  • When linear PI controller is used in speed control of induction motor, there happen some weaks which is very difficult to find optimal control gain at time of changing speed and load. In this paper, Fuzzy system incorporated with PI controller is proposed in order to that defects. PI gain is calculated by theoretical basis and fuzzy control is translated human expert's knowledge and experiences into rules numerically. Also it modifies and compensates PI gains in realtime. As comparing the motor characteristics of proposed fuzzy-PI speed controller to PI speed controller of a Vector controlled induction motor system in the increasing load torque and speed change during start and stop, The simulation results show robust and good performance.

  • In this paper, an robust adaptive backstepping controller is proposed for the speed control of separately excited DC motor in pure electric vehicles. A general electric drive train of PEV is conceptually rearrange to major subsystems as electric propulsion, energy source, and auxiliary subsystem and the load torque is modeled by considering the aerodynamic, rolling resistance and grading resistance. Armature and field resistance, damping coefficient and load torque are considered as uncertainties and noise generated at applying load torque to motor is also considered. It shows that the backstepping algorithm can be used to solve the problems of nonlinear system very well and robust controller can be designed without the variation of adaptive law. Simulation results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, a novel design algorithm of speed controller for an Induction motor with the inertia variation is proposed. The main contribution of our work is a very robust, reliable and stable procedure for setting of the PI gains against the specified range of the inertia variation of an induction motor using Kharitonovs robust control theory. Therefore, the basic segment of controller design, the variation of induction motor inertia is estimated by the RLS (Recursive least square) method. PI based speed controller is widely used in industrial application for its simple structure and reliable performance. In addition the Kharitonov robust control theory is used for verification stability of closed-loop transfer function. The performance of this proposed design method is proved by digital simulation and experimentation with high performance DSP based induction motor driving system.

  • The PID controller design and choosing PID parameters according to system response are proposed in this paper. Here PID controller is employed to control DC motor speed and Matlab program is used for calculation and simulation. Choosing PID parameters are demonstrated by several contrast experiments and a way for setting PID parameters values is discussed.

  • Induction Motor (IM) has several desirable features for high performance adjustablespeed operation. This paper presents the design of a robust controller for vector control induction motor drive performances improvement. Proposed predictive speed controller, which is aimed to guarantee the stability of the closed loop, is based on the Poisson-Laguerre (PL) models for the association vector control drive and the induction motor; without necessity of any mechanical parameter, and requires only two control parameters to ensure implicitly the integrator effect on the steady state error, load torque disturbances rejection and anti-windup effect. In order to improve robustness, insensitivity against external disturbances and preserve desired performance, adaptive control is added with the aim to ensure an online identification of controller parameters through an online PL models identification. The proposed control is compared with the conventional approach using PI controller. Simulation with MATLAB/SIMULINK software and experimental results for a 1kW induction motor using a dSPACE system with DS1104 controller board are carried out to show the improvement performance.

  • In this paper, a sliding mode controller (SMC) which can be characterized by high accuracy, fast response and robustness is applied to speed control of AC-SERVO motor. The control input is changed to continuous one in the boundary layer to reduce the chattering phenomenon, and the boundary layer converges to zero when the state variables of system reach to steady state values. The integral compensator is added to reduce steady state error and to provide the continuous torque reference. The acceleration which is necessary to get the sliding plane is estimated by an observer. Sliding surface is included in control input to enhance the robustness and transient response without increasing sliding mode controller gain. The proposed controller is implemented by DSP(digital signal processor). The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for speed controller is shown by the real-time experimental results in the paper.

  • This paper presents a power control method of high-speed single-phase BLDC motor. Most electric appliances require a power factor corrector (PFC) to mitigate grid current harmonics. However, the reactive components and power semiconductors in the PFC increase system cost and dimension. In this paper, a new motor drive system for a high-speed single-phase BLDC motor is proposed, which can decrease grid current harmonics without PFC by directly manipulating motor power and eliminating bulky electrolytic dc-link capacitor. Given that the proposed motor power control method does not require motor current controller, no current sensor is necessary. Moreover, the proposed algorithms can be easily implemented using a low-cost micro-controller. The effectiveness of the proposed power control method is verified by experiments.

  • In this paper, we implemented the variable spped controller of an induction motor using the self-tuning fuzzy control algorithms, which recently is invoking the remarkable interest. Also we preposed a self-tuning technique of scale factors which could easily design the fuzzy speed controller. Comparing with conventional PI speed controller, the performances of proposed fuzzy controller such as dynamic responses and its the robustness against load disturbance were substantially improved.

  • In this paper, a controller design for high speed and stiffness linear motor is implemented. The designed controller is mainly composed of speed and current controller, which are carried out by the high-speed digital signal processor(DSP). In addition the PWM inverter is controlled by space voltage PWM method. This system is implemented by using 32-bit DSP(TMS320C31), a high-integrated logic device(EPM7128), and IPM(Intelligent Power Module) for compact and powerful system design. The experimental results show the effective performance of controller for high speed and stiffness linear motor.
