A TRIZ-Based Solution to Problems in Red Ginseng Processing (트리즈를 활용한 홍삼 제조과정에서의 문제해결)

  • As the word 'creation and innovation' has been the keyword in success, there has been an increasing interest in TRIZ (Theory of inventive problem solving). So far, TRIZ has been applied to electronics and mechanics as the prime mover of product innovation. This study is to explore the applicability of TRIZ to the biotechnology sector, a future emerging technologies, especially to problem solving and innovative research and development. This study was focused on red ginseng processing. Problem causes and contradictions were identified with regard to processing-related problems, and 'the 40 principles of invention' were applied to problem solving. Steamed fresh ginseng is called 'Red ginseng'. Cracks in red ginseng cause the loss of active ingredients and also are not of merchantable quality. In the 40 principles of invention, applicable ones were finally selected through contradiction matrix and brainstorming, the tools of TRIZ. With experiments, effective methods were suggested to prevent red ginseng from cracking in a steaming process.

  • A moving-coil type linear actuator has been widely used in the system reciprocating short stroke because of its several advantages, such as the structural simplicity, low weight and a fast control response speed. This paper presents a design approach for improving the actuating performance with a clear expression of optimal configuration represented by a level set function. The optimization problem is formulated to minimize the variation of magnetic force at every moving displacement of the mover for fast and easy control. To consider the manufacturability of actuator, the concept of phase-field model is incorporated to control the complexity of structural boundaries. To verify the usefulness of the proposed method, the core design example of cylindrical linear actuator is performed.

Grid-based Semantic Cloaking Method for Continuous Moving Object Anonymization (이동 객체 정보 보호를 위한 그리드 기반 시멘틱 클로킹 기법)

  • Location privacy has been a serious concern for mobile users who use location-based services to acquire geographical location continuously. Spatial cloaking technique is a well-known privacy preserving method, which blurs an exact user location into a cloaked area to meet privacy requirements. However, cloaking for continuous moving object suffers from cloaked area size problem as it is unlikely for all objects travel in the same direction. In this paper, we propose a grid-based privacy preservation method with an improved Earth Mover's Distance(EMD) metric weight update scheme for semantic cloaking. We also define a representative cloaking area which protects continuous location privacy for moving users. Experimental implementation and evaluation exhibit that our proposed method renders good efficiency and scalability in cloaking processing time and area size control. We also show that our proposed method outperforms the existing method by successfully protects location privacy of continuous moving objects against various adversaries.

  • Much work has already been done to control and regulate the worldwide problems caused by climate change, particularly the issues on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Carbon dioxide ($CO_2$), having the highest form of concentration among GHGs composed around 1.0 billion tons of emission, and comprises about 98% of the total emissions from the shipping industry. Korean trade mainly rely on the sea transportation. Korean ship tonnages that was brought about by shipbuilders all over the country, continues to grow annually due to the prevailing demands on goods or material supplies and depicting only a small part of the global maritime activity. Nowadays, new build ships coming from the Korean Shipbuilders are being optimized by hull, structure and appendages design, The operational capability of the propulsion and auxiliary machineries in its maximum capacity to achieve the highest possible efficiencies for energy and onboard power use to mitigate $CO_2$ emissions are continually being done through the help of research and development. In this paper, the energy efficiency design index and anboard power capacity of Korean new build ships have been analyzed with response to data collected by ship types, and its respective fuel consumption in relation to $CO_2$ emission results. In response to climate change convention outcome proposals, the best way for the new build ships to become energy efficient is by lowering its operational speed thru adopting the state of the art diesel propulsion engines, patronizing the best sailing practice to lower the transportation cost on the different sea trade routes also helps in $CO_2$ mitigation.

  • 국내 차세대 이동통신 산업은 1994년 세계 최초 CDMA 상용화에 이은 CDMA2000 및 W-CDMA 구축, 세계 최초 최고의 무선 인터넷 기술인 WiBro기술의 개발 및 보급, 꿈의 통신으로 여겨지는 3.9세대 LTE시스템 구축과 보급으로 세계 최고의 뛰어나 기술력을 가진 산업으로 발전하였다. 이러한 우수한 국내 이동 통신 인프라는 기존의 조선 및 선박과 같은 전통산업과 바이오 및 의료기기와 같은 신산업과의 융합을 통하여 국가 경쟁력 한층 더 향상 시키는데 기여하였다. 또한 휴대폰분야에서도 국내 기업이 세계 최고의 경쟁력을 가진 기업으로 성장하는 등, 차세대이동통신 산업은 타 산업과 달리 기술의 빠른 추종자 (Fast Follower)에서 기술 선도자 (First Mover)로서의 지위를 가지게 되었다. 그러나, 이동통신 시스템 분야에서는 이미 중국 업체가 세계적으로 약진하고 있으며, 휴대폰 분야에서는 선도 기업과의 경쟁 및 견제, 후발 주자인 중국 및 대만 기업의 추격에 직면하고 있다. 한편 국내 휴대폰관련 중소 중견기업은 급격한 단말 환경변화에 따라 많은 어려움에 처해 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 차세대 이동통신 기술 선도자로서 지속적인 경쟁력 확보 및 대-중소기업 동반성장 생태계 조성을 통한 모바일 최강국 달성을 위한 이동통신 분야 국가 연구 개발 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 먼저 제I장에서는 차세대이동통신의 개념 및 분류 기준에 대하여 알아보고, 제II장에서는 차세대이동통신에 대한 국내외 현황과 국내 기술 수준 및 기술 경쟁력을 고찰한다. 제III장에서는 기술 선도자로서의 차세대이동통신 분야의 비젼을 제시하고, 이러한 비젼을 실현시키기 위한 국가연구개발 추진 전략을 제시한다. 마지막으로 제IV장에서는 우리나라 이동통신 미래상과 함께 국가연구개발 전략에 대한 결론을 맺는다.

  • Recently, the permanent magnet linear synchronous motor as low noise, high speed and high thrust force transportation system has been proposed but this motor causes an increase of material cost because of its characteristic arranging the armature on the full length of transportation lines when this system is applied to the long distance transportation system. Therefore, we suggested discontinuous arrangement method of the armature to solve this problem. However, Detent force which causes thrust force ripple generating noise, vibration and decline of performance is generated when a mover pass between the armatures. Thus, in this paper, we examined characteristic of detent force to reduce the end edge effect according to the end edge teeth's height and auxiliary teeth and suggested the shape that can the most reduce the detent force.

  • In general mechanical servo systems, friction deteriorates the performance of controllers by its nonlinear characteristics. Especially, friction phenomenon causes steady-state tracking errors and limit cycles in position and velocity control systems, even though gains of controllers are tuned well in linear system model. Even if sensor is used higher accuracy level, it is difficult to improve tracking performance of the position to the same level with a general control method such as PID type. Therefore, many friction models were proposed and compensation methods have been researched actively. In this paper, we consider that the variation of mover's mass is various by loading and unloading. The normal force variation occurs by it an other parameters. Therefore, the proposed control system is composed of main position controller and a friction compensator. A parameter estimator for a nonlinear friction model is designed by adaptive control law and adaptive backstepping control method.

Development of a Moldboard Plow to Invert Furrow Slice at the Same Position (토양의 제자리 반전을 위한 몰드보드 플라우의 개발)

  • On the basis of design theory of soil inversion, two types of moldboard plow with secondary soil mover was designed and constructed to invert furrow slice at same position with furrow bottom. A series of soil bin experiment was carried to investigate the performance of prototypes. First prototype of new concept plow showed two kinds of problems during the preliminary experiment. For the plowing depth of 6cut the prototype did not invert the furrow slice, instead it just cut furrow bottom and the furrow slice returned to the original position. For the plowing depth of 8cm, there was soil clogging problem at the rear part of plow. From the above results it was concluded that the first prototype can not be used for the inversion of furrow slice at same position with furrow bottom. Second prototype could invert furrow slice at the same position with furrow bottom, but the performance was affected by soil moisture content soil hardness and plowing speed very much. For the higher soil moisture content, for the higher soil hardness and higher plowing speed, the prototype showed higher soil inversion performance. For the second prototype the inversion ratio was almost 100%, inversion angle was in the range of 90 to 100 degree and side displacement was less than 4 cm. But the furrow slice was not continuous, it was cut in the length of 30 to 40 cm. The reason why the furrow slice was cut in that length is blamed for the design of moldboard surface. The specific draft of prototype was in the range of 37.24 kN/㎡ to 42.14 kN/㎡ this value is a little higher than that of the conventional plow, or from 30.38 kN/㎡ to 33.32 kN/㎡. But the difference was not so big. The inversion performance of the second prototype for the field experiment was much better than that of soil bin experiment due to the better soil and operational conditions. Sticky and compacted soil conditions, and higher plowing speed was suitable for the plowing operation of the second prototype

Analysis of Success Factors for Innovation of Global Leading SMEs (세계선도 중소기업의 혁신 성공요인 분석)

  • For many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), innovation activities to lead a market with technology development and a globalization strategy tend to be a haphazard process due to a lack of capabilities. Thus, this paper aims to explore success factors of the global leading SMEs in Korea that are not only the first mover through technology innovation but also outstanding in export. The analysis utilizes data from Korean Innovation Survey (KIS) and statistical analyses such as t-test and chi-square are performed to compare global leading SMEs and normal SMEs, concentrating on various factors such as information sources, collaboration and non-technology innovation activities. The results indicate that critical success factors involve information from outside companies (information from conferences and government institutes) and government supports through logistic regression analysis. This research suggests a strategic direction for policy makers to promote innovation and growth in SMEs.
