  • In this paper, we propose a connected car platform architecture called Mobile Second for developing of verity convergence services. A Mobile Second platform architecture is designed to provide more powerful and diverse convergence services for vehicles and drivers by applying technologies of Connected Car and ICT Convergence in various ways. The Mobile Second platform is implemented by applying Tizen IVI and Android to hardware platforms for IVI, Nexcom's VTC1010 and Freescale's i.MX6q/dl respectively. The Mobile Second platform provides the driver with the vehicle's information via IVI devices, mobile devices and PCs, etc., and provides Vehicle Selective Gateway(VSG) and Vehicle Control Framework for the driver to control his/her vehicle, and also provides a web framework to enable the use of VSG's APIs for the monitoring and controlling the vehicle information in various mobile environments as well as IVI devices. Since the Mobile Second platform aims to create new variety of services for Connected Car, it includes service frameworks for Smart Care / Self diagonostics, Mood & Entertainment services, and Runtime, libraries and APIs needed for the development of related applications. The libraries given by the Mobile Second Platform provides both a native library for native application support and a Java Script-based library for web application support, minimizing the dependency on the platform and contributing the convenience of developers at the same time.

  • Ubiquitous web services have been expanding in various business areas with the evolution of wireless Internet technologies, accessible and usable with a variety of mobile Internet devices such as smart phones. Ubiquitous mobile-web information services can be evaluated for accessibility and usability with the mobile Internet devices interacting with mobile-web information servers. In human mobile-web activity, a web server could be a unified center for mobile-web interaction services as well as for real-time estimation and analysis of mobile-web interaction sessions. We present a real-time estimation and analysis scheme for time-based accessibility and usability in ubiquitous mobile-web services. With real-time estimation/analysis of sessions in a mobile-web server, we estimated the time-based accessibility and usability for comparison between different web services as well as for applications in mobile cloud computing services. We present empirical results based on the implementation of the real-time estimation/analysis scheme.

  • In this paper, we implemented the monitoring and control of geothermal heating and cooling system using mobile devices. The main idea of this system is to provide the convenience if the system can be controled in remote place with monitoring using the mobile devices like PDA. Basically, the system consists of the Server-Client structure divided into two parts, one is PDA and PC, the other is PC and PLC(Programmable Logic Controller). The PDA, which is equipped with Windows CE as as, monitors the status of the devices (motors and sensors, etc) attached to PLC and controls them. This does the system to be controled by the commands, which we assume to control, with wireless transmission between PC and PLC. The PDA parts are responsible for monitoring and control the devices connected to the PLC, and the PC part which equipped with the application is to provide the relation between PDA and PLC. The Ladder Program is used to control the sequences of the PLC..

  • A software platform for the next-generation, smart user-interface of mobile devices is described as in this paper. The proposed platform is developed to adapt new devices that may appear in the future through extending the Android platform. Dynamic loading function of software module is developed in order to download and install new software modules for the new devices. Also, platform technology for utilizing external devices to improve quality of service and dynamic switching of wireless interface to reduce power consumption of platform are developed.

  • In this paper, we introduce our experience of the design and implementation of mobile collaboration system(MCS) that support people using mobile devices to participate in cooperative session. There are considerable differences between desktop PC and mobile devices like PDA in processing ability, resolution of display and color degree. In the case of mobile devices, they use different processors and different operating system and they have even differences in ability of executing application. The mobile collaborative system based on T.120 protocol of ITU-T standard compromised of mobile collaboration server, mobile collaboration client, session node and application. We also define the session node in desktop PC in which session control block and communication block runs. This node provide functions of session control block and communication block to mobile collaboration clients and so lighten load of clients. The mobile collaboration server provides information of candidates for session node, session and user to mobile collaboration client. And this server support clients to configure their own session node and manage sessions. Only the mobile collaboration client module and applications including APE are executed in a mobile device when user using mobile devices would like to participate in cooperative session. We implemented mobile collaboration client and applications with JAVA to support platform independency.

  • Development of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet PC and increased usage for mobile contents make researches of mobile computer graphics noticeable. However, previous non-photorealistic renderings such as an ink-and-wash painting with thin colors are almost designed for desktop platform and not well-matched for mobile devices. In the result, mobile-specific rendering techniques are needed to create 3D mobile contents with non-photorealistic graphics. We introduce processing techniques that are especially ink-and-wash painting and oriental thin coloring in mobile devices. Through the result of this paper, it is expected that various 3D mobile contents with non-photorealistic styles are made. Proposed work also can allow mobile devices render it in realtime using proposed preprocessing techniques and rendering pipelines.

  • In this paper, we analyze trends in the use of mobile forensic technology, focusing on cases where mobile forensics are used, and we predict the development of future mobile forensics technology using linear regression used in future prediction models. For the current status and outlook analysis, we extracted a total of 8 variables by analyzing 1,397 domestic and foreign mobile forensics-related cases and newspaper articles. We analyzed the prospects for each variable using the year of occurrence as an independent variable, seven variables such as text (text message usage information), communication information (cell phone communication information), Internet usage information, messenger usage information, stored files, GPS, and others as dependent variables. As a result of the analysis, among various aspects of the use of mobile devices, the use of Internet usage information, messenger usage information, and data stored in mobile devices is expected to increase. Therefore, it is expected that continuous research on technologies that can effectively extract and analyze characteristic information of mobile devices such as file systems, the Internet, and messengers will be needed As mobile devices increase performance and utilization in the future and security technology.

  • This paper addresses a haptic actuator which can be applied to mobile devices. For haptic feedback in mobile devices, we have to consider not only stimulating force and frequency but also the size and the power consumption of a haptic module. Thus far, vibration motors have been widely used in mobile devices to provide tactile sensation. The reason is that a vibration motor is small enough to be inserted into a mobile device. This paper addresses vibrotactile actuators and other haptic actuators which can generate a wide variety of tactile sensations.

  • In this work, we present the novel scheduling algorithm of the multimedia data retrieval for the mobile disk drive. Our algorithm is focused on minimizing the power consumption involved in data retrieval from the local disk drive. The prime commodity in mobile devices is the electricity. Strict restriction on power consumption requirement of the mobile device put unique demand in designing of its hardware and software components. State of the art disk based storage subsystem becomes small enough to be embedded in handhold devices. It delivers abundant storage capacity and portability. However, it is never be trivial to integrate small hard disk or optical disk drive in handhold devices due to its excessive power consumption. Our algorithm ARM in this article generates the optimal schedule of retrieving data blocks from the mobile disk drive while guaranteeing continuous playback of multimedia data.
