선박의 운동 운항환경 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of the Motion Monitoring System of a Ship)

  • 바다에서 운항하는 선박은 바람과 파도 등의 외란 때문에 횡동요(Rolling), 종동요(Pitching), 상하동요(Heaving) 등의 운동을 하게 되며, 이러한 운동은 가속도 형태로 승객이 느끼게 된다. 따라서, 선박내의 특정 지점에서 좌우방향, 상하방향 가속도와 각속도 등을 계측하면 선원 또는 승객이 선박 운동에 어느 정도 피폭되었는가를 알 수 있다. 본 연구에서 개발한 운동 운항환경 모니터링 시스템은 4개의 가속도계와 가속도계, 자이로가 포함된 관성 자세계측장치, 데이터 취득장치를 포함한 계측 및 통신부, 중앙에서 데이터를 관리하고, 운항환경 지수를 계산하는 전산기로 구성되고, 계측된 가속도와 각속도를 이용하여 운항환경을 나타내는 정량적 지수인 뱃멀미 지수(Motion Sickness Incidence, MSI), 운동유발 작업방해회수(Motion Induced Interrupt, MII)를 실시간으로 계산한다. 개발된 시스템은 한국해양대학교 실습선인 한나라호의 부산-목포, 부산-제주 연안항해시 실선시험을 통하여 유효성을 확인하였다.

동작인식 스마트 의류제품의 특징적 유형 분석 (The analysis of the characteristic types of motion recognition smart clothing products)

  • The purpose of this study is to utilize technology as basic data for smart clothing product research and development. This technology can recognize user's motion according to characteristics types and functions of wearable smart clothing products. In order to analyze the case of motion recognition products, we searched for previous research data and cases referred to as major keywords in leading search engines, Google and Naver. Among the searched cases, information on the characteristics and major functions of the 42 final products selected on the market are examined in detail. Motion recognition for smart clothing products is classified into four body types: head & face, body, arms & hands, and legs & feet. Smart clothing products was developed with various items, such as hats, glasses, bras, shirts, pants, bracelets, rings, socks, shoes, etc., It was divided into four functions health care type for prevention of injuries, health monitor, posture correction, sports type for heartbeat and exercise monitor, exercise coaching, posture correction, convenience for smart controller and security and entertainment type for pleasure. The function of the motion recognition smart clothing product discussed in this study will be a useful reference when designing a motion recognition smart clothing product that is blended with IT technology.

Development for Tilting Train Dynamics Motion Base

  • This paper describes the construction of a half sphere screen driving tilting simulator that can perform six degree-of-freedom (DOF) motions simulator to a tilting train. The mathematical equations of Tilting Train dynamics are first derived from the 6-DOF bicycle model and incorporated with the bogie, carbody, and suspension subsystems. The equations of motion are then programmed by visual C++ code. To achieve the simulator functions, a motion platform that is constructed by six electric-driven actuators is designed, and its kinetics/inverse kinetics analysis is also conducted. Driver operation signals such as carbady angle, accelerator, and tilting positions are measured to trigger the Tilting dynamics calculation and further actuate the cylinders by the motion platform control program. In addition, a digital PID controller is added to achieve the stable and accurate displacements of the motion platform. The experiments prove that the designed simulator is adequate in performing some special rail road driving situations discussed in this paper.

Motion Compensated Subband Video Coding with Arbitrarily Shaped Region Adaptivity

  • The performance of Motion Compensated Discrete Cosine Transform (MC-DCT) video coding is improved by using the region adaptive subband image coding [18]. On the assumption that the video is acquired from the camera on a moving platform and the distance between the camera and the scene is large enough, both the motion of camera and the motion of moving objects in a frame are compensated. For the compensation of camera motion, a feature matching algorithm is employed. Several feature points extracted using a Sobel operator are used to compensate the camera motion of translation, rotation, and zoom. The illumination change between frames is also compensated. Motion compensated frame differences are divided into three regions called stationary background, moving objects, and newly emerging areas each of which is arbitrarily shaped. Different quantizers are used for different regions. Compared to the conventional MC-DCT video coding using block matching algorithm, our video coding scheme shows about 1.0-dB improvements on average for the experimental video samples.

움직임 실루엣 영상의 일반적인 표현 방식에 대한 연구 (A General Representation of Motion Silhouette Image: Generic Motion Silhouette Image(GMSI))

  • In this paper, a generalized version of the Motion Silhouette Image(MSI) called the Generic Motion Silhouette Image (GMSI) is proposed for gait recognition. The GMSI is a gray-level image and involves the spatiotemporal information of individual motion. The GMSI not only generalizes the MSI but also reflects a flexible feature of a gait sequence. Along with the GMSI, we use the Principal Component Analysis(PCA) to reduce the dimensionality of the GMSI and the Nearest Neighbor(NN) for classification. We apply the proposed feature to NLPR database and compare it with the conventional MSI. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the GMSI.

  • This study focuses on the behavioural lexical classification for extracting animation character actions and the analysis of the character's upper and lower body movements. The behaviour and state of characters in the animation industry are crucial, and digital technology is enhancing the industry's value. However, research on animation motion application technology and behavioural lexical classification is still lacking. Therefore, this study aims to classify the predicates enabling animation motion, differentiate the upper and lower body movements of characters, and apply the behavioural lexicon's motion data. The necessity of this research lies in the potential contributions of advanced character motion technology to various industrial fields, and the use of the behavioural lexicon to elucidate and repurpose character motion. The research method applies a grammatical, behavioural, and semantic predicate classification and behavioural motion analysis based on the character's upper and lower body movements.

PET/CT 영상 움직임 보정 (Motion Correction in PET/CT Images)

  • PET/CT fused image with anatomical and functional information have improved medical diagnosis and interpretation. This fusion has resulted in more precise localization and characterization of sites of radio-tracer uptake. However, a motion during whole-body imaging has been recognized as a source of image quality degradation and reduced the quantitative accuracy of PET/CT study. The respiratory motion problem is more challenging in combined PET/CT imaging. In combined PET/CT, CT is used to localize tumors and to correct for attenuation in the PET images. An accurate spatial registration of PET and CT image sets is a prerequisite for accurate diagnosis and SUV measurement. Correcting for the spatial mismatch caused by motion represents a particular challenge for the requisite registration accuracy as a result of differences in PET/CT image. This paper provides a brief summary of the materials and methods involved in multiple investigations of the correction for respiratory motion in PET/CT imaging, with the goal of improving image quality and quantitative accuracy.

수직이착륙 무인기 함상 착륙점의 상하 운동 추정 (Heave Motion Estimation of a Ship Deck for Shipboard Landing of a VTOL UAV)

  • When a helicopter lands on a ship deck in high sea states, one of main difficulties is the ship motion by sea wave, In case of a manned helicopter, a pilot lands a helicopter on the deck during quiescent period of ship motion, which is perceived from different visual cues around landing spot. The capability to predict this quiescent period is very important especially for shipboard recovery of VTOL UAV in harsh environments. This paper describes how to predict heave motion of a ship for shipboard landing of a VTOL UAV. For simulation, ship motion by sea wave was generated using a 4,000 ton class US destroyer model. Heave motion of ship deck was predicted by applying auto-regression method to generated time series data of ship motion.

  • 현대 커뮤니케이션 디자이너는 시각적 혹은 형태적인 운영이나 해석은 물론 컨텐츠의 개발과 스토리 텔러로서 의 역할이 요구된다. 그러나 커뮤니케이션 디자이너들에게 있어서 컨텐츠를 이루는 이야기 구조에 대한 이해와 실험은 아직도 미미한 상태이다. 특히 디지털 기술의 급속한 발달로 인하여 80년대부터 타이포그라피의 영역은 정적인 형태에서 역동적인 형태를 갖는 Type in Motion으로 빠르게 전이되고 있다. 이에 스토리의 내용과 구조를 가장 잘 표현 할 수 있는 수단으로서의 Type in Motion에 관한 체계적인 연구가 필요하게 되었다. 본 논문은 이러한 컨텐츠로서의 스토리를 형태로서의 Type in Motion 기법을 이용해서 어떻게 효과적으로 표현 할 수 있는가를 연구한 것이다. . Type in Motion의 구성요소를 통해서 스토리의 함축적인 표현 방법과 기능적인 표현 방법을 분석하였다. 오늘날 디지털 기술이 디자이너에게 많은 혜택을 가져다 준 것은 사실이지만 한편으로는, 디지털 디자인의 효율적인 운영을 위해서는 다양한 분야의 지식이 필요하다. 따라서 디지털 타이포그라피를 다루는 디자이너도 시각언어로서의 Type in Motion뿐 아니라 음성언어로서의 Type in Motion에 대한 이해와 연구가 필요하다. 이런. 관점에서 스토리와 Type in Motion를 전체론 적 관점에서 해석하고 이들의 유기적 관계를 탐구하는 것은 효과적인 디지털 타이포그라피의 운영에 있어서 필수적이라고 하겠다.

Hybrid Model-Based Motion Recognition for Smartphone Users

  • This paper presents a hybrid model solution for user motion recognition. The use of a single classifier in motion recognition models does not guarantee a high recognition rate. To enhance the motion recognition rate, a hybrid model consisting of decision trees and artificial neural networks is proposed. We define six user motions commonly performed in an indoor environment. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed model, we conduct a real field test with ten subjects (five males and five females). Experimental results show that the proposed model provides a more accurate recognition rate compared to that of other single classifiers.
