  • In this paper, we develop a mobile MAP open API using HTML5 local storage and the W3C geolocation API. The mobile MAP open API consists of the basic JavaScript MAP API, offline navigation API, and multimedia POI (mPOI) API. The basic JavaScript MAP API creates a map and controls, rotates, and overlays data on the map. The offline navigation API is developed using HTML5 local storage and web storage. The mobile web application downloads and stores mPOIs of works of art to local storage or web storage from a web server. The mPOI API is developed using HTML5 video and audio APIs. We develop a mobile art park guidance application using the developed mobile MAP open API.

  • Mobile devices, such as PDAs, portable multimedia players, are more likely to encompass large storage devices with prevalance of high-quality multimedia contents. This paper proposes an object-based multimedia contents storage architecture that employs the object-based storage device model and the iSCSI protocol. It also provides a multimedia content player that operates directly with the proposed storage architecture. We implement both the proposed storage architecture and the multimedia content player upon the Linux environment. Performance evaluation by playing MP3 multimedia contents reveals that the proposed storage architecture reduces the total power consumption by 9%, compared with an existing networked storage. This enhancement is mainly contributed to the fact that a large portion of the file system is moved into the object-based multimedia contents storage from the mobile device.

  • The proposed internet disk for mobile devices is a new technique in order for mobile devices to recognize remote storage spaces as local storage card. The proposed technique is not to upload and download data of remote sites. It virtualizes remote storage space as local storage of mobile devices. Then mobile users can use the virtualized storage space as their local storage card. Also the remote storage space can be virtualized to desktop as local hard disk. It is possible to share data between mobile devices and desktop through the proposed internet disk.

  • Cloud storage services are used for efficient sharing or synchronizing of user's data across multiple mobile devices. Although cloud storages provide flexibility and scalability in storing data, security issues should be handled. Currently, typical cloud storage services offer data encryption for security purpose but we think such method is not secure enough because managing encryption keys by software and identifying users by simple ID and password are main defectives of current cloud storage services. We propose a secure data access method to cloud storage in mobile environment. Our framework supports hardware-based key management, attestation on the client software integrity, and secure key sharing across the multiple devices. We implemented our prototype using ARM TrustZone and TPM Emulator which is running on secure world of the TrustZone environment.

  • In recent years, the demand of mobile device, such as digital camera, camcoder and PDA, increases remarkably. So, requirements of the mobile information data storage used in the mobile devices increase noticeably also. 1" micro storage is a kind of mobile storage, which has a CF type II form factor, and the similar structure of the general 3.5" HDD. In this paper, we performed the vibration analysis and experimental study of disk-spindle system in 1 " micro storage, such as measurement of the NRRO of the disk, and modal analysis. (omitted)

  • In this paper, we propose a dynamic load distribution technique at the operating system level in mobile storage systems with a heterogeneous storage pair of a small form-factor and disk and a flash memory, which aims at saving energy consumption as well as enhancing I/O performance. Our proposed technique takes a combinatory approach of file placement and buffer cache management techniques to find how the load can be distributed in an energy and performance-aware way for a heterogeneous mobile storage air of a hard disk and a flash memory. We demonstrate that the proposed technique provides better experimental results with heterogeneous mobile storage devices compared with the existing techniques through extensive simulations.

  • IPv6 is the internet protocol for next generation which can solve the problem of IPv4 protocol. Mobile IPv6 efficiently provides the mobility for mobile devices holding the properties of IPv6. iSCSI(Internet Small Computer System Interface) is a block-oriented storage access protocol that enables a user to recognize a remote storage as their own local block device through general TCP/IP networks. Since iSCSI uses a standard Ethernet switch and router for this kind of access, it can not only be applized to Ethernet technologies, but can also be used to create a storage networking system without any distance restrictions that can equally be applied to a wireless network environment. Accordingly, this paper presents an alternative approach to overcome the limited storage space of mobile devices based on the IPv6 iSCSI initiator driver which was originally designed for wired networks. Also, this paper describes about the implementation and performance analysis of mobile education service system using virtual storage devices in IPv6 wireless networks.

  • Storage drives for mobile devices, such as laptop computers or PDAs, are changing now. The data density of storage drives is becoming higher and sizes of those are becoming smaller and thinner. Spindle motors for rotating disk are also becoming smaller and thinner. But, large torque is required to reduce seek time. In this research, inner rotor type spindle motor suitable for thin thickness has been developed. Rotor and stator are optimized structurally for large torque performance with small size. Especially, high vibration and shock performances, which are essential to mobile devices, are analyzed in detail.

  • Performance of the mobile devices greatly depends on the efficient resource management because they are usually resource-restricted. In particular, the dynamic storage allocation algorithms very important part of the mobile device's operating system and OS-like software platform. The existing dynamic storage allocation algorithms did not consider application's execution style and the type, life-time, and characteristics of memory objects that the application uses. Those algorithms, as a result, could not manage memory efficiently Therefore, this Paper analyzes the mobile application's execution characteristics and proposes anew dynamic storage allocation algorithm which saves the memory space and improves mobile application's execution speed. The test result shows that the proposed algorithm works 6.5 times faster than the linked-list algorithm[11], 2.5 times faster better than the Doug. Lea's algorithm[12] and 10.5 times faster than the Brent algorithm[14].
