Field Mapping based on Virtual Office for Real time GIS in Field Survey for Natural Environment (자연환경조사에서 실시간 GIS구현을 위한 가상사무실 기반의 필드멥핑)

  • It is frequently pointed out that the conventional field survey for natural environment has may limitations in terms of positional accuracy, real-time GIS data acquisition, and economic efficiency. The aim of this research was to develop an on site real-time mapping technique that enables the surveyor to input data in the field. The idea is based upon the recent trends in the field of Telecommunication and Information Technology that uses a GPS, wireless network computing, moving computing, etc. A virtual office approach has been adopted, in which a portable computer is linked to a GPS and field workers record data on the computer at the site and analyse data on site. This field mapping system has shown to be much less susceptible to the positional accuracy than that of th conventional approach. The Graphic User Interface, in particular, were ideally suited to combining positional information with attribute data which changes with every survey points. This interface allows users to interactively display and query GIS layers reproduced from the past survey results. The GIS database stored in the virtual office will serve to carry out a highly reliable survey since it could play a crucial role in identifying temporal and spatial changes occurred in the site. It is expected that integrated utilization of field data among the related agencies would be increased much more than before since the virtual office survey would be a powerful tool to ensure geometric fidelity in GIS database creation process. This paper also discusses the limitations and future direction of the present prototype research.

  • Up to the present, many GIS logical data models have been proposed to incorporate time dimension into traditional 2-dimensional (2D space) GIS databases. However, these models are difficult to implementation of multi-dimensional GIS and have problems of significant data redundancy and search performance. This paper proposes a new storage strategy and a separate storage structure, that is composed of current database and past database, in order to reduce data redundancy and improve search performance of temporal query. Also we design moving algorithm for migration from current database to past database, and design efficient search algorithm for temporal query.

  • Accessibility is a field of study that has primarily been applied to urban or transportation problems two dimensionally. However, in large complex buildings as shopping centers or hospitals, inter-spatial accessibility among compartments has to be taken into account such as in building layouts or evacuation planning. This study expands space syntax theory, one of accessibility-related methodologies used for computing connectivity in urban or architectural spaces, into 3D indoor spaces. Although space syntax is basically a topology-based theory that does not consider general costs such as distance or time, this study suggests modification that incorporates different types of impedances in moving between places including distances, turns and transfers between floors. The proposed method is applied to a 3D campus building model in computing and displaying the accessibility to exit doors or cohesive accessibility among similar functions.

  • 최근에 이동객체의 위치정보를 활용한 위치기반서비스(LBS, Location Bases Services)에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 이동객체는 시간에 따라 위치 정보가 계속 변경되는 공간 객체를 의미한다. 전통적으로 고정된 위치정보를 갖는 공간 객체는 GIS 서버에서 저장, 관리되었다. 그러나, 이동객체의 경우, 위치의 변화가 매우 빈번하며, 과거의 위치정보도 관리해야 하므로, 전통적인 GIS 서버로는 관리가 어렵다. 이 논문에서는 위치기반서비스를 위해 위치정보를 저장, 관리하기 위한 위치정보 관리 시스템을 설계한다. 위치정보 관리 시스템는 위치획득 서브시스템, 위치저장 서브시스템, 그리고, 위치질의 서브시스템으로 구성된다. 이 논문의 기여는 이동객체에 대한 위치획득, 저장, 질의 등 각각의 연구 결과를 통합함으로써, 실제 응용에 적용할 수 있는 시스템을 개발하는데 있다.

  • 부산국제영화제가 해를 거듭하며 아시아의 대표적인 영화제로 자리매김해 가고 있지만 향후 개선해야 할 부분들이 남아 있으며, 행사 장소에 대한 문제점도 그 중 하나다. 부산국제영화제는 남포동과 해운대로 이원화하여 진행하였으며, 이원화의 운영은 점차 해운대 중심의 영화제로 바뀌고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 부산국제영화제 중심지 이동의 타당성 분석을 위하여 계층분석적의사결정과정(AHP)를 통하여, 타당성 분석을 위한 평가기준과 각각의 가중치를 산출하고, GIS분석을 통해 남포동과 해운대 일대를 정량적인 수치로 평가하여 타당성 분석을 실시하였다.

  • This paper proposes an e-logistics system supporting efficient vehicle moving trajectory management. Recent advances in wireless communications have given rise to a number of location-based services including logistics vehicle tracking, cellular phone user's location finding, and location-based commerce. Logistics systems typically entail tracking vehicles for purposes of the logistics center knowing the whereabouts of the vehicles and/or consignments. Moreover, storing and managing location trajectory of continuously moving vehicles and consignments is necessary for supporting efficient logistics plan and consignment. The proposed system is able to manage spatial objects in GIS as well as logistic information in the mobile environment. And for the efficiently managing and retrieving of transporting trajectory of logistics, we extend previous moving object indexing method, TB-Tree, to use multi-version framework and evaluate data updating performance. It is able to apply the proposed method to develop mobile contents services based on continuously changing location of moving object in the mobile environment.

  • Recently, as the growth of the wireless Internet, PDA and HPC, the focus of research and development related with GIS(Geographic Information System) has been changed to the Real-Time Mobile GIS to service LBS. To offer LBS efficiently, there must be the Real-Time GIS platform that can deal with dynamic status of moving objects and a location index which can deal with the characteristics of location data. Location data can use the same data type(e.g., point) of GIS, but the management of location data is very different. Therefore, in this paper, we studied the Real-Time Mobile GIS using the HBR-tree to manage mass of location data efficiently. The Real-Time Mobile GIS which is developed in this paper consists of the HBR-tree and the Real-Time GIS Platform HBR-tree. we proposed in this paper, is a combined index type of the R-tree and the spatial hash Although location data are updated frequently, update operations are done within the same hash table in the HBR-tree, so it costs less than other tree-based indexes Since the HBR-tree uses the same search mechanism of the R-tree, it is possible to search location data quickly. The Real-Time GIS platform consists of a Real-Time GIS engine that is extended from a main memory database system. a middleware which can transfer spatial, aspatial data to clients and receive location data from clients, and a mobile client which operates on the mobile devices. Especially, this paper described the performance evaluation conducted with practical tests if the HBR-tree and the Real-Time GIS engine respectively.

Fast Heuristic Algorithm for Similarity of Trajectories Using Discrete Fréchet Distance Measure (이산 프레셰 거리 척도를 이용한 궤적 유사도 고속계산 휴리스틱 알고리즘)

  • A trajectory is the motion path of a moving object. The advances in IT have made it possible to collect an immeasurable amount of various type of trajectory data from a moving object using location detection devices like GPS. The trajectories of moving objects are widely used in many different fields of research, including the geographic information system (GIS) field. In the GIS field, several attempts have been made to automatically generate digital maps of roads by using the vehicle trajectory data. To achieve this goal, the method to cluster the trajectories on the same road is needed. Usually, the $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance measure is used to calculate the distance between a pair of trajectories. However, the $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance measure requires prolonged calculation time for a large amount of trajectories. In this paper, we presented a fast heuristic algorithm to distinguish whether the trajectories are in close distance or not using the discrete $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance measure. This algorithm trades the accuracy of the resulting distance with decreased calculation time. By experiments, we showed that the algorithm could distinguish between the trajectory within 10 meters and the distant trajectory with 95% accuracy and, at worst, 65% of calculation reduction, as compared with the discrete $Fr{\acute{e}}chet$ distance.

  • Spatially distributed characteristic of longevity regions analysed using GIS tools. Fundamental factors for long life are categorized into natural conditions and artificial conditions. Degree of longevity is defined and used as a key parameter in analyzing longevity region. It is visually shown that aging areas are moving with time and variances of social and economic status. It is concluded that the degree of longevity is increased with improving living quality because of improvement of economic activities and living environment. However, longevity regions of recent times have slightly reversed tendency against urban areas in the manner of moving toward areas where social and economical activities are relatively weaker.

Implementation of the DMM System for Flight Information Visualization (비행 정보 시각화를 위한 DMM 시스템의 구현)

  • The flight information visualization of the aircraft is the system which is widely used to the threat against low altitude tasks and terrain altitude. But, it is difficult to implement the system because of restrictions that GPS data and huge geographic information should be stored. In this paper, it proposes economic DMM (Digital Moving Map) system for flight information visualization from open-source-base. First, the flight information is transferred from X-Plane through UDP and then demonstrated on the DMM system. In the proposed DMM system, flight information is visualized on the map information downloaded from an ArcGIS Map server using the mapping data between the present altitude of the aircraft and the terrain altitude. The result of this paper could be used an economic tool in the field of flight information visualization and the game algorithm research.
