decreasing of the numbers of mast cells were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. 2. Hypertrophy of mucous membrane of bronchus In the lung, infiltration of inflammatory cells, increasing of mucous secretory cells in the bronchus were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. 3. Shedding, decreasing of cilia cells and increasing of mucous secretory cells in the surface of the trachea were significantly decreased in the Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang extract group as compared with control group. Conclusion : It is considered that Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang has somewhat favorable effects on the asthma because the asthma specific series of abnormalities in respiratory system were decreased after oral administration of Jungcheonhwadamgangki-tang in this study. In future, it is needed that the toxicological and dosage specific study of Jungcheonwhadamgangki-tang to use against bronchial asthma with safe.

고지방식이로 비만을 유발한 마우스의 알레르기 비염에 대한 방풍통성산(防風通聖散)의 효과 (The Effect of Bangpungtongsungsan on Allergic Rhinitis Of Obese Mouse Fed High Fat Diet.)

  • Objective : For various reasons, Obesity & Rhinitis are constantly rising. So Interest of treatment has been expanding. We want to verify The Chungyeol (fire extinguishing) Lisup (Draining) effect of Bangpungtongsungsan on obese model of allergy rhinitis.Material and Methods : BALB/c mouse were divided four groups: control(CON), allergic induction(ARE), Bangpungtongsungsan extract administration(BTT), Bangpungtongsungsan double concentration extract administration (BT2T). Every group except control group were caused allergic rhinitis by Ovalbumin. BTT & BT2T were orally administered the Bangpungtongsungsan for 21days. Since then we observed the liver tissue cell and the nasal mucous membrane.Results : In comparison with ARE, experimental groups show relief of the nasal mucous membrane damage(secretion of mucus decrease, Itching decrease), Th2 eruption control(IL-4 decline), effect of anti-inflamatory(reducing TNF-α creation, decreasing of iNOS through NF-κB activation-inhibition). In addition, experimental groups show a loss in weight, diminished accumulation of fat. (decreasing within liver tissue, reducing TNF-α creation) BT2T is more effective to BTT.Conclusion : Bangpungtongsungsan treat obese model on allergy rhinitis thereby control fat augmentation, relieving inflammation.

오메프라졸 구강점막 부착정제에 관한 연구 (Oral Mucosal Adhesive Tablets of Omeprazole)

  • Buccal absorption test of omeprazole in human was performed to determine the permeability of the drug molecule through oral mucous membrane. Oral mucosal adhesive tablets of omeprazole were prepared by compressing the omeprazole with a mixture of sodium alginate and hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC) as bioadhesive polymers, magnesium oxide (MgO) as a stabilizer and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na CMC) or cros-carmellose sodium (Ac-Di-Sol) as disintegrants. The bioadhesive force, stability in saliva and release characteristics of the tablets were evaluated. Omeprazole was absorbed about 23% in 15 min through human buccal mucous membrane. Furthermore, omeprazole was stable in saliva for more than 8 hrs when MgO was added to the tablet as the amount of 2.5 fold of omeprazole. The release rate of omeprazole was increased with increasing the amount of sodium alginate in the tablet. From these results, it is suggested that tablets composed of [omeprazole/HPMC/sodium alginate/MgO/Ac-Di-Sol and/or Na CMC (20/6/24/50/10) (mg/tablet)] are potential candidate for buccal drug delivery system.

  • The skin of the eel goby, Odontamblyopus lacepedii, consists of epidermis, dermis and subcutis. The epidermis has three layers: the outermost layer, middle layer and stratum germinativum. The outermost layer is composed of polygonal cells or rather flattened cells, and mucous gland cells of acid mucopolysaccharides. The middle layer consists mainly of swollen small or voluminous epidermal cells and shows a web-shaped structure. The thickness of the epidermis depends on the various sizes and the number of layers of the swollen cells. Well-developed lymphatic spaces containing lymphocytes exist in the stratum germinativum and small scales are embedded in the dermis. A large number of blood capillaries are present just below the basement membrane, and a definite area giving AB and PAS positive was present between the basement membrane and scales, Taste buds ave distributed on surface of the epidermis at intervals. Considering the structural features of the skin, it may be considered that O. lacepedii is more likely to be related to cutaneous respiration as a dual respiratory system.

한국산 산민달팽이 (Incilaria fruhstorferi)의 타액선의 형태 및 조직화학적인 연구 (Morphological and Histochemical Study on the Salivary Gland of Korean Slug(Incilaria fruhstorferi))

  • The results of observation on the salivary gland and salivary secretory duct of Korean slug, Incilaria fruhstorferi, in histochemical method are as follows. It is observed that there are six kinds of gland cells(Type-A, B, C, E and F) making up the salivary gland of Korean slug. Of those, type-A gland cell is observed as an acid mucous cell, and type-B, C, D, F gland cells as neutral mucous cells. But in type-E gland cell, while the membrane surrounding granules exhibit alcianophilia, granules show no reaction. The salivary secretory duct composing the salivary gland of Korean slug is composed of supporting epithelial cell and four kinds of gland cells(type-A, E, F and G), of which type-A, E, F gland cells compose both the acinus of salivary gland and endothelial tissue of salivary secretory duct, and are secreted into lumen through salivary secretory duct. But, type-G gland cell is observed only in the endothelium of salivary secretory duct and mucous granules are observed as neutral mucopolysaccharide.

Sinus lifts in the presence of pseudoantral and mucous retention cysts

  • Objectives: Mucous retention cysts and pseudoantral cysts are mainly located within the floor of the maxillary sinus. Most of these maxillary cysts are asymptomatic and often only require observation. However, the presence of these benign maxillary cysts may create problems when maxillary sinus all types of implants are needed. Various treatment methods have been introduced. The selected treatment option depends on the type, size, and location of the cyst and its symptoms. Patients and Methods: The case reports of four patients with maxillary cysts were reviewed retrospectively. These patients received a sinus lift between January 2016 and October 2021 at the Wonkwang University Dental Hospital. Results: To reduce unnecessary operations and the duration of treatment, a conservative treatment method is required. A sinus lift in the presence of maxillary cyst will not typically cause sinus problems if the lifted sinus membrane does not interfere with ventilation of the maxillary sinus. Conclusion: When proper treatment is provided, sinus perforation during a sinus lift performed in the presence of maxillary cyst and contamination of bone graft materials by cystic fluid does not necessarily result in adverse outcomes.

산약의 조추출 mucin과 saponin이 급성 위궤양이 유도된 흰쥐에 미치는 보호 효과 (Protective Effects of Crude Mucin and Saponin from Dioscorea Rhizoma on Gastric Ulcer Induced by Alcohol in Rats)

  • 본 연구는 산약(Dioscorea Rhizoma)으로 부터 조추출된 mucin과 saponin이 위궤양이 유도된 흰쥐의 위조직 손상과 혈액 성분 및 항산화효소 활성에 미치는 효과를 조사하였다. 위궤양을 유발시킨 후 산약에서 추출한 1%의 mucin을 경구투여한 실험군(DR-M 실험군)의 위점막은 위궤양 유발군(GU 실험군)에 비하여 다소 미미하지만 궤양성 출혈과 울혈이 지속되었으나, 1%의 saponin을 경구투여한 실험군(DR-S 실험군)은 궤양성 출혈이 1일 이상 진행되었으나 3일차에 급격히 호전되어 대조군과 유사한 상태로 회복되었다. 또한 mucin을 경구투여한 실험군은 급성 위궤양으로 인한 위와 장 및 간 조직에서의 부종, 국소성 괴사, 출혈이 지속적으로 출현하였으나, saponin을 경구투여한 실험군은 조직의 출혈과 국소적 괴사가 현저히 감소되어 3일 경과 후에는 위점막하층과 장의 미세융모가 매우 깨끗한 매끄러운 상태로 회복되었다. 혈장 내 AST와 ALT의 수준은 mucin 실험군의 경우 위궤양 유발 직후 위궤양 유발군보다 높은 수치를 보였으나 점차 감소되었으며, saponin 실험군은 위궤양 유발 1일 경과 시 급격히 증가한 후 대조군과 유사한 수치로 회복되었다. 또한 SOD와 CAT의 활성은 mucin 실험군과 saponin 실험군 모두에서 위궤양 유발 후 점차 증가하였다. 따라서 산약에 포함되어 있는 saponin은 mucin에 비해서 급성 위궤양에 의한 위조직의 손상을 감소시키고 혈액 성분을 정상화시키며 항산화효소의 활성에 영향을 미쳐 위궤양으로부터 흰쥐의 위장기능을 개선하는데 효과가 높은 것으로 조사되었다.

  • Paranasal sinusitis is a common disease in the otorhinolaryngology area. It is the change of inflammation at the mucous membrane which surrounds paranasal sinus. Chronic paranasal sinusitis is a chronic inflammation disease with purulent, mucous rhinorrhea, postnasal drip and cough. The attacked period continues above three months and it repeats exacerbation and remission. We diagnosed and treated an outpatient who complains postnasal drip of chronic paranasal drip of chronic paranasal sinusitis based on the Oriental medical theories and had good result.

마황윤폐탕이 ovalbumin으로 유발된 mouse의 천식에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Mahwangyoonpye-tang on Asthma Induced by Ovalbumin in Mouse)

  • In order to study the effect of oral administration of Mawhangyounpye-tang against to asthma, astham was induced to allergy-sensitive Balb/c mouse with ovalbumin using method of Hatfield et al (1997). The changes of diameter lumen of upper portion of the trachea, lung weight, gross appearance of lung, histological profiles of lung and trachea, numbers of cellular compartments in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF), numbers and morphology of the mast cells in the trachea, numbers of mucus-secretory cell in the broncus, morphology of the bronchus, ultramicroscopical appearance of surface of trachea and number of cilia and mucous-secretory cells by scanning electron microscope. Obtained results were as follows. 1. The diameters of trachea lumen were significantly decreased in asthma induced control groups and these decreasing were result from hypertrophy of mucous membrane. However, these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. 2. Lung weights and black spots, which were result from infiltration of inflammatory cells, were significantly increased in asthma induced control groups but these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. 3. Hypertrophy of mucous membrane of trachea and bronchus and !bronchioles in the lung, peritracheal, peribronchus and peribronchiolar inflammatory cell infiltration, and mucoid exudate deposit in the lumen were observed in asthma induced control groups but these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. 4. Cellular compartments including neutrophil and eosinophil were dramatically increased in the BALF of asthma induced control groups but these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. 5. Mast cell degranulation and decreasing of the numbers of mast cells were detected in the trachea of asthma induced control groups. However, these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. 6. Shed, decreasing of cilia cell and increasing of mucous-secretory cells in the surface of the trachea of asthma induced control groups but these phenomena were dramatically recovered in the Mawhangyounpye-tang dosing groups. In conclusion, it Is considered that Mawhangyounpye-tang has somewhat favorable effect on the asthma because the asthma specific series of abnormalities in respiratory system were decreased after oral administratin of Mawhangyounpye-tang in this study. In future, it is needed that the toxicological and dosagespecific study of Mawhangyounpye-tang to use against asthma with safe.
