The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation and characteristics between electromyographic (EMG) activities of lower leg muscles and the posturographic assessment of static balance control in normal adults. Twenty-four young, healthy adults(12 males, 12 females) participated in the study. Center of pressure (COP) parameters were obtained using force platform as total path distance, total sway area, X mean frequency and Y mean frequency for 20 seconds in the following conditions: (1) comfortable standing with eyes opened or closed, (2) uncomfortable standing (feet together) with eyes opened or closed, (3) virtual moving surround delivered using Head mount display (HMD) with four different moving patterns. The virtual moving patterns consisted of close-far, superior-inferior tilting (pitch), right-left tilting (roll), and horizontal rotation (yaw) movements. Surface electromyographic activites were recorded on the tibialis anterior, peroneus longus, medial and lateral heads of gastrocnemius muscles under each condition. Correlation between the posturographic measures and EMG activities were evaluated. Total path distance and total sway area of COP were significantly increased during uncomfortable standing. EMG activity of tibialis anterior was significantly more during uncomfortable standing and virtual moving surround stimulation than during comfortable standing. Total path distance and sway area of COP during comfortable standing with closed eyes showed significant positive correlation with the EMG activities of the lateral head of gastrocnemius muscle. Total path distances and total sway area of COP during muscle. Total path distances and total sway area of COP during presentation of virtual moving surround also had significant positive correlations with EMG activities of the lateral head of gastrocnemius muscle under close-far movement.
Now, for the continuous location detection of train, the method that the moving distance of a vehicle is detected using an wheel sensor(odometer) mounted within a train, is generally used. It has a problem that the positioning errors of a train can be accumulated as the moving distance increases. To solve this problem, it is required to apply a variety of positioning sensors and to integrate with sensor data. In this paper, we develop the train-borne positioning system applicable to the conventional railway and high-speed railway, and verify the performance of the train-borne positioning system through a vehicle test.

In moving object tracking based on the visual sensory feedback, a prerequisite is to determine which feature or which object is to be tracked and then the feature or the object identification precedes the tracking. In this paper, we focus on the object identification not image feature identification. The target identification is realized by finding out corresponding line segments to the hypothesized model segments of the target. The key idea is the combination of the Mahalanobis distance with the geometrica relationship between model segments and extracted line segments. We demonstrate the robustness and feasibility of the proposed target identification algorithm by a moving vehicle identification and tracking in the video traffic surveillance system over images of a road scene.
In general, precise linear actuators using piezoelectric element are driven by friction force. Exact understanding of friction plays an important role in analysis and control of a motor. In this research, we designed a precise linear actuator using piezoelectric elements and observed its dynamic characteristics. By varying phase angle difference and amplitudes of the sinusoidal waves that are driving inputs, we can know that it is possible to control moving direction and distance of the slider. As preload is increased, its moving distance is decreased. And also, we have modeled a precise linear actuator using stick slip friction models such as classical, Karnopp. and reset integrator. Finally, by comparing the results of simulation and experiment, it was verified that the model is well designed.
This study proposes the method to make a map of moving environment area and passed area by sensor using for recognizing environment or avoiding obstacle. We win develop an efficient algorithm to use sensors and get the data by the user friendly system. Through this system, we win study the way to know of the driving environment of moving robot on the long distance point. To this, we use only one ultra-sonic sensor with a servo motor which rotates 180 degree and loads an ultra-sonic sensor. A sensor can measure 1m${\sim}$8m range and a servo motor can distinguish 15 degree by 12 divide of 180 degree. By this feature of operating system, the robot which has these sensor module detects around of area and moves another point. In this way, users gather the data of detecting distance and change the data to X-Y coordinates. And users derive a map from these accumulate data.
In this paper, we implemented the electornic moving aid system for safe walking of the blind. An obstacle detecting of each sector used ultrasound and a distance measurement used time of flight. The alarm is designed to have a sound and a tactile function that can be selected on an user's convenience. This system can detect and obstacle of upward, forward, downward and optimally warn to the blind with vibration, beep sound by appling warning algorithm on object detection. Experimental testing and performance evaluation have been successfully carried out with a prototype cane, and the experiment shows the capability of the function to detect unknown objects within an assigned distance, under knees, over head height, and crushed puddles.
From the ancient times, there are waves in the ocean. And all the moving body have energy. We have a kind of hope to convert the wave energy into electric one. Finally we can find out a power generator mechanism that mainly use the principle of pulleys. We have made drawings for this and completed the wave energy converter. This wave energy converter consists of several pulleys, rope, generator, buoys and anchors. The distance between an anchor and buoy is changed according to the hight of waves. Several sets of anchors, pulleys and buoys can make the movement of rope, and the ropes wind up a converter axis. In case of 1 meter movement of the buoy, the winding distance will be amplified 2 or 3 times if we use several moving and fixed pulleys. Based on this concept, we developed 2 kind of prototypes. One is for the test in the laboratory and the other is for the field test. Through the two test, we could confirm the usability of this mechanism.
The computer pattern sewing machine is an automatic sewing machine that is controlled by an input pattern. Even a novice can run this machine for various tasks fast and reliably such as sewing a button, a belt ring and an airbag, etc. The pattern processing software, which is the main software of this machine, is for editing and modifying pattern data by online teaching or off-line editing, setting up parameters, and calculate a moving distance of working area on the x-y axes. In this paper we propose an algorithm to generate pattern data for sewing by simplifying image data. The pattern data are composed of outline data like dot, line, circle, arc, curve, etc. We need converting this data into sewing data which involve sewing parameter, moving distance of working are an the x-y axes, thread, spindle speed.
The diagnostic value of a intra oral film is related to projecting technic and interpretation. The intra-oral film is a single plane representation of a three dimensional object, therefore superimposition is inevitablly present. The purpose of this article is to show how foreign objects in the jaw may be localized. The author used double exposure technics, that are changed angulation of vertical or horizontal to one film. The obtained results are as fallow: 1. In the upper anterior region, the moving distance of the labially impacted reference object was greater than that of the palatally impacted one. 2. In the upper molar region, the moving distance of the mesiobuccal root apex was the greatest and that of palatal root apex was the shortest. 3. In the lower molar region, the change of the alveolar bone level in the buccal side was greater than that of lingual side.
