Comparisons of Grain Size Analysis Results by Different Pretreatments Procedures in Loess-paleosol Sediments (뢰스-고토양 퇴적물의 전처리 과정에 따른 입도분석 결과 비교)

  • Grain size analysis of sediments and soils has been regarded as a one of the most important analytical methods in Earth Sciences. The results of grain size analysis by 10 different pretreatment procedures in loess-paleosol sediments are compared in the study. In spite of the most powerful effectiveness of dispersant(sodium hexametaphosphate) on the dispersions of sediments, the effects show large differences by its treatment orders with HCl. It may result from that $Na^+$ ions in the dispersant may not be able to effectively substitute $Ca^{2+}$ ions in the sediments due to the electrostatic forces between $Na^+$ and $Cl^-$ ions in the dispersant and HCl, respectively. Although $H_2O_2$ and HCl are more effective in dispersion than hot water, they do not affect greatly the dispersions. Therefore, the reliable results of grain size analysis can be obtained by selecting the adequate pretreatment procedures most suitable for the purposes of researches and characteristics of sediments.

A Study on the attitudes toward Research and Development of herbal products (제약업계의 한약제제 연구개발 현황 및 허가에 대한 인식도 조사 연구)

  • A survey was conducted to investigate the attitudes of pharmaceutical companies toward the status and permission of R & D of herbal products. The survey's results showed that some of them(42.9%) was conducting the R&D, and others(57.1%) were not conducting. As the results of analysis on the reason of R&D conducting, some of them(42.3%) answered that R&D of herbal products is more effective and powerful than these of synthetic products. And 23.1% answered that the cost of R&D is low and the time required is short. And another 23.1% answered that it has marketability and competitive power. As the results of analysis on the marketability of herbal products in Pharmaceutical Market, most of them(78.6%) answered that it seems enough. As the result of the comparison of synthetic drug and herbal products, the proportion of R&D investment on herbal products was lower than synthetic products in the preclinical study, the first clinical study and the second clinical study, and higher than in the third clinical study and the NDA. And the periods of R&D was long in most procedure except synthesis of new materials. As the results of analysis on the recognition of related regulation, most of them(73%) was yes. And 35.2% of the subjects thinks it enough.

Elimination of R-Plasmid in Streptomyces bobili (YS-40) by Ethldium Bromide (Ethidium Bromide에 의한 Streptomyces bobili(YS-40)의 R-Plasmid 제거)

  • Streptomyces bobili (YS-40) isolated from soil was tested that it had drug resistance against penicillin, cephalosporin series antibiotics and other antibiotics in the previous paper. The treatment of Streptomyces bobili, (YS-40) with ethidium bromide (EtBr), acriflavine and sodium dodecyl sulfate. (SDS) resulted in the elimination of R-plasmid from the host strain. Minimum growth inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of Hg, Ag, penicillin-G, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, oxytetracycline, streptomycin and kanamycin were found to be 15, 10, > 3, 000, > 100, > 1, 000, > 100, < 5 and < 5$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$ respectively. Among the curing agents, EtBr was proved to be the most powerful compound for the elimination of R-plasmid in the strain and the elimination rate with EtBr(10$\mu\textrm{g}$/$m\ell$) was about 98%. Optimal pH to. the elimination of R-plasmid was pH 7.0 and the R-plasmid in the cells incubated for 24 hrs was proved to be eliminated most effectively. Aerial mass color, soluble pigment formation and reverse side color were reported to be often the plasmid associated characteristics of the R-plasmid bearing bacteria. But these characteristics of the uncured and cured Streptomyces bobili, (YS-40) showed no changes in the most of the pigment formation media tested in this work.

  • Partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) is a powerful and indispensable detection scheme for perpendicular magnetic recording channels. The proposed method is a low complexity detection scheme which is related to the PRML system. The simulation results show that PR(1,2,3,4,3,2,1)ML and PR(l,2,3,3,2,1)ML using modulation encoding with R=2/3 have the most improved performance at K=3,4. However, in the case of K=3, R=2/3 PR(1,1,1,1)ML effectively reduces the complexity compared to PR(1,2,3,3,2,1), but it has L5dB performance degradation at most. In the case of K=4, R=l PR(1,2,2,1)ML has very low complexity compared to R=2/3 PR(l,2,3,4,3,2,1)ML. but it has about 2dB performance degradation at most.

Beyond Words and Sounds: A Study on the Language of T. S. Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral (말과 소리 저 너머 -『대성당의 살인』의 언어고찰)

  • T. S. Eliot attempted the combining of the liturgy of Anglican Church and a drama in Murder in the Cathedral (1935) and created a modern verse drama which comes most close to the regular tragedy like Greek tragedy today. Eliot chose the drama to deliver his religious insight because of its ritualistic origin and its potentiality to deliver a dramatic world which can contain a complete order. The central theme of this play is the martyrdom. The dramatic action of killing the archbishop Thomas Beckett in this play, however, is not treated as important event enough to be a dramatic climax. He is portrayed as a witness to the reality of God's will rather than a man who wills to give up his own life for any religious belief or cause. In Eliot, a martyr is nothing but "a witness" in its ancient sense. This paper purposes to review the language of this play. The various and new meters and rhythms of the language of this play function enough to bring its playwright to encounter 'the real audience' in 'a living theatre'. The interactions between different verbal models also play a big role to make this play a living theatre. Eliot found the poetry which crosses the various classes and levels of the tastes of audience is the most useful poetry. And the poetry of this play proves as the very thing which intensifies the theme of the play and gives the most powerful force to the play. Especially Eliot's poetry succeeds smost in the various and free meters of chorus, which makes Eliot the first playwright since Aeschylus, who could bring the chorus to undertake the function of extending the dramatic action of the play into the universal meaning. In the theatre the real audience identifies themselves with chorus. And the chorus leads the audience to respond to peace which passeth understanding beyond words and sounds of this play, which is the desired response in Eliot's conception of drama.

A Study on E-mail Campaigns and Feedback Analysis as Marketing Tools of Internet Fashion Shopping Malls - With Focus on Specialized Fashion Shopping Malls - (인터넷 패션쇼핑몰의 이메일 마케팅 활용과 반응 - 패션 전문몰을 중심으로 -)

  • E-mail has indeed developed from 'a means of instant communication' to an indispensable part of online marketing. Therefore, companies need to implement consistent customer management. Communication with customers and marketing through e-mail is a powerful way of communication and adapting one-to-one marketing strategies to customer trends, habits and taste preferences. Since setting accurate targets is especially important in the fashion industry, e-mail marketing is the most effective way to communicate with customers and one-to-one marketing constitutes a very important strategy. In this study, I will analyze this powerful one-on-one marketing tool, particularly actual e-mail messages sent by an Internet Shopping Mall from June 12 to July 30, 2005, examine the effect of these messages on sales growth and analyze actual feedback received. Regarding e-mail read rates broken down by age and gender, 1 found that females in their late twenties recorded the highest rate at 21.66% and their contribution to sales growth was recorded at 3.5% From actual sales records, found that 28.10% of total sales were attributable to people in their late twenties, showing that the age group that reads e-mails the most also buys the most. Regarding feedback by e-mail title, e-mails from the 'Casual' category seemed to be the most effective, in that most of these e-mails were read. Also, messages sent on Tuesdays were read the most, according to the feedback analysis by weekday. Section e-mails were read more often than regular e-mails. Regarding the view rate according to the time e-mails were sent, messages sent to females in their late twenties at two o'clock in the afternoon were read by 20.93% of recipients, recording the highest read rate. By offering informative content and practical tips, visitors will be attracted to the site and generate site traffic. Therefore, we can conclude that sending e-mail messages can greatly contribute to sales growth and e-mail marketing is very effective. Also, in order to make e-mail campaigns more effective and improve marketing results, we need to analyze actual results and apply our findings in future e-mail campaigns. With this, we get successful marketing results.

Atmospheric Concentrations of PAHs in the Vapor and Particulate Phases in Chongju

  • Four intensive seasonal sampling campaigns between October 1998 and October 1999 were undertaken at an urban site of Chongju, in which polyurethane foam (PUF) sampler was used to collect particulate- and vapor-phase polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The contribution to total (particulate+vapor) PAH concentration by the vapor phase component exceeded the particulate phase contribution by factor of ${\sim}2.6$. Summed concentrations of phenanthrene (30.9%), pyrene (16.6%), naphthalene (11.3%) and fluoranthene (11.0%) account for significant amounts of the vapor-phase, while chrysene (12.5%), benzo[b]fluoranthene (11.6%), indeno[123-cd]pyrene (9.9%), benzo[ghi]perylene (9.5%), benzo[k]fluoranthene (9.4%), pyrene (8.9%), and benzo[a]pyrene (8.3%) are found to be the most common PAH compounds in the particulate phase. The results from application of principal component analysis to particulate-phase PAH data demonstrate that a combination of PAH and $PM_{2.5}$ inorganic data is a more powerful tracer of emission sources than PAH species data alone. Particulate-phase PAH species were found to be associated predominantly with emissions from diesel engine vehicles and incineration.

An Integrated Approach in the Pest Management in Sericulture

  • The success of sericulture industry in India is mainly attributed to the well-planned annual sericultural activity and the systematic implementation of pest preventive and control measures. The insect spectrum of silkworm and its food plants is complex and plays a major role in limiting the production of silk. Insects cause extensive damage to plant whereas predators and parasites either kill the silkworm larvae or force them to spin flimsy cocoons. Unilateral control measure against this pest is mainly based on the use of synthetic organic insecticides. Though these approaches initially paid rich dividends, the undesirable consequences soon surfaced. Insecticide induced resurgence of gall midges, leafhopper, leaf roller, secondary pest out breaks and development of pest biotypes has led to realization of Integrated Pest Management in sericulture. Various components of IPM, viz. Host plant resistance, cultural practices, biological control, chemical control and integrating them at various technological levels have been studied. Sources of host plant resistance have been identified for some of the major insect pests. High yielding mulberry variety has been propagated and their resistances towards major pests have been recorded. Cultural practices like pruning, pollarding, judicious use of nitrogen, optimum spacing and weed management have preyed to be the powerful tools in containing pests. Natural control over the pest population build- up exerted by the wide range of parasitoids, predators and pathogens has been well documented with identification of natural enemies and studies on their potential. Augmentation, through inoculation or inundative releases of parasitic arthropods, is the most direct way of increasing the numbers of these beneficials in sericulture.

According to this purpose, we want to investigate that a concept of "Oriental Medicine" will be able to be Brand through the cosmetics. The Brand is emphasized the cultural value more than price and quality of the product. In case of "Oriental Medicine Cosmetics", above-mentioned fact is more important. Because "Oriental Medicine Cosmetics" is hard to divide into it's physical property and cultural character. What we want to comprehend through this investigation is, point out limitations of traditional marketing and the strategy of brand marketing which is possible to apply both the character and the history of "Oriental Medicine Cosmetics". Most important facts for this model, first, search for intermediately meanings for identification of "Oriental Medicine Cosmetics". Second, make a detailed plans after included the strategy of marketing communication at the inner part of cultural meanings. The Relationship of Self-leadership, Job Satisfaction, and Perceived Outcome in Nurses (간호사의 셀프리더십과 직무만족, 개인성과간의 관계)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship among self-leadership, job satisfaction, and perceived outcome in nurses. Method: The subjects of study were nurses as a population who were working for the 2 of university hospitals which have over 500 beds in Kyong Ki Province as well as who have been working for over 6 months. The data was collected by questionnaires from 217 nurses and analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression on SPSS 10. 0 version. Results: The degree of Self-leadership was 3.38 out of 5 as a mean point. There was a significant difference in self-leadership according to age, level of education, working department, and position. There was a significant positive correlation between self-relationship and job satisfaction, self-relationship and perceived outcome, and job satisfaction and perceived outcome. The stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor of job satisfaction and perceived outcome was constructive thinking. Conclusion: In conclusion, the result was obtained that self-leadership is much correlated with job-satisfaction of nurse and outcome of nursing practice. Therefore, as a way to promote efficiency of nursing organization, the constant study about self-leadership with the various aspects is needed focusing on self-management and inner motivation as a new leadership paradigm.
