The pulp mold attract the increasing concern as recyclable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly packaging materials. In order to broaden the applicability of the pulp mold as substitutes of the expanded styrofoam, the properties of various raw materials for the pulp mold were evaluated and the way for improving water resistance properties of the pulp mold were also tested by applying some additives. The higher value in the fines contents and in the water retention value were shown for the TMP (thermomechanical pulp), which resulted in the bulkier pulp mold with the higher moisture absorption property. In case of water resistance properties, the pulp mold made of white ledger stock showed the higher value in water contact angle and very slow water absorption rate. The addition of oil palm EFB fiber showed the improvement in the water resistance of the pulp mold made of UBKP. The effects of various additives on the improvement in the water resistance properties of the pulp mold were tested by using AKD, PVAm, epoxy resin. The application of AKD leaded to the higher increase in the water resistance. The results in this study showed the effects of AKD for the pulp mold could be improved and optimized by the application with fixing agent and by the ageing treatment after production.
Objectives: Recent data indicate that sensitization to mold contributes to the severity and persistence of asthma. The aim of this study was to investigate relationships between indoor mold concentrations and pulmonary function parameters in asthmatic children with mold sensitization. Methods: Asthmatic subjects who had a positive result in skin-prick testing to more than one mold allergen, such as Alternaria, Aspergillus, or Penicillium, were enrolled. Their pulmonary function and methacholine challenge test results were collected. Measurements of blood eosinophil, serum IgE, and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) were taken. Indoor levels of VOC, CO2, PM10 and PM2.5 in each subject's house were measured. We counted mold and bacteria colonies from the subjects' house air samples. Results: The mean levels of FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC, and FEF25-75 were 82.8±19.7, 87.3±17.9, 85.8±8.3, and 82.3±28.9%, respectively. The mean FeNO level was 19.8±11.2 ppb and the geometric mean (range of one SD) of methacholine PC20 was 3.99 mg/mL (0.67-23.74 mg/mL). The average indoor air pollutant levels were below the recommended levels set by the Ministry of Environment for multiplex buildings. Indoor mold levels showed a significant inverse correlation with methacholine PC20, but not with the baseline pulmonary function parameters. Conclusion: Indoor mold concentrations are a risk factor for increased bronchial hyperresponsiveness among asthmatic children with mold sensitization. Targeted environmental intervention should be considered for selected asthmatic children with mold sensitization for avoiding severe airway hyperresponsiveness.
In this paper, when manufacturing large/multi-mold parts (more than 30 core parts),A mold manufacturing (tolerance) management system was established through design-processing linkage. The mold manufacturing (tolerance) management system is a design-based measurement shape/measurement position determination system, M/C processing-linked measurement drive system,It is composed of four parts: CAD-linked measurement result analysis system and manager mold part quality management system. In addition, the constructed system was applied to the field and the effect of system construction was evaluated by comparing it with the existing process. As a result of the evaluation, the measurement precision is within 0.02mm, and the time it takes to measure after the end of processing is shorter than that of the existing process.(12 hours → 2 hours) It was shortened to 16.7%.In addition, it was confirmed that the time required for reprocessing after measurement was reduced by 25% (4 hours → 1 hour) compared to the existing process.
Injection molding is a cyclic process comprising of cooling phase as the largest part of this cycle. Providing efficient cooling in lesser cycle times is of significant importance in the molding industry. Recently, lots of researches have been done for rapid cooling of a hot-spot area using CO2 in injection molding. The CO2 flows under high pressure through small, flexible capillary tubes to the point of use, where it expands to create a snow and gas mixture at a temperature of -79℃. The gaseous CO2 removes heat from the mold and releases it into the atmosphere. In this paper, a CO2 cooling module was applied to an injection mold in order to cool a large area cavity uniformly and quickly, and the cooling performance of the injection mold was investigated. The product was a high-curvature molded part with a molding area of 300x100mm. Heat cartridges were installed in a stationary mold, and CO2 cooling module was inserted inside a movable mold. Through structural analysis, it was confirmed that the maximum deformation of mold with CO2 cooling module was 0.09mm. A CO2 feed system with a heat exchanger was used for cooling experiments. The CO2 was injected into the holes on both sides of the supply pipe of the cooling module and discharged through hexagon blocks to cool the mold. It took 5.8 seconds to cool the mold from an average temperature of 140℃ to 70℃. Through the experiment using CO2 cooling module, it was found that a cooling rate of up to 12.98℃/s and an average of 10.18℃/s could be achieved.
In order to prevent shell sticking by providing sufficient lubrication between the strand and the mold, the mold oscillation has been used. Now it is well known that the shape of the oscillation curve has a decisive effect on the surface quality of the cast product. Besides, oscillation parameters such as stroke and frequency are also very important. In order to guarantee that parameters which have been found to be optimal for a certain grade of steel do not change with time, periodical checks of the physical condition of the whole equipment are necessary. The portable mold oscillation analyzer with integrated computer, developed by POSCO, records the movement of the mold in every spatial direction. The system uses the gap sensors to measure the mold movement (displacement ) in the two horizontal directions according to the mold narrow and broad faces and the vertical strokes in the four corners of mold. The gap sensor is a non-contacting minute displacement measuring device using the principle of high frequency eddy current loss. The mold oscillation diagnosis system integrates the gap sensors, their converters and the industrial portable computer with plug-in data acquisition boards. The all programs, such as the fast Fourier transformation module (amplitude and phase spectrums) and harmonic analysis module, was coded by LabVIEW$^{TM}$ software as the graphical language. In an own 'expert module' which is included in the diagnosis program, one can obtain much information about the mold oscillation equipment.
Painting process or coating with acrylic film may improve the surface defects of injection molded parts deteriorated by weldlines. flow marks. and etc. However such processes increase the production costs and increase environmental problems. Recently various types of rapid mold heating & cooling technology have been developed in order to improve surface quality of products. In this study. the heating & cooling performance of a telephone case mold is investigated by heat transfer analysis, in which the rapid mold heating & reeling technology is applied. The surface temperature of the mold was measured using thermal image camera and compared with analysis results. The influence of the rapid mold heating & cooling technology on weldline appearance and cycle time increase was also examined.
Decarburization phenomena of SM50C steel casted in ceramic mold was investigated. As result, decarburized depth increased by increased by increasing the volume-to-surface area ratio and mold temperature. And the relations between them is $y(cm)=(1.96{\times}10^{-5}T+0.0135)\;{\times}M-1.05{\times}10^{-5}T+9.73{\times}10^{-3}$. When mold is controlled by Ar ags, reducing atmosphere, decarburized depth is decreased. In case of adding graphite powder in the mold, decarburization is decreased more. Specially, when graphite powder is added on the mold materials and the wax is layed on the mold, decarburization is almost prevented.
As a rotating machine element, plastic gears are more and more widely used in such as industrial machine element, since plastic gear is lighter, higher wear-resistance, and higher vibration absorbing ability than metal gears. When operating plastic parts, tooth breakage and fatigue life shortened due to increasing number of applying load and tooth flank temperature rising, such that accuracy of plastic gears is divided from allowable range to cause vibration and noise. On this study, a internal plastic gears are developed which improved the filling balance molding process by a new injection mold structure. The new mold structure called HR3P(hot runner type 3plate mold). As the result from this studies, we obtained a very accurate roundness internal gears by using design of experiment.

Polymeric micro lens arrays with diameters of $13\~96\;{\mu}m$ fabricated using the micro-compression molding with electro formed mold inserts. In the present study, the electro forming process was used to make the metallic micro-mold insert for micro-molding of microlens array. The wettability property of the fabricated mold insert was examined by measuring the contact angle of the polymer melt on the mold insert. Microlenses were compression-molded with the fabricated mold insert. The effects of the molding temperature and wettability property on the replication quality of the molded lenses were analyzed experimentally.
The effect of a metal mold on densification behavior of stainless steel 316L powder was investigated under warm isostatic pressing with a metal mold. We use lead as a metal mold and obtain experimental data of metal mold properties. To simulate densification behavior of metal powder, elastoplastic constitutive equation proposed by Shima and Oyane was implemented into a finite element program (ABAQUS) under warm die pressing and warm isostatic pressing with a metal mold. Finite element results were compared with experimental data for densification and deformation of metal powder under warm isostatic pressing and warm die pressing.
