Optimal design of Natural Fiber Composite Structure for Automobile

  • In this study, a optimal design on the hood automotive using eco-friendly natural fiber composites is performed. The hood of an automobile is determined by dividing the Inner panel shape through optimization phase to outer panel and inner panel. It was performed to optimize the size of the thickness of the inner panel and the outer panel by applying a flax/epoxy composite materials. The optimized shape was evaluated for weight-lightening, stability and the pedestrian collision safety. Through the resin flow analysis are confirmed to molding possibility judgment of product.

  • An axial flow fan design system has been made by integrating the self-developed programs and I-DEAS. By using the system, an axial flow fan was designed, manufactured and verified through the wind tunnel experiments in coorperation with a refrigerator appliance division. It has been shown that the optimal design without the ambiguity of the design parameters can be possible by the three-dimensional flow simulations using a self-developed CID code, FANS-3D. (Flow Analysis code using Navier Stokes aguations in Three-Dimensional curvilinear coordinates). By virtue of the fluency of the data flow, an optimally designed fan which satisfies design conditions can be selected in a short time and less cost. The manufacturing processes of a Mock-up and an injection molding die have been automated through the self-made interface programs which connnect from the start to the end. It has been shown that the newly developed fan by this system has a superior performance characteristics to an existing fan.

  • Piston crown to the hot forge a unified nature of the product has a shape with multi-level step forging process, so if you are not a mechanical process that can be a significant loss is material.   • For the mold die sticking mechanism, the major explanation is that EMC filler of silica wears die surface roughened, which results in increase of adhesion strength. As big differences in experimental results from semiconductor manufacturers are dependent on EMC models, however, chemisorptions or acid-base interaction is apt to be also functioning as major mechanisms. In this investigation, the plasma source ion implantation (PSII) using $O_2$, $N_2$, and $CF_4$ modifies sample surface to form a new dense layer and improve surface hardness, and change metal surface condition from hydrophilic to hydrophobic and vice versa. Through surface energy quantification by measuring contact angle and surface ion coupling state analysis by Auger, major governing mechanism for sticking issue was figured out to be a complex of mechanical and chemical factors.

  • 본 연구에서는 주어진 입출력 데이터에 신뢰도를 나타내는 소속함수 값이 붙여진 경우에 대하여 유효한 퍼지 신경망을 제안한다. 먼저, 퍼지수 연결강도와 퍼지수 임계치를 가진 퍼지 신경망의 구조를 나타낸다. 코스트 함수는 퍼지 신경망으로부터의 출력치와 소속함수 값을 가진 목표 출력치를 이용하여 정의되고, 퍼지 신경망의 학습 알고리즘은 정의된 코스트 함수로부터 도출된다. 마지막으로 도출된 학습 알고리즘을 이용하여 사출성형 품질의 목측 평가치 해석에 적용하고 그 유효성을 나타낸다.

  • The global consumption of aspheric surfaces will expand rapidly on the Electronics and Optical Components, Information and Communications, Aerospace and Defense, and Medical optics markets etc. We must research on market, technology forecast and analysis of aspheric surfaces that is a principle step of ultra precision machine technology with a base one of optical elements. Especially, F-theta lens is one of the important parts in LSU(Laser scanning unit) because it affects on the optical performance of LSU dominantly. The core is most of important to produce plastic F-theta lens by plastic injection molding method, which is necessary to get the ultra-precision aspheric and non-axisymmetric machine processing technology.

  • To investigate the flow related to the mixing, micro PIV measurements were performed in the middle plane of the channel. A passive micro mixer analyzed in this work has been designed in the shape of a three-dimensional microchannel and fabricated with PDMS molding process by KAIST. The mixing performance was evaluated for different flow rates using phenolphthalein and sodium hydroxide solutions. Results show that mixing is enhanced by the increase of flow rate, which yields stronger secondary flows with helical streamlines.

Plastic Pandemic caused by COVID-19; Based on Market Price of Recyclable Resources

  • Modern people live in the age of plastics. It has been widely used due to its easy molding processing, mass production, and excellent durability. However, over-produced plastics for convenience cause plastic disasters and adversely affect the ecosystem. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the use of single-use plastic waste due to the use of delivery services has increased. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a plastic pandemic. Currently, domestic recycling policies depend only on recycling collection companies and market prices of recyclable resources. This paper confirms whether the outbreak of COVID-19 has affected the price of plastic waste. It also shows that the price of plastic waste is more unstable than metals with a high recycling rate. This urges businesses to share the cost of recycling on plastic waste, no longer being dependent on market prices for recyclable resources.

  • Neurons-on-a-Chip technology has been developed to provide diverse in vitro neuro-tools to study neuritogenesis, synaptogensis, axon guidance, and network dynamics. The two core enabling technologies are soft-lithography and microelectrode array technology. Soft lithography technology made it possible to fabricate microstamps and microfluidic channel devices with a simple replica molding method in a biological laboratory and innovatively reduced the turn-around time from assay design to chip fabrication, facilitating various experimental designs. To control nerve cell behaviors at the single cell level via chemical cues, surface biofunctionalization methods and micropatterning techniques were developed. Microelectrode chip technology, which provides a functional readout by measuring the electrophysiological signals from individual neurons, has become a popular platform to investigate neural information processing in networks. Due to these key advances, it is possible to study the relationship between the network structure and functions, and they have opened a new era of neurobiology and will become standard tools in the near future.
