  • In this study, with the purpose of fundamentally improving the unbalance response vibration of a large PRT motor-generator rotor by design, a performance improvement design analysis is carried-out by retrofitting tilting pad bearings, replacing the plain partial journal bearings that were originally applied for operation at a rated speed of 1,800 rpm. In this process, a goal of the design analysis is to obtain a design solution for maximizing the direct stiffness of the bearings while satisfying the key basic lubrication performance requirements such as the minimum lift-off speed and maximum oil-film temperature. The results show that with a careful design application of tilting pad journal bearings for operation at such a relatively low speed of 1,800 rpm, direct stiffness increment of the bearings by about two times can be effectively achieved. Prevention of pad unloading is also considered in the analysis. Moreover, the designs of elliptical and offset half journal bearings are also analyzed and reviewed.

  • Blower as an air supply system is one of the most important BOP (Balance of Plant) system fur FCV(Fuel Cell Vehicle). For generating and blowing compressed air, the motor of air blower consumes maximum 25% of net power and fuel cell demands a clean air. Considering the efficiency of whole FCV, low friction lubrication of high speed rotor is needed. For the purpose of reducing electrical power and supplying clean air to Fuel cell, oil-free air foil bearings are applied at the each side of brushless motor (BLDC) as journal bearings which diameter is 50mm. The normal power of driving motor has 1.7kW with the 30,000rpm operating range and the flow rate of air has maximum 160 SCFM. The impeller of blower was adopted a mixed type of centrifugal and axial which has several advantages for variable operating condition. The performance of turbo-blower and parameters of air foil bearings was investigated analytically and experimentally. From this study, the performance of the blower was confirmed to be suitable far 80kw PEM FC.

  • 고압하에서 고속으로 작동하는 유압 피스톤 펌프(hydraulic piston pump) 또는 모터(motor) 등의 유압기계(hydrostatic machine)에서 피스톤과 실린더 사이의 간극(clearance)을 흐르는 유압유(hydraulic oil)의 유동에 관한 연구는 이러한 유압기계의 피스톤부 설계에서 특히 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 원통형 피스톤이 원통부와 테이퍼가 진 부분으로 나누어져 있는 복합(composite)형상의 피스톤에 대한 이론해석을 수행하여 피스톤의 형상이 유압 피스톤 펌프의 윤활성능에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 한다.

  • Since my arrival on March 15, 1986 I can only give an overview of several topics which I think might stimulate ideas and questions from the members of this technical organization. These topics will include some thoughts about the Korean automotive industry, future needs regarding manpower and cooperation among manufacturers, the oil industry and the government. Korea is experiencing a tremendous growth not only in the export market but also in domestic sales of motor vehicles. This expansion will require trained manpower in many areas of expertise. This growth in technology and manpower will require a great degree of coordination and cooperation between companies and government to reduce duplication, minimize costs and reduce reliance on foreign technology.

가스 포일 스러스트 베어링의 하중지지 성능 및 구동 토크에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Load Carrying Performance and Driving Torque of Gas Foil Thrust Bearings)

  • Gas foil thrust bearings (GFTBs) have attractive advantages over rolling element bearings and oil film thrust bearings, such as oil-free operation, high speed stability, and high-temperature operation. However, GFTBs have lower load carrying capacity than the other two types of bearings owing to the inherent low gas viscosity. The load carrying capacity of GFTBs depends mainly on the compliance of the foil structure and the formed hydrodynamic wedge, where the gas pressure field is generated between the top foil and the thrust runner. The load carrying capacity of the GFTBs is very important for the suitable design of oil-free turbomachinery with high performance. The aim of the present study is to identify the characteristics of the load carrying performance of GFTBs. A new test rig for the experimental measurements is designed to provide static loads up to 800 N using a pneumatic cylinder. The maximum operating speed of the driving motor is 30,000 rpm. A series of experimental tests—lift-off test, static load performance test, and maximum load capacity test—estimate the performance of a six-pad GFTB, in terms of the static load, driving torque, and temperature. The maximum load capacity is determined by increasing the static load until the driving torque rises suddenly with a sharp peak. The test results show that the torque and temperature increase linearly with the static load. The estimated maximum load capacity per unit area is approximately 80.5 kPa at a rotor speed of 25,000 rpm. The test results can be used as a design guideline for GFTBs for realizing oil-free turbomachinery.

  • In the preceding Part I study, for improving the unbalance response vibration of a large PRT motor-generator rotor fundamentally by design, a series of design analyses were carried out for bearing improvement by retrofitting from original plain partial journal bearings, applied for operation at a rated speed of 1,800 rpm, to final tilting pad journal bearings. To satisfy evenly key basic lubrication performances such as the minimum lift-off speed and maximum oil-film temperature, a design solution of 5-pad tilting pad journal bearings and maximizing the direct stiffness by about two times has been achieved. In this Part II study, a detailed rotordynamic analysis of the large PRT motor-generator rotor-bearing system will be performed, applying both the original plain partial journal bearings and the retrofitted tilting pad journal bearings, to confirm the effect of rotordynamic vibration improvement after retrofitting. The results show that the rotor unbalance response vibrations with the tilting pad journal bearings are greatly reduced by as much as about one ninth of those with the plain partial journal bearings. In addition, for the tilting pad journal bearings there exist no critical speed up to the rated speed and just one instance of a concerned critical speed around the rated speed, whereas for the plain partial journal bearings there exist one instance of a critical speed up to the rated speed and two instances of concerned critical speeds around the rated speed.

  • 전동 엑추에이터는 사용자의 명령 입력 신호(열림/닫힘/정지)를 받아 엑추에이터 내부의 각종 센서(밸브의 위치, 회전력, 모터의 상태 등)들의 상태를 확인하고 모터를 정/역 제어하여 밸브를 개폐하고 엑추에이터(밸브)의 현재 상태를 출력하는 장치로 댐, 발전소, 상하수도 시설, 송유관 시설 등 다양한 분야에서 사용하는 장치이다. 전동 엑추에이터가 발전소 등에 설치되어 가동 중 문제가 발생할 경우 경제적으로 큰 손실이 발생할 수 있으므로 시스템의 신뢰성이 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 전동 엑추에이터의 안전성을 높이기 위해 소프트웨어적으로 발생할 수 있는 신뢰성 문제를 하드웨어적으로 ON/OFF 시간 설정이 가능한 전동 엑추에이터 컨트롤 장치 개발을 진행하였다. 또한 전동 엑추에이터 제어 장치 개발 환경은 Xilinx 사의 Spartan7 FPGA와 Altium 툴을 활용하여 개발하였다.

항유화제 및 전기장을 이용한 물/비튜멘 에멀전의 분리특성 (Bitumen Emulsion Separation by Chemical Demulsification and Electrical Treatment)

  • 본 연구에서는 항유화제와 전기장을 이용하여 물/비튜멘 에멀전에서의 효과적인 물 분리 방법에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 물/비튜멘 에멀전의 물 분리 효율을 측정하기위한 기초실험을 진행하였으며, 기초실험에서는 비튜멘의 모사를 위해 모터 오일(GS Caltex, Deluxe Gold V 7.5 W/30, Hyundai gear oil 85 W/140)을 사용하였다. 기초실험을 통해 높은 물 분리 효율을 갖는 항유화제를 선택하였으며, 선택된 항유화제를 사용해 아스팔트 및 비튜멘 에멀전에서의 분리실험을 진행하였다. 지용성 항유화제 중에서는 말레산무수물(maleic anhydride)과 e-카프로락탐(e-caprolactam)이 높은 분리 효율을 보였으며, 수용성 항유화제는 2-에틸헥실 아크릴레이트(2-ethylhexyl acrylate)와 아크릴산(acrylic acid)이 높은 분리 효율을 보여주었다. 앞선 기초실험을 통해 얻어진 결과를 바탕으로 지용성 항유화제 2종, 수용성 항유화제 2종을 선택하여 아스팔트 에멀전에서의 분리실험을 진행하였다. 또한, 실험실규모의 전기장을 이용하여 오일처리기(oiltreater)를 설계, 제작하였으며 제작된 장치와 항유화제를 연계하여 에멀전의 분리효율을 실험하였다.

  • 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. (1) 유압 펌프, 유량조절 밸브(오리피스)등을 주된 구성 요소로 하는 구조가 간단하고, 운전.관리가 용이한 유압식 풍력.열 변환 장치를 개발하였다. (2) 실험 결과로부터 본 장치의 에너지 변환 효율이 매우 높음을 확인하였다. (3) 출력 에너지가 열 에너지이므로 온수 탱크를 사용하여 쉽게 에너지를 저장할 수 있음을 실험적으로 확인하였다. (4) 본 장치는 대량 생산되는 유압 부품들만을 사용하여 구성이 가능하므로 매우 저렴한 가격으로, 신뢰성이 우수한 장치를 제작할 수 있다

국제해난구조협약의 개정 및 문제점 -사법적 문제를 중심으로- (Some Issues on the Rivision of the 1910 International Salvage Convention and in Particular the Question in Private Law)

  • According to the report prepared by Legl Committee of IMO, 1978, since the disaster of motor tanker Amoco Cadiz carrying approximate 220, 000 tons of crude oil was wrecked on the coast of France and damaged the largest oil pollution accident in shipping history, Legal Committee of IMO has studied and discussed a new Salvage Convention with assistance of CMI. CMI has prepared a new draft convention under the chairmanship of professor Erling Chr. Selvig and adopted it as a report of CMI to IMO in the 32 Internaltional Conference of CMI, Montreal, May, 1981. This paper has been written to study comparatively andinterprete the questions and/or considerations of the new draft convention by the delegates participated in the Legal Committee of IMO in particular on the private legal view of it. This Salvage Convention Draft has not yet been deliberated thoroughly to agreed the revisiion of the 1910 Convention in accordance with CMI Report 1981 until session 54, March 1985. Therefore this paper has been prepared in the light of the comments made at the Legal Committee in order to interpret the legal questions and contents of the new draft.
