For electrolysis process using an insoluble electrode, electrochemical performance was greatly affected by the manufacturing method and procedure, such as the firing temperature, pre-treatment, type of precursor solution, coating method, electrode material, etc. Components of the electrode therein is one of the most important factors in electrochemical reaction. To achieve such characteristics, a appropriate ratio of the electrode material should be carefully chosen. The aim of this research was to apply experimental design method in the optimization of electrode component for the maximum generation of oxidants in electrochemical oxidation process. Mixture design, especially expanded simplex lattice design, in DOME (design of mixture experiments) with Design Expert - commercial software - was used to analyze the data. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed a high coefficient of determination ($R^2$) value of 0.9470, thus ensuring a satisfactory adjustment of the $3^{rd}$ order special cubic regression model with the experimental data. The application of response surface methodology (RSM) yielded the following regression equation, which is an empirical relationship between the TRO generation concentration and independent variables(mol ratio of 3 electrode components) in a real unit: TRO generation concentration $(mg/L)=TRO\;conc.=98.25{\times}[Ir]+49.71{\times}[Sn]+95.29{\times}[Sb]-16.91{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sn]-29.47{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sb]-22.65{\times}[Sn]{\times}[Sb]+703.19{\times}[Ir]{\times}[Sn]{\times}[Sb]$. The optimized formulation of the 3 component electrode for an high TRO (total residual oxidants) generation was acquired at mol ratio of Ir 0.406, Sn 0.210, Sb 0.384 (desirability d value, 1).
Secondary batteries with high performance are essential in widespread use of modern portable devices such as cellular phones and laptop computers. High energy density, long cycle life, and safety are some of important requirements for secondary battery. To achieve such characteristics, a mixing proportion of electrolyte solution ingredients in the battery should be carefully chosen. In this paper, using statistical design of mixture experiments (DOME), we attempt to find an optimum condition of designing the secondary battery. DOME has a distinct feature in that the experimental region is represented by simplex, rather than hypercube, because the sum of blend proportions should be unity. Several designs based upon this point have been proposed for mixture experiments. Among them, an extreme vertices design is employed in this paper because there are a couple of blend constraints to be considered. In order to investigate how the mixing proportion interacts with other manufacturing factors, a fractional factorial design is also included across the extreme vertices design. As a result, we find that the blend proportion of solution ingredients has a significant effect on battery performances. By simultaneously optimizing two battery capacities, this paper proposes an optimum blend proportion according to process factor settings.
The main goal of this study was to find an optimal surfactant mixture composition for the development of the best performing cleansing products. Three different surfactants including sodium cocoyl alaninate (SCoA), cocamidopropyl betaine (CPB), and decyl glucoside (DG) were selected, which showed excellent properties in detergency, foaming height, and contamination rate through preliminary experiments. The experiments by simplex centroid design matrix for surfactant mixtures were performed, and the regression analysis was conducted with the experimental data. Surface response model equations, which is statistically significant (p < 0.05), were obtained. The optimal composition of the surfactant mixture was also determined as SCoA (0.22), CPB (0.78), and DG(0.00) from simultaneous optimization of three response variables.
Design criterion for the size of micro Pt-catalytic combustor is investigated in terms of heat release rate. One-dimensional plug flow model is applied to determine the surface reaction constants using the experimental data at stoichiometric butane-air mixture. With these reaction constants, the mass fraction of butane and heat release rate predicted by the plug flow model are in good agreement with the experimental data at the combustor exit. The relationship between the size of micro catalytic combustor and mixture flowrate is introduced in the form of product of two terms-the effect of fuel conversion efficiency, and the effect of chemical reaction rate and mass transfer rate.
Recently some efforts have been performed to combine the advantages of light-weight and self-compacting concrete in one package called Light-Weight Self-Compacting Concrete (LWSCC). Accurate prediction of hardened properties from fresh state characteristics is vital in design of concrete structures. Considering the lack of references in mixture design of LWSCC, investigating the proper mixture components and their effects on mechanical properties of LWSCC can lead to a reliable basis for its application in construction industry. This study utilizes wide range of existing data of LWSCC mixtures to study the individual and combined effects of the components on the compressive strength. From sensitivity of compressive strength to the proportions and interaction of the components, two equations are proposed to estimate the LWSCC compressive strength. Predicted values of the equations are in good agreement with the experimental data. Application of lightweight aggregate to reduce the density of LWSCC may bring some mixing problems like segregation. Reaching a higher strength by lowered density is a challenging problem that is investigated as well. The results show that, the compressive strength can be improved by increasing the of mixture density of LWSCC, especially in the range of density under $2000Kg/m^3$.
Maximalism is the code which has a power to interpret a fashion phenomenon expressed complexly and variously in the multicultural society. In the 21st century, maximalism which reappeared is not the expression by a method only. It is presenting the experimental design for the new pursuit through the mixture such as expansion, splendor, variety, decoration, distortion of configuration or transformation, and composition. Therefore, this study aims at analyzing expression of fashion design by four types(expansion, decoration, mixture, non-structure) materializing a feature of maximalism expressed in the domestic and foreign collection works from 2005 to 2010. The research results are as follows. 1. Expansion: It was showed artificial, formative, unique, and odd teatures through the expansion of the upper half of the body, the lower half of the body, and both of them. 2. Decoration: It was showed the actual decoration considering functionality and practicality and the decoration emphasizing and unique character and featuring domination and emphasis. 3. Mixture: It was showed through the mixture of the contrary textiles or the different sex image. 4. Non-structure: It showed the non-structure of the avant-garde trend and non-structure through decoration, detail, adjustment direction of a dress.

Quality design methodologies have received constituent attention from a number of researchers and practitioners for more than twenty years. Specially, the quality design for drug products must be carefully considered because of the hazards involved in the pharmaceutical industry. Conventional pharmaceutical formulation design problems with mixture experiments have been typically studied under the assumption of an unconstrained experimental region with a single quality characteristic. However, real-world pharmaceutical industrial situations have many physical limitations. We are often faced with multiple quality characteristics with constrained experimental regions. ln order to address these issues, the main objective of this paper is to propose a robust desirability function (RDF) model using a desirability function (DF) and mean square error (MSE) to simultaneously consider a number of multiple quality characteristics. This paper then present L-pseudocomponents and U-pseudocomponents to handle physical constraints. Finally, a numerical example shows that the proposed RDF can efficiently be applied to a pharmaceutical process design.

Mixture design of self-compacting concrete is a typical multi-criteria decision making problem and conventional mixture designs are based on the low level engineering method like trials and errors through iteration method to satisfy the various requirements. This study concerns with performing the straightforward multiobjective design optimization of economic SCC mixture considering relative importances of the various requirements and cost-effectives of SCC. Total five requirements of 28day compressive strength, filling ability, segregation stability, material cost and mass were taken into consideration to prepare the objective function to be formulated in form of the weighted-multiobjective mixture design optimization problem. Economic SCC mixture computational design can be given in a rational way which considering material costs and the relative importances of the requiremets and from the result of this study it is expected that the development of SCC mixtue computational design and the consequent univeral concrete material design optimization methodology can be advanced.
Warm-Mix Asphalt(WMA) mixtures, which meet environmental protection and have high energy efficiency, are emerging as an alternative to hot-mix asphalt mixtures. The objective of this study is to evaluate WMA made with Aspha-min in the laboratory and to compare the design results accomplished by new Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide(MEPDG) with control mixture. An asphalt mixture with a nominal maximum size of 12.5mm and PG64-28 binder was used. Resilient modulus tests for a control mixture and WMA with 0.3% and 0.5% of Aspha-min were conducted. The results obtained by MEPDG after inputting the test output into the design indicated that the predicted rut depth of WMA using Aspha-min was much lower than that of control mixture, and showed that WMA was more resistant to rutting than control mixture.
The D-optimal design for the nonlinear model typically depends on the unknown parameters to be estimated. Therefore, it is strongly recommended in literature to use a sequential experimental design for estimating the parameters. In this paper two stage experimental design is discussed under many different circumstances including estimating parameters. The method is so universal to be applied to any mixture of objectives for any model including linear model. A hybrid approach is suggested to handle more than 2 objectives in two-stage experimental design. The design is discussed in approximate design framework.
