This paper presents the results of centrifuge model tests on the reinforced slope by pressure grouting. Tests were performed to investigate the reinforcing effect of grouting. In the tests, slopes of scale factor 1/10 were used changing the space and number of reinforcing bar. Test results are as tile follows; 1. The reinforcing effect increase rapidly with reinforcement area ratio at low value of reinforcement area ratio. 2. At high reinforcement area ratio the increase ratio of reinforcing effect decrease. 3. At same reinforcement area ratio, the reinforcing effect of double reinforcing bar was larger than the single reinforcing bar due to arching effect.
The frontal crash optimization of S-shaped closed-hat section member using the homogenization method, design of experiment (DOE) and response surface method (RSM) was studied. The optimization to effectively absorb more crash energy was studied to introduce the reinforcement design. The main focus of design was to decide the optimum size and thickness of reinforcement. In this study, the location of reinforcement was decided by homogenization method. Also, the effective size and thickness of reinforcements was studied by design of experiments and response surface method. The effects of various impact velocity for reinforcement design were researched. The high impact velocity reinforcement design showed to absorb the more crash energy than low velocities design. The effect of size and thickness of reinforcement was studied and the sensitivity of size and thickness was different according to base thickness of model. The optimum size and thickness of the reinforcement has shown a direct proportion to the thickness of base model. Also, the thicker the base model was, the effect of optimization using reinforcement was the bigger. The trend curve for effective size and thickness of reinforcement using response surface method was obtained. The predicted size and thickness of reinforcement by RSM were compared with results of DOE. The results of a specific dynamic mean crushing loads for the predicted design by RSM were shown the small difference with the predicted results by RSM and DOE. These trend curves can be used as a basic guideline to find the optimum reinforcement design for S-shaped member.
Korea and Japan have done a lot of research on composite girders with corrugated steel webs and built many bridges with corrugated steel webs due to the significant advantages of this type of bridges. Considering the demanding on the calculation method of such types of bridges and lack of relevant reinforcement design method, this paper proposes the spatial grid analysis theory and tensile stress region method. First, the accuracy and applicability of spatial grid model in analyzing composite girders with corrugated steel webs was validated by the comparison with models using shell and solid elements. Then, in a real engineering practice, the reinforcement designs from tensile stress region method based on spatial grid model, design empirical method and specification method are compared. The results show that the tensile stress region reinforcement design method can realize the inplane and out-of-plane reinforcement design in the top and bottom slabs in bridges with corrugated steel webs. The economy and precision of reinforcement design using the tensile stress region method is emphasized. Therefore, the tensile stress region reinforcement design method based on the spatial grid model can provide a new direction for the refined design of composite box girder with corrugated steel webs.
In this study, the behavior of the number of anchorage bolts on the glass-fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates adhered to the surfaces of reinforcing concrete (RC) T-beams was investigated analytically. The analytical results were compared to the test results in term of shear strength, and midpoint displacement of the beam. The modelling of the beams was conducted in ABAQUS/CAE finite element software. The Concrete Damaged Plasticity (CDP) model was used for concrete material modeling, and Classical Metal Plasticity (CMP) model was used for reinforcement material modelling. Model-1 was the reference specimen with enough sufficient shear reinforcement, and Model-2 was the reference specimen having low shear reinforcement. Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 were the specimens with lower shear reinforcement. These models consist of a single variable which was the number of anchorage bolts implemented to the GFRP plates. The anchorage bolts of 2, 3, and 4 were mutually mounted on each GFRP plates through the beam surfaces for Model-3, Model-4, and Model-5, respectively. It was found that Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5 provided results approximately equal to the test results. The results show that the shear strength of the beams increased with increasing of anchorage numbers. While close results were obtained for Model-1, Model-3, Model-4 and Model-5, in Model-2, the rate of increase of displacement was higher than the increase of load rate. It was seen, finite element based ABAQUS program is inadequate in the modeling of the reinforced concrete specimens under shear force.
Reinforced soil structures may experience large local movements between soil and reinforcement. The failure modes of a reinforced structure depend on several factors which are governed by deformation and slipping of the reinforcement. In some cases, pulling out of the reinforcement may occur instead of rupturing, The growing use of geosynthetic liner system for storage of solid and liquid wastes has led to a number of slope instability problems where the synthetic liner may undergo a large amount of stretching and slipping as a result of the loading. The conventional finite element model for the soil-reinforcement interface uses a zero thickness joint element with normal and shear stiffnesses and can only accommodate a small amount of deformation. When a large slippage occurs, the model provides an i ncorrect mechanism for deformation. This paper presents a new interface finite element model which is able to simulate a large amount of slippage between soil and reinforcement. The formulation of the model is presented and the capability of the model is demonstrated using illustrative examples.
The structural response and performance of a flexible pavement can be improved through the use of geogrids as base course reinforcement. Current ongoing research at the University of illinois has focused on the development of a geogrid base reinforcement mechanistic model for the analysis of reinforced pavements. This model is based on the finite element methodology and considers not only the nonlinear stress-dependent pavement foundation but also the isotropic and anisotropic behavior of base/subbase aggregates for predicting pavement critical responses. An axisymmetric finite element model was developed to employ a three-noded axisymmetric membrane element for modeling geogrid reinforcement. The soil/aggregate-geogrid interface was modeled by the three-noded membrane element and the neighboring six-noded no thickness interface elements. To validate the developed mechanistic model, the commercial finite element program $ABAQUS^{TM}$ was used to generate pavement responses as analysis results for simple cases with similar linear elastic material input properties. More sophisticated cases were then analyzed using the mechanistic model considering the nonlinear and anisotropic modulus property inputs in the base/subbase granular layers. This paper will describe the details of the developed mechanistic model and the effectiveness of geogrid reinforcement when used in different quality unbound aggregate base/subbase layers.
An important issue in Multiagent reinforcement learning is how an agent should learn its optimal policy in a dynamic environment where there exist other agents able to influence its own performance. Most previous works for Multiagent reinforcement learning tend to apply single-agent reinforcement learning techniques without any extensions or require some unrealistic assumptions even though they use explicit models of other agents. In this paper, a Naive Bayesian based policy model of the opponent agent is introduced and then the Multiagent reinforcement learning method using this model is explained. Unlike previous works, the proposed Multiagent reinforcement learning method utilizes the Naive Bayesian based policy model, not the Q function model of the opponent agent. Moreover, this learning method can improve learning efficiency by using a simpler one than other richer but time-consuming policy models such as Finite State Machines(FSM) and Markov chains. In this paper, the Cat and Mouse game is introduced as an adversarial Multiagent environment. And then effectiveness of the proposed Naive Bayesian based policy model is analyzed through experiments using this game as test-bed.

Of the 17,106 domestic reservoirs(as of December 2020), 14,611 are older than 50 years, and these old reservoirs will gradually increase over time. The injection grouting method is most applied to the reinforcement method of the aging reservoir. However, the injection grouting method is not accurate in uniformity and reinforced area. An laboratory model test was conducted to evaluate the applicability of the deep mixing method, which compensated for these shortcomings, as a reservoir reinforcement method. As a result of calculating the hydraulic conductiveity for each method through the model test results, the injection grouting method was calculated as a hydraulic conductiveity value that was about 7.5 times larger than that of the deep mixing method. As a result of measuring the water level change in the laboratory model test, it was found that the water level change decreased in the injection method and deep mixing method compared to the non-reinforcement method. In addition, deep mixing method showed a water level change of about 15% based on 40 hours compared to the injection method, indicating that the water-reducing effect was superior to that of the injection method.

This study presents the slope stability analysis results for the model slope test. The model slope was made of the soil reinforced by FPF(Fibrillated Polyprophylene Fiber). The shear strength properties of the soil reinforced by FPF fibers were evaluated through the direct shear tests. The model slope 1:1 and 1:1.5 were made and the load tests were performed. Back analysis using limit equilibrium method was carried out to evaluate the shear strength increase on the FPF reinforced slope. The factor of safety of the FPF reinforce slope increased about 23% over unreinforced slope.
In this study, a large laboratory model experiment was conducted with the aim of developing an embankment reinforcement method to prevent overtopping, which is the main cause for the failure of agricultural reservoirs. The model experiment was carried out with concrete and asphalt as a permanent reinforcement method and with geomembrane as the emergency method at a deteriorated homogeneous reservoir. Under the non-reinforced conditions, the pattern of the failure appeared in several scour directions from the downstream slope as the overtopping began, and the width and depth of the erosion were magnified as it gradually moved to the dam crest. Under the conditions reinforced with asphalt and concrete, the overtopping was stabilized. In the case of the concrete reinforcement, it was found that the slope of the riprap boundary exhibited downward erosion by the current; thus, it was necessary to construct an extension up to the riprap joint of the upstream and downstream sides to prevent the expansion of the failure. Under the conditions reinforced with the geomembrane sheet, the overtopping was stabilized, and no seepage was found that required the emergency reinforcement method. Asphalt, concrete, and geomembrane sheet reinforcements have been shown to be capable of delaying failure for about 1 hour and 40 minutes compared to the non-reinforcement conditions. The reinforcement method is considered to be a very effective method to prevent disasters during overtopping. The pore water pressure can be used as useful data to predict the risk of failure at an embankment.
