Methods : The subject was a 4 years old boy with mental retardation. We applied the Bobath approach to the subject. Treatments included to facilitate trunk alignment and stability, and to train weight bearing and shifting, to facilitate pelvis posterior-anterior movement, and to train walk especially stance phase and assist up-down stairs locomotion in environment similar to actual daily life. It was performed 24 sessions for 12 weeks. Results : With this treatment, he could accomplish dynamic standing stability and he could independent walk at the out door after 12 weeks. In gross motor function measure(GMFM), total motor function was improved to 85.6% from 75.7%. Conclusion : The gait ability of child with mental retardation was improved by using the bobath approach.
In order to achieve a essential requirement for the driving system of electric vehicles, that is, starting pick-up ability, a wound-type induction motor with double-rotor structure is proposed. Slip Power Recovery system is adopted to improve the efficiency in the low speed range and to control speed of this system. Theoretical analysis and experimental results from 300[W] prototype motor is presented to verify the improvement of pick-up ability and high-efficiency driving characteristics through the wide speed range, especially under the low speed range.
In this paper, improved direct torque control(DTC) of five-phase induction motor(IM) is proposed. Due to the additional degrees of freedom, five-phase IM drives present unique characteristics. One of them is the ability of enhancing the torque producing capability of the motor. Also five-phase motor drives possess many others advantage compared with the traditional three-phase motor drives. Such as, reducing the amplitude and increasing of frequency of torque pulsation, reducing amplitude of current per phase without increasing the voltage per phase and increasing the reliability. The direct torque control method is advantageous when it is applied to the five-phase IM. Because the five-phase inverter provides 32 space vectors in comparison to 8 space voltage vectors by the three-phase inverter. The 32 space voltage vectors are divided into three groups according to their magnitudes. The characteristics and dynamic performance of traditional five-phase DTC are analyzed and new DTC for five-phase IM is proposed. Therefore, a more precise flux and torque control algorithm for the five-phase IM drives can be suggested and explained. For presenting the superior performance of the pro-posed direct torque control, experimental results is presented using a 32 bit fixed point TMS320F2812 digital signal processor

In order for small electric vehicles to drive on hilly roads in Korea, methods to improve the climbing ability and power performance of vehicles should be taken. In order to improve the power performance of small electric vehicles, the performance of motors mounted on electric vehicles should be improved. However, if the performance of the motor is improved to improve the power performance of the electric vehicle, it is possible to lower the price competitiveness accordingly. In addition, the power consumption of the battery is rapidly increased to drive the high-performance motor, so in order to introduce the small electric vehicle into the domestic market, various problems must be overcome. In order to commercialize small electric vehicles that do not emit harmful exhaust gases to the human body in the hilly domestic terrain, it is effective to introduce a separate continuously variable transmission system that can improve the climbing ability and power transmission ability. In this study, we propose a proprietary model of continuously variable transmissions that can be applied to small electric vehicles. The proposed continuously variable transmission is equipped with a spring in the driving pulley and the driven pulley, and has the advantage of performing a shift that increases torque in a situation where the vehicle needs to increase torque when driving on a hill. In addition, the basic design for commercialization of the proposed continuously variable transmission was carried out, and the prototype manufactured and attached to the body of a small electric vehicle.
Purpose: New therapeutic approaches have emerged to improve gait ability in patients with brain damage, such as action observation learning (AOT), auditory cueing, motor imagery etc. We attempted to investigate the effects of AOT with auditory cueing (AOTAC) on gait function in patients with stroke. Methods: The eighteen stroke patients with a unilateral hemiparesis were randomly divided into three groups; the AOTAC, AOT, and control groups. The AOTAC group (n=8) received training via observing a video that showed normal gait with sound of footsteps as an auditory cue; the AOT group (n=6) receive action observation without auditory stimulation; the control group (n=5) observed the landscape video image. Intervention time of three groups was 30 minutes per day, five times a week, for four weeks. Gait parameters, such as cadence, velocity, stride length, stance phase, and swing phase were collected in all patients before and after each training session. Results: Significant differences were observed among the three groups with respect to the parameters, such as cadence, velocity, stride length, and stance/swing phase. Post-hoc analysis indicated that the AOTAC group had a greater significant change in all of parameters, compared with the AOT and control groups. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that AOTAC may be an effective therapeutic approach to improve gait symmetry and function in patients with stroke. We believe that this effect is attributable to the change of cortical excitability on motor related to cortical areas.
Purpose: In this study, based on the error augmentation, we performed walking training with increased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed on the affected side (IRAS) and walking training with decreased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed on the unaffected side (DRAS). The purpose of this study was to verify whether motor learning was effective in improving balance ability. Methods: Twenty-eight subjects with chronic stroke were recruited from a rehabilitation center. The subjects were divided into three groups: an IRAS group (10 subjects), a DRAS group (9 subjects), and control group (9 subjects). They received 30minutes of neuro-developmental therapy and walking training for 30minutes, five times a week for three weeks. Static and functional balance ability were measured before and after the training period. Static balance was measured by balancia software. Functional balance was measured by the timed up and go test (TUG) and the berg balance scale (BBS). Results: After the training periods, the IRAS group showed a significant improvement in TUG, BBS, area 95% COP, and weight distribution on the affected side when compared to both the DRAS group and control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, it is possible to consider error augmentation methods of motor learning if rhythmic auditory stimulation is applied to stroke patients in clinical practice. If the affected side is shorter than the unaffected side, the affected side should be adjusted to the increased rhythmic auditory stimulation speed, which is considered to be an effective intervention to improve balance ability.
A linear motor makes a long stroke by accumulating short steps, which is based on the quasistatic deformation of a magnetostrictive material in a magnetic field. It's also called as inchworm effect. The application areas of linear motors are an adaptive and active optics, X-Y positioning, precision alignment, etc. It is found that control of the frequency and current inputs are all that is necessary to control the speed handling ability of the linear motor. In inchworm mode, linear speeds of up to $500{\mu}m/s$ are achieved resulting from the accumulation of $25{\mu}m$ steps at 1.4A.
Due to the excellent durability of Timing Chain, it has been widely used for vehicle engine system. Unlike the timing belt, since the timing chain is operated with the metallic sprocket, the lubrication system is absolutely needed to get this system start. As frequently met at the field, the lubricant has a strong tendency to leak out from the engine due to its severe operating environment. In this paper, results of investigation for thermal movement of aluminum chain cover were described to maximize the sealing ability which is desperately needed at the development stage of engine. Based on these results, some ideas for reproducing the leakage phenomenon and solving methods were proposed.
This paper presents a speed control system of induction motor using neural network. The speed control of induction motor was designed to NNC(Neural Network Controller) and NNE(Neural Network Estimator) used backpropagation, the NNE was constituted to be get an error value of output of an induction motor and conspire an input/output. NNC is controled to be made the error of reference speed and actual speed decrease, and in order to determine the weighting of NNC can be back propagated through the NNE, and it is adapted to the outside circumstances and system characters with learning ability.
An economical 4-axis CNC controller employing step motors is designed and implemented in this paper. By using the inherent ability of holding position of the motor, the CNC controller uses open-loop control for removing trajectory error and for a simple hardware. Each drive of axis has an 8-bit microprocessor 89C52 and a PC controls the axes and pendant by means of RS232C serial communication. Backlash is also compensated at the axis controller. While compensating the backlash, the feed rate becomes zero in order to minimize trajectory error. The trajectories of 16ms interval are computed on PC and are sent to motor drives. In the drives, the trajectories are linearly interpolated for 2ms interval. The developed CNC does not require add-on specific motion card on PC. From the experimental results, the validity of the CNC controller based on step motor is proved.
