Effect of Chemical Modification of Carbon Supports on Electrochemical Activities for Pt-Ru Catalysts of Fuel Cells (탄소지지체의 화학적 변형에 따른 연료전지용 백금-루테늄 촉매의 전기화학적 활성의 영향)

  • In this work, ordered mesoporous carbons (OMCs) were prepared by the conventional templating method using mesoporous silica (SBA-15) for Pt-Ru catalyst supports in fuel cells. The influence of surface modification on carbon supports on the electrochemical activities of Pt-Ru/OMCs was investigated with different pH. The neutral-treated OMCs (N-OMCs), base-treated OMCs (B-OMCs), and acid-treated OMCs (A-OMCs) were prepared by treating OMCs with 2 M $C_6H_6$, 2 M KOH, and 2 M $H_3PO_4$, respectively. The surface characteristic of the carbon supports were determined X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical activities of the Pt-Ru catalysts had been enhanced when the OMCs supports were treated by basic or neutral agents, while the electrochemical activities had been decayed for the A-OMCs supported Pt-Ru.

The effect of the modification methods on the catalytic performance of activated carbon supported CuO-ZnO catalysts

  • Activated carbon (AC) was modified by ammonium persulphate or nitric acid, respectively. AC and the modified materials were used as catalyst supports. The oxygen groups were introduced in the supports during the modifications. All the supports were characterized by $N_2$-physisorption, Raman, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and thermogravimetric analysis. Methanol synthesis catalysts were prepared through wet impregnation of copper nitrate and zinc nitrate on the supports followed by thermal decomposition. These catalysts were measured by the means of $N_2$-physisorption, X-ray diffraction, XPS, temperature programmed reduction and TEM tests. The catalytic performances of the prepared catalysts were compared with a commercial catalyst (CZA) in this work. The results showed that the methanol production rate of AC-CZ ($23mmol-CH_3OH/(g-Cu{\cdot}h)$) was higher, on Cu loading basis, than that of CZA ($9mmol-CH_3OH/(g-Cu{\cdot}h)$). We also found that the modification methods produced strong metal-support interactions leading to poor catalytic performance. AC without any modification can prompt the catalytic performance of the resulted catalyst.

An efficient method to structural static reanalysis with deleting support constraints

  • Structural design is usually an optimization process. Numerous parameters such as the member shapes and sizes, the elasticity modulus of material, the locations of nodes and the support constraints can be selected as design variables. These variables are progressively revised in order to obtain a satisfactory structure. Each modification requires a fresh analysis for the displacements and stresses, and reanalysis can be employed to reduce the computational cost. This paper is focused on static reanalysis problem with modification of deleting some supports. An efficient reanalysis method is proposed. The method makes full use of the initial information and preserves the ease of implementation. Numerical examples show that the calculated results of the proposed method are the identical as those of the direct analysis, while the computational time is remarkably reduced.

Load Carrying Capacity Assessment of Bridges with Elastic Supports Application (탄성지점의 적용에 따른 교량의 내하력평가)

  • This study applied elastic supports in order to evaluate load carrying capacity using measurement data obtained from load tests actively and utilizing various evaluation methods. In order to confirm the adequacy of structural analysis based on elastic supports and to improve the reliability of experiment results, we conducted a deflection test with flexural beams prepared as overhanging beams and, based on the results, performed precision safety diagnosis for real bridges under public service for improving the load carrying capacity evaluation method for bridges under public service. In the results of the bending test, compared to deflection calculated by the existing method, deflection obtained by applying elastic supports was closer to the actually measured deflection. In the results of evaluating load carrying capacity for a 3 span continuous steel box girder bridge just after its completion, load carrying capacity by elastic supports was smaller by up to 39% than that by the existing method. When the load carrying capacity of bridges is evaluated by the existing method the results vary among engineers due to lack of guidelines for evaluation such as the application of stress modification factor. This study was conducted as an effort to solve this problem through active research.

  • The sensor network for the health care application service has the man or movable object as the main sensing object. In order to support inter-node interaction by the movement of such sensing objects, the node's dynamic function modification, dynamic self-configuration and energy efficiency must be considered. In this paper, the Agilla model which supports the dynamic function modification through the agent migration between nodes and LEACH protocol which guarantees the dynamic self-configuration and energy efficiency through the configuration of inter-node hierarchical cluster configuration are analyzed. Based on the results of the analysis, the Mobility Agent Middleware which supports the dynamic function modification between nodes is designed, and LEACH_Mobile protocol which guarantees the node nobility as the weakness of the existing LEACH protocol is suggested. Also, the routing module which supports the LEACH_Mobile protocol is designed and the interface for conjunction with Mobility Agent Middleware is designed. Then, it is definitely increase performance which un mobility node of transfer data rate through LEACH_Mobile protocol of simulation result.

A Study on Improvement of Safety & Quality Management Standard Based on Compression Tests of Steel Pipe Supports (강재 파이프서포트의 압축하중 시험에 따른 안전 및 품질관리 기준 개선에 관한 연구)

  • As of July 1, 2017, the method of quality management of construction equipment had been changed completely. In case of manufacturing and distributing pipe supports, the support length according to the safety certification standard shall be not more than 6 m and the compressive strength shall be not less than 40,000 N at the maximum height. However, the field tests for the quality control standard were usually performed at 3.5 m when the length of the pipe supports is 3.5 m to 4.0 m, and the compression strength was specified to be more than 35,300 N. This difference in the two standards can cause confusion in practice. In this study, the compression load of the pipe supports was tested and found to be more than 30% defective. Therefore, it is necessary to review the modification of the safety certification and quality standards to improve the standard requirements.

Bogie/Carbody Interface Bolster Development for the Installation of Active Suspensions and the Modification Operation Improvement of TTX Vehicle (TTX 차량의 능동 현가장치 설치 및 수정 작업 개선을 위한 대차/차체 인터페이스 볼스터 개발)

  • The carbody underframe of TTX vehicle should be modified a lot for the installation of new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody of TTX vehicle, because the carbody underframe is one body structure consisting of a center sill welded with a carbody bolster. Modification operation of the carbody takes a lot of time and cost, because the huge sized carbody structure should be moved to a machining apparatus and machined to guarantee the manufacture accuracy of new device installation brackets. For this reason, modification operation improvement is needed to install new devices more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This paper introduce the development of 'bogie/carbody interface bolster' that not only supports the carbody weight but also enables new devices to be installed more efficiently between the bogie and the carbody. This development has advantage to reduce working time and cost to install new devices such as an active suspension system between the bogie and the carbody by minimizing the modification of the carbody of TTX vehicle.

  • In this paper, we made software components reusable through syntax-analysis method, designed a Viewer for understanding component information, and retrieved similar components by using Enhanced SARM. Because SARM requires a lot of computation time, it was enhanced by reducing unnecessary activation value. Also GUI was designed for component-query relationship and Viewer represents hierarchy diagram of a retrieved component. This system supports facilities which can insert and delete components on diagram. For a component modification, this system supports a editor to rebuild class inheritance relationship. In this paper, SCRS (software components reuse system) is consisted of syntax-analysis method, component-query relationship interface, retrieval (Enhanced SARM), diagram viewer, reuse on diagram, and a editor.

  • Financial supports for housing for the disabled is limited since a certain amount of budget needs to be distributed for a number of disabled families. Therefore, it is important to fund renovation for the disabled effectively and properly. Financial and administrative supports for the renovation which intended to improve housing conditions in terms of accessibility (barrier free) and comfort needs to be implemented with larger outcome and smaller budget. The purpose of this study was to investigate various factor such as renovation cost and renovation elements, influence satisfaction of residents with disabilities. Participants of this study are limited to the recipients of financial supports for housing renovation and refurbishment from City of Seoul and Ministry of Heal and Welfare. A total of 155 cases were analyzed using post occupancy survey and analysis of project cost data. Overall, more cost were used for modification for housing condition improvement than the cost for removal of architectural barriers. Renovation cost differences were not apparent among the type and extent of an individual's disabilities. Instead existing housing type and physical condition for the housing affects cost for renovation more significantly. Overall the renovation cost is positively related to resident's satisfaction using regression analysis.
