  • In autumn 2000, the Korea Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) announced that Daejeon metropolitan city, Jeonju and Jeju were chosen to showcase deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems(ITS). The program called the Advanced Transportation Systems Model Deployment Initiatives makes a significant step in Intelligent Transportation Infrastructure (In) in Korea. The Initiative is poised to increase the performance and efficiency of the area's roadway and transportation systems to meet growth demand. Three citie's $\$$50 million Model Deployment Initiative project is poised to increase the performance and efficiency of the area's roadway and transportation systems to meet growth demand. The effort particularly focused on the traveler information systems that should raise the level of ITS awareness in Korea. In this paper, project management, funding, private investment, procedures and detailed review of ITS Model Deployment Initiatives are discussed.

  • This paper describes methodology verifying near-surface predictability of numerical weather prediction models against the surface synoptic weather station network (SYNOP) observation. As verification variables, temperature, wind, humidity-related variables, total cloud cover, and surface pressure are included in this tool. Quality controlled SYNOP observation through the pre-processing for data assimilation is used. To consider the difference of topographic height between observation and model grid points, vertical inter/extrapolation is applied for temperature, humidity, and surface pressure verification. This verification algorithm is applied for verifying medium-range forecasts by a global forecasting model developed by Korea Institute of Atmospheric Prediction Systems to measure the near-surface predictability of the model and to evaluate the capability of the developed verification tool. It is found that the verification of near-surface prediction against SYNOP observation shows consistency with verification of upper atmosphere against global radiosonde observation, suggesting reliability of those data and demonstrating importance of verification against in-situ measurement as well. Although verifying modeled total cloud cover with observation might have limitation due to the different definition between the model and observation, it is also capable to diagnose the relative bias of model predictability such as a regional reliability and diurnal evolution of the bias.

  • The purpose of this paper is to provide an abstracted meta-model for executing Capabilities Portfolio Management (CPM) effectively based on DoDAF2.0. The purpose of developing an architecture is for beneficial use of it. A good set of architectural artifacts facilitates the manipulation and use of them in meeting its usage objectives well. Systems engineering methodologies evolve to accommodate or to deal with enterprise or SoS/FoS level problems. And DoD's Capabilities Portfolio Management (CPM) is a good example which demonstrates enterprise or SoS level problems. However, the complexity of the architecture framework makes it difficult to develop and use the architecture models and their associated artifacts. DoDAF states that it was established to guide the development of architectures and to satisfy the demands of a structured, repeatable method for evaluating alternatives which add value to decisions and management practices. One of the objectives of DoDAF2.0 is to define concepts and models usable in CPM which is one of DoD's six core processes. However, DoDAF and various guidelines state requirements for CPM rather than how to. This paper provides methodology for CPM which includes process and tailored meta-models based on DoDAF Meta Model (DM2).

  • As the embedded systems closely related with our living become complex by interoperating each other via internet, the safety issue of embedded systems begins to appear For checking safety properties of the system interactions, it is necessary to describe the system behaviors in formal methods and provide a systematic safety analysis technique. In this research, the behaviors of an embedded system are described by Labeled Transition Systems(LTS) and its safety properties are checked on the system model. For enhancing the existing compositional safety analysis technique, we perform the safety analysis techniques by checking the behavioral equivalence of the reduced model and a property model after reducing the system model in the viewpoint of the property.

  • Software measurement is a key factor in managing, controlling, and improving the software development processes. Software quality is one of the most important factors for assessing the global competitive position of any software company. Thus the quantification of quality parameters and integrating them into quality models is very essential. Software quality criteria are not very easily measured and quantified. Many attempts have been made to exactly quantify the software quality parameters using various models such as ISO/IEC 9126 Quality Model, Boehm's Model, McCall's model, etc. In this paper an attempt has been made to provide a tool for precisely quantifying software quality factors with the help of quality factors stated in ISO/IEC 9126 model. Due to the unpredictable nature of the software quality attributes, the fuzzy multi criteria approach has been used to evolve the quality of the software.

  • Intra-molecular association is an important contribution to the overall hydrogen bonding in surfactant systems, especially in systems of colloidal and biological interest. Amphiphile systems, especially micelle and microemulsion systems, showed highly non-ideal behavior due to the intermolecular association and intra-molecular association. The objective of this research is to present a lattice fluid equation of state that combines the quasi-chemical nonrandom lattice fluid model with modified Veytsman statistics for intra + inter molecular association to calculate phase behavior for mixture containing surfactant systems. The lattice model could describe the literature data well for alkane and surfactant systems.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the antioxidative effect of kimchi on the lipid oxidation of cooked meat in model systems. Four model systems of cooked ground meat(CGM). CGM-water(W), CGM-brine(B) and CGM-kimchi(K) were prepared and their oxidation behaviours were evaluated during the storage at 4$^{\circ}C$ for 5 weeks. Thiobarbituric acid values and peroxide values of the systems of CGM, CGM-B and CGM-W increased significantly with the storage time, however, those values of CGM-K were hardly changed during the time of 5 weeks storage. Antioxidative effect of CGM-K increased with the addition level of kimchi in system. And also in the model systems which were prepared with cooked ground meat and kimchi whose fermentation period is different, the antioxidative effect of well ripened and properly fermented kimchi was higher than that of unripened kimchi during the lipid oxidation process of model systems. These results suggested that kimchi especially the properly femented kimchi in the systems plays an important roles as an antioxidative activity on the lipid oxidation of cooked ground meat.

  • The warfighting experimentation is the most important for the weapon acquisition process because the warfighting experimentation shall support the operation effectiveness as well as acquisition logicality. Therefore, ROK Navy is starting to set up the next generation warfighting experimentation systems. According to literature studies, there have been many studies regarding the interoperability of Simulators(Virtual) and Exercising models(Constructive), but not for studies regarding interoperability between Simulators(Virtual) and Analysis models(Constructive) that is the core component of next generation maritime warfighting experimentation systems. This study is dealing with the V-C(Analysis model) interoperability test and methodology of interoperation analysis. The purpose of the study is to provide the new analysis methodology through V-C(Analysis model) interoperation, which can be applied for the concept of operations(CONOPS) of next generation maritime warfighting experimentation systems. In addition to that, the study validates the suggested analysis methodology by the case study of a naval operation.

  • We study Interpreted Systems, ATL, and ATEL to capture the notion of time, knowledge, and strategy which are important in the analysis of multi-agent systems and propose strategic constraints based on subgame perfect Nash equilibrium of game theory as one of the solutions for the issues of ATEL which an agent can access the current state of the whole system when making up his strategy even when he should be uncertain about the state, and no explicit representation of actions in ATEL models makes some natural situations harder to model. Also, we present strategic constraints-based Interpreted Systems for model checking of multi-agent systems.

  • Recently, the LISI(Level of Information System Interoperability) model has been used to measure level of interoperability in the Ministry of National Defense. This study is proposed for improvement of interoperability level measurement method. The MND has been devoting a lot of effort to ensure defense weapon system interoperability. They enacted related regulations and developed SITES for measuring the level of interoperability. However, the LISI model has problems with using just only DITA and applying MND-AF based on Architecture development. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes how to apply reference model to LISI Model and how to apply LISI Model to MND-AF architecture development.
