  • Subminiature devices such as Lab-on-a-chip and p-TAS(Micro Total Analysis System) have been intensively studied in biotechnology and chemistry, In many cases, a micromixer was widely used to mix different solutions for synthesizing novel materials. However, in microfluidic system, there is generally a laminar flow under very small Reynolds number so it is difficult to mix each solution perfectly. To settle this problem, we propose a new mixing mechanism which generates a horizontal and vertical multi-mixing (HVM) flow for effective mixing within a short mixing section. We evaluated the proposed mechanism using CFD analysis, and the results showed that the HVM mechanism had a relative high-effectiveness comparing to the existing methods.

  • In this study, shape optimization of micro-static mixer with a cantilever beam was accomplished for mixing the mixing efficiency by using successive response surface approximations. Variables were chosen as the length of cantilever beam and the angle between horizontal and the cantilever beam. Sequential approximate optimization method was used to deal with both highly nonlinear and non-smooth characteristics of flow field in a micro-static mixer. Shape optimization problem of a micro-static mixer can be divided into a series of simple subproblems. Approximation to solve the subproblems was performed by response surface approximation, which does not require the sensitivity analysis. To verify the reliability of approximated objective function and the accuracy of it, ANOVA analysis and variables selection method were implemented, respectively. It was verified that successive response surface approximation worked very well and the mixing efficiency was improved very much comparing with the initial shape of a micro-static mixer.

  • Thermal fluid mixing behavior during a postulated medium-size hot leg break loss of coolant accident is analyzed for the international comparative assessment study on pressurized thermal shock (PTS-ICAS) proposed by OECD-NEA. The applicability of RELAP5 code to analyze thermal fluid mixing behavior is evaluated through a simple modeling relevant to the problem constraints. Based on the calculation result, the onset of Thermal stratification is investigated using Theofanous's empirical correlation. Sensitivity calculations using a fine node model and crossflow model are also performed to evaluate the modeling capability on multi-dimensional characteristics related to thermal fluid mixing.

  • In Color AC Plasma Display Panel(PDP). Low luminous efficiency is a major problem. We measured luminous efficiency of PDP as a function of the Ar mixing ratio. Our results show that efficiency has improved by $5{\sim}10%$ at the condition of 0.5% Ar mixing ratio, compared with Ne-Xe(4%) or He-Ne-Xe(4%) (He:Ne = 7:3) gas.

  • Industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants produce large amounts of sludge cakes for final disposal. This problem is an inevitable drawback inherent to the activated sludge process. Both the reduction of the amount of sludge produced and improvement of its dewaterability are presently very important issue also in Korea. So many pre-treatment processes have been developed in order to improve sludge dewatering efficiency. In this study the effects of hydrogen peroxide and paper sludge mixing processes were considered as reasonable alternatives to enhance sludge dewaterability. The CST of sludge was significantly decreased, and dewaterability improved by hydrogen peroxide oxidation treatment. The optimum dosage of hydrogen peroxide was proved to be 10mg/g-TS (when TS of sludge was 2%) with the conditions of pH 4 and only 1~2 minutes of reaction time. The mixing of paper sludge with sewage sludge was turned out to be very effective in reduction of sludge cake; 30% of sludge cake reduction was accomplished. Optimum mixing ratio of paper sludge was about 30%(v/v). This process also could save 25% of polymer to be required. These two alternatives are somewhat realistic, but it was concluded that paper sludge mixing process will be the best choice.

  • Recently retail market has been rapidly expanded in the large cities of in Korea and the competition among individual companies in retail market is also being increased. Tenant MD of mixing is one of the most important factor for the company to continuously operate or to fail. The aim of this study is to examine the processes of systematically evaluating the merchandising of the established companies in retail market a part of chain operation in discount store. The basic problem of decision making in general and tenant MD of mixing in particular is to choose a best one in a set of competing alternatives that are evaluated under conflicting criteria. The purpose of research of a paper carries out a duty searching examination with making a tenant MD include by retail research, simultaneously defined when I will show an example for the tenant mix of the profitability side of the domestic discount store market which is tenant MD importance proposing the existing problem arrangement by chain operation management, and is intensifying - tenant MD of standardization in discount store of T-company.

  • Recently, the enviroment problem is serious due to the global warming phenomenon because of the greenhouse gas exhaustion. In addition, the effort to reduce the problem in the situation where the severity of the destruction of environment because of the indiscriminate picking of the that is the raw material of the cement, Accordingly, in the interior of a country, the industrial site using the artificial stone instead of the natural stone is increased. Thus the cement reduction amount of use and substitute material research is the urgent actual condition with the gas emission, which here it is generated in conducting compression molding in the building stone manufacturing process performance degradation phenomenon and fire resistance, and problem of the durability. limestone and aggregate and exhaustion of resource are emphasized is continued. In this research, the fly ash and waste porcelain is applied to the magnesia phosphate composite (MPC) and the characteristic of the artificial stone according to it tries to be looked into.

  • There will be a big problem in disposing of waste tie coming from the cars. Because many of these have been thrown away to the field and environmentally polluted. New, We need to find out how to dispose or recycle these waste material. It is thought that recycling this material especially mixing with concrete will be a good idea. This study is focused how each material do its behavior due to the size of waste type particle and its amount into concrete material. 0.4mm-10mm range of particle has been applied to the material : Also, 1.0%, 1.5%, 2.0% range of tyre particle proportion has been applied to make cylinder molds. The concrete mold with waste-tyre particle has vibration-absorbing ability. It is found that 0.4 -0.6mm particle mixing concrete has been more solid organized. And this waste tyre material could be applied to the general concrete, it is found.

  • Detection in remotely sensed images can be conducted spatially, spectrally or both [2]. If the images have high spatial resolution, materials can be detected by using spatial and spectral information, unless we can't see the object embedded in a pixel. In this paper, we intend to solve the limit of spatial resolution by using the hyperspectral image which has high spectral resolution. Therefore, the Linear Spectral Mixing(LSM) Model which is sub-pixel detection algorithm is used to solve this problem. To find class Endmembers, we applied Geometric Model with MNF(Minimum Noise Fraction) transformation. From the result of sub-pixel detection algorithm, we can see the detection of water is satisfied and the object shape cannot be extracted but the possibility of material existence can be identified.

  • In this paper, attitude computation algorithm for a strap down ARS(Attitude Reference System)of an underwater vehicle has been studied. Attitude errors o the ARS using low-level gyroscopes tend to increase with time due to gyroscope errors. To cope with this problem, a mixing algorithm of accelerometer aided attitude computation has been developed. The algorithm can successfully bound the error increase for cruising motion, but it gives instantaneously large errors when a vehicle maneuvers. To improve the performance in case of vehicle's maneuver, a new attitude computation mixing algorithm complying state of vehicle and to manage the adjustment of the gains which are invariant in the existing algorithm. In addition, a gain scheduling method is applied to fuzzy inference composition process for real-time computation. Monte Carlo simulation results show that the proposed algorithm provides better performance than the existing algorithm.
