  • In this paper, we propose the miniaturization size of wearable Range of Motion(ROM) and a system that can be connected with smart devices in real-time to measure the joint movement range dynamically. Currently, the ROM of the joint is directly measured by a person using a goniometer. Conventional methods are different depending on the measurement method and location of the measurement person, which makes it difficult to measure consistently and may cause errors. Also, it is impossible to measure the ROM of joints in real-life situations. Therefore, the wearable sensor is attached to the joint to be measured to develop a miniaturize size ROM device that can measure the range of motion of the joint in real-time. The sensor measured the resistance value changed according to the movement of the joint using a load cell. Also, the sensed analog values were converted to digital values using an Analog to Digital Converter(ADC). The converted amount can be transmitted wireless to the smart device through the wearable sensor node. As a result, the developed device can be measured more consistently than the measurement using the goniometer, communication with IoT-based smart devices, and wearable enables dynamic observation. The developed wearable sensor node will be able to monitor the dynamic state of rehabilitation patients in real-time and improve the rapid change of treatment method and customized treatment.

  • Rhynchophylline (RP) is a major tetracyclic oxindole alkaloid of Uncariae Ramulus et Uncus which has been used to treat hypertension, seizures, pain and anxiety in the oriental countries. A recent report revealed that RP attenuated ischemia-induced neuronal damage and kainite-induced convulsions in animals. This study was performed to investigate whether RP enhances pentobarbital-induced sleep behaviors and modulates sleep architecture in mice. Locomotor activity was significantly inhibited by RP at 0.25 and 0.5 mg/kg, similar to 2 mg/kg diazepam (a benzodiazepine agonist) in mice. RP shortened sleep latency and increased total sleep time in a dose-dependent manner when administrated with pentobarbital (42 mg/kg, i.p.). RP also increased the number of sleeping mice and total sleep time by concomitant administration with the sub-hypnotic dosage of pentobarbital (28 mg/kg, i.p.). On the other hand, RP (0.25 mg/kg, p.o.) itself significantly inhibited sleep-wake cycles, prolonged total sleep time, and rapid eye movement in rats. In addition, RP also increased chloride influx in the primary cultured hypothalamic neuronal cells. In addition, we found that glutamic acid decarboxylase ($GAD_{65/67}$) was activated by RP. In conclusion, RP augments pentobarbital-induced sleeping behaviors, and can be a candidate for treating insomnia.

  • The fatigue of back muscle in the repetitive lifting motion was studied using multiple parameters(FFT_MDF, RMS, 2C, NT) in this study. Recent developments in the time-frequency analysis procedures to compute the IMDF(instantaneous median frequency) were utilized to overcome the nonstationarity of EMG signal using Cohen-Posch distribution. But the above method has a lot of computation time because of its complexity. So, in this study, FFT_MDF(median frequency estimation based on FFT) algorithm was used for median frequency estimation of back muscle EMG signal during muscle work in uniform velocity portion of lumbar movement. The analysis period of EMG signal was determined by using the run test and lumbar movement angle in dynamic task, such as lifting. Results showed that FFT_MDF algorithm is well suited for the estimation of back muscle fatigue from the view point of computation time. The negative slope of a regression line fitted to the median frequency values of back muscle EMG signal was taken as an indication of muscle fatigue. The slope of muscle fatigueness with FFT_MDF method shows the similarity of 77.8% comparing with CP_MDF(median frequency estimation based on Cohen Posch distribution) method.

  • This paper presents a portable tele-assessment system designed for remote evaluation of the hypertonic elbow joint of neurologically impaired patients. A patient's upper limb was securely strapped to a portable limb-stretching device which is connected through Internet to a portable haptic device by which a clinician remotely moved the patient's elbow joint and felt the resistance from the patient. Elbow flexion angle and joint torques were measured from both master and slave devices and bilaterally fed back to their counterparts. In order to overcome problems associated with the network latency, two different tele-operation schemes were proposed depending on relative speed of tasks compared to the amount of time delay. For slow movement tasks, the bilateral tele-operation was achieved in real-time by designing control architectures after causality analysis. For fast movement tasks, we used a semi-real-time tele-operation scheme which provided the clinicians with stable and transparent feeling. The tele-assessment system was verified experimentally on patients with stroke. The devices were made portable and low cost, which makes it potentially more accessible to patients in remote areas.

  • This study is for the characteristic of expression of exhibition presentation in 'The Korean peninsula' which is the Golden Lion Winner at the Venice Biennale in 2014. The Korean peninsula provides two opposite political and economic systems and adaptations of modernism through various multi media images. The curator, Minsuk Cho, presented cinema montage image of Collision for analyzing dynamic exhibition organization and provides the foundation of his theory from Bergson's image and duration to Deleuze's movement-image and time-image which is mentioned from Deleuze's book "cinema 1" and "cinema 2". Furthermore, the Korean peninsula has showed perception-image and affection-image from Eisenstein & Vertov's cinemathology and systemized exhibition presentation. The montage of Collision has maximized the movement from the variety and complexity in a collision and it made difference between information images which are space, time, emotion, intelligence, the tumult between subjectivity and objectivity, fragments from reorganizing itself, and distribution and art images. The limit of montage of Collision's dialectic is not only visual but also space from organic organization but the Korean peninsula overcomes its limit and shows leap of tactile perception and time-reflection from the montage of Collision's dialectic. Therefore, the exhibition of the Korean peninsula presents the conviction of adaptations of modernism.

  • Most of face detection technique uses information from the face of the movement. The traditional face detection method is to use difference picture method ate used to detect movement. However, most do not consider this mathematical approach using real-time or real-time implementation of the algorithm is complicated, not easy. This paper, the first to detect real-time facial image is converted YCbCr and RGB video input. Next, you convert the difference between video images of two adjacent to obtain and then to conduct Glassfire Labeling. Labeling value compared to the threshold behavior Area recognizes and converts video extracts. Actions to convert video to conduct face detection, and detection of facial characteristics required for the extraction and use of AdaBoost algorithm.

  • Currently, safety accidents in hospitals are steadily occurring. In particular, safety accidents of elderly patients with weak immunity, such as nursing hospitals, continue to occur, and countermeasures are needed. Most accidents are caused by patient movement. As a method of reducing safety accidents by analyzing and recognizing the sound of the inpatient room according to the movement of the patient, this paper classifies the sound pattern for sound recognition in the hospital inpatient room using DTW (Dynamic Time Warping), an algorithm applicable to time-series pattern recognition. It was analyzed by applying it to the inpatient room environment.

  • The supply of DSLR cameras has increased recently. Because of its widespread use, different types of DSLR camera video techniques have also been developed. Time-lapse is an effective filming technique that helps produce a fine-quality video clip by taking pictures of multiple camera shots during certain time intervals without recording the actual video clip, as the existing technique does. Machinery equipment (dolly), which controls the speed of movement and shutter, needs to be deleted. This paper introduces a method for a designing movement system that satisfies the design conditions. In addition, this paper proved the validity of the design by performing stress analysis on the static and dynamic conditions of the final design.

  • The tradition of architecture in the East and the West are different in many ways. One of the basic cause of such difference, however, is the different ways of perception of space and time. This paper aims to identify the attitude of perception of space and time in the cultures of the East and the West, and its influence on architecture. Degrees of importance placed on either space or time, as well as the modes of perception of space and time are discussed in relation to architecture. Basically, the architecture of the West seems to be more spatially oriented than the East, and this have much to do with the fact that the tradition of Western architecture is visually oriented. On the other hand, East Asian architecture have been more conscious on bodily feeling and its movement in architecture. Spatial units of traditional Eastern architecture, are arranged in such a way in which man can experience the change of space that is supposed to be organized to form a sequential message. Thus, in the East, temporal dimension is more deliberately included in the course of architectural experience compared to the cases of the West. Although it is not easy to attempt any kind of value judgment on such aspects, it is necessary to understand how the different perception of space and time influenced architectural outcome, especially when one wants to understand the cultural cause that have made the architectures of the East and the West very different. Such understanding is particularly important in East Asia where their future of architecture depends much on how they harmonize the Eastern and Western background which are already built up as two cultural structure in their consciousness to be able to create more desirable architecture for themselves.
