In this study we calculate the infite multiplication factors ($k_{\infty}$) and the Doppler temperature coefficients (DTC) of two mixed-oxide (MOX) fuel rods with different plutonium contents by using PHOENIX-P, HELIOS and CASMO-3 codes. The results were compared against the reference values obtained by MCNP-3A continuous-energy Monte Carlo code. The purpose of this study is to benchmark the accuracy of these lattice codes. The PHOENIX-P's Doppler coefficients calculated were in good agreement with the MCNP results within the Monte-Carlo uncertainty band which is in the order of $\pm$ 10% for the Doppler coefficients..

In this study, numerical model was developed to predict behavior of several layers in a solar pond and was solved by finite difference method. The empirical correlation that described heat and salt fluxes across interfacial boundary layer between mixed layer and diffusive layer in a solar pond were obtained from experiments and utilized in developing numerical model. As the results of this study, heat and salt fluxes across the interfacial boundary layer was found to depend on density ratio ${\beta}{\Delta}M_s/{\alpha}{\Delta}T.$ It was also found that the predicted value obtained by using the modified Weinberger's stability criteria showed a good agreement with experiment data.
Purpose: To identify user requirements for electronic nursing record (ENR) systems so as to ensure system usability. Methods: A mixed methods approach were applied in three steps : (i) task and workflow analysis with literature review of nursing documentation, (ii) literature reviews of system usability, and (iii) Use Case idenfication and consensus-based validation. We analyzed the nursing activity logs collected from a time-motion investigation of six hospitals. The Use Cases were validated by eight clinical experts from different hospitals and two experts from academia in a sequential Delphi survey. Consensus was achieved for the significance score and agreement among the panel. Results: Eight task groups and patterns of task flow were observed, which were translated into nine Use Cases. The specification of Use Cases was derived from principles, guidelines, and recommendations on nursing documentation and electronic health record systems, which was organized into three requirements of each Use Case: functionality, information, and design characteristics. Each Use Case achieved an agreement of 50~70%, and significance scores of 4 or 5 on a 5-point Likert scale. Conclusion: The nine Use Case identified were considered to be important and adequate in terms of both clinical and informatics contexts.
In this study, thirty-two stands in Kwangnung forest located in the central part of Korea were preferentially selected. In each stand, all stems for trees and shrubs were recorded by species and their girths were measured down to 5cm. In addition, several enviromental factors such as field soil pH, field soil moisture, soil compressibility, depth of soil, thickness of litter layer, elevation and basal area were measured. Three soil cores were sampled and various physical and chemcial properties was determined. The vegetational data were subjected to three kinds of multivariate ordination(PO, PCA, RA). The results suggested that Kwangnung forest was consisted of three forest types: coniferous, mixed and broad leaved forest communities. The relation between the stand scores of ordination and several environmental factors were investigated in terms of correlation analysis in order to examine the relationships between the vegetation and certain environmental factors. As a result of this analysis, the amount of sand content in A1 horizon decreased frm the coniferous to broad leaved forest, while maximum field capacity, pore space, exchangeable cations, loss on ignition, soil pH nad the amount of total nitrogen had a tendancy to increase significantly. However, easily soluble phosphorus appeared to have little to do with the forest types. The result of species ordination of centered-standardized PCA suggested that the major successional pathway in Kwangnung forest was; Pinus densifloralongrightarrowQuercus mongolica, Q. serrata, Q. alienalongrightarrowCarpinus laxifloralongrightarrowC. erosa in sequence. This trend is in good agreement with the past studies. In three kinds of ordination (centered PCA, centered-standardized PCA and RA) based on nineteen species and twenty-five stands, the total variances accounted for the first three axes were 77%, 46% and 63% respectively. The estimated beta diversity in Kwangnung forest assumed as a coenocline, was 1.5~1.8 HC. Increasing the effect of the sampling errors on ordination perfermance, this low heterogeneity seems to cause the poor concentration of the total variance. The results from the four kinds of ordination were in good agreement with each other, especially between PO, centered-standardized PCA and RA appeared robust. It seems to be worthy of applying multivariate method for analyzing other forest communities in Korea.

This paper studies the applicability of the method of caustics into anisotropic materials under mode I and mixed static loading conditions and introduces the procedure to obtain stress intensity factors(S.I.F.) in anisotropic materials by the method of caustics. The mapping equations for initial and caustic curves in anisotropic materials were introduced and their computer graphical images were compared to the experimental ones to check the validity of the mapping equations proposed in this paper. The agreement between them was found to satisfactory. Two kinds of method to determine S.I.F. in anisotropic materials by the method of caustics were proposed in this paper and applied into the orthotropic materials under various loading conditions. In the case of mode I loading condition, the S.I.F.'s obtained by this paper's methods were found to be quite similar to the results by other method, boundary element method(B.E.M) and in the case of mixed loading condtion, the S.I.F's by this paper and B.E.M. showed a little differences(2.2-24.4%) with respect to the slanted angle of crack.
The microstructural changes of Fe-20Mn-12Cr-1Cu alloy have been studied during high temperature gas nitriding (HTGN) at the range of $1000^{\circ}C{\sim}1150^{\circ}C$ in an atmosphere of nitrogen gas. The mixed microstructure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite of as-received alloy was changed to austenite single phase after HTGN treatment at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer, however the interior region that was not affected nitrogen permeation remained the structure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite. With raising the HTGN treatment temperature, the concentration and permeation depth of nitrogen, which is known as the austenite stabilizing element, were increased. Accordingly, the depth of austenite single phase region was increased. The outmost surface of HTGN treated alloy at $1000^{\circ}C$ appeared Cr nitride. And this was in good agreement with the thermodynamically calculated phase diagram. The grain growth was delayed after HTGN treatment temperature ranges of $1000^{\circ}C{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ due to the grain boundary precipitates. For the HTGN treatment temperature of $1150^{\circ}C$, the fine grain region was shown at the near surface due to the grain boundary precipitates, however, owing to the depletion of grain boundary precipitates, coarse grain was appeared at the depth far from the surface. This depletion may come from the strong affinity between nitrogen and substitutional element of Al and Ti leading the diffusion of these elements from interior to surface. Because of the nitrogen dissolution at the nitrogen-permeated surface layer by HTGN treatment, the surface hardness was increased above 150 Hv compared to the interior region that was consisted with the mixed microstructure of austenite and ${\varepsilon}$-martensite.

This paper focuses on the study of complete dynamic modeling and maximum dynamic load carrying capacity computation of N-flexible links and N-flexible joints mobile manipulator undergoing large deformation. Nonlinear dynamic analysis relies on the Timoshenko theory of beams. In order to model the system completely and precisely, structural and joint flexibility, nonlinear strain-displacement relationship, payload, and non-holonomic constraints will be considered to. A finite element solution method based on mixed method is applied to model the shear deformation. This procedure is considerably more involved than displacement based element and shear deformation can be readily included without inducing the shear locking in the element. Another goal of this paper is to present a computational procedure for determination of the maximum dynamic load of geometrically nonlinear manipulators with structural and joint flexibility. An effective measure named as Moment-Height Stability (MHS) measure is applied to consider the dynamic stability of a wheeled mobile manipulator. Simulations are performed for mobile base manipulator with two flexible links and joints. The results represent that dynamic stability constraint is sensitive when calculating the maximum carrying load. Furthermore, by changing the trajectory of end effector, allowable load also changes. The effect of torsional spring parameter on the joint deformation is investigated in a parametric sensitivity study. The findings show that, by the increase of torsional stiffness, the behavior of system approaches to a system with rigid joints and allowable load of robot is also enhanced. A comparison is also made between the results obtained from small and large deformation models. Fluctuation range in obtained figures for angular displacement of links and end effector path is bigger for large deformation model. Experimental results are also provided to validate the theoretical model and these have good agreement with the simulated results.
The critical micelle concentrations($CMC^*$) of a cationic surfactant cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and a nonionic surfactant triton X-100(TX-100) in aqueous solutions of n-alcohols(methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol and 1-pentanol) were determined by UV spectroscopic method at 25$^{\circ}C$. The various thermodynamic values in 0.1 M n-alcohols were calculated by means of the equation derived from the pseudo-phase separation model and compared with the values in the absence of n-alcohols. The results were a good agreement with the nonideal mixed micelle model, and they showed negative deviation from the ideal behavior.

Mixed mode surface crack in finite-width plate subjected to uniform tension and bending has been analyzed in 3-D problem by using boundary element method. The calculations were carried out for the surface crack angles(.a/pha.) of 0.deg., 15.deg., 30.deg., 45.deg., 60.deg., and 75.deg., and for the aspect ratio(a/c) of 0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 1.0 to get stress intensity factors at the boundary points of the surface crack. For the aspect ratio of 1.0 and the surface crack angles, finite element method was used to check the results in this study. Comparison of the results from both methods showed good agreement.

The problem of electromagnetic coupling into a thin conducting wire through a slot in an infinite conducting is analyzed by use of MPIE(mixed potential integral equation) and two- dimensional moment method using subsectional(rooftop) basis functions. The equivalent circuit is derived using a center-repesentation method which is valid in a narrow slot case. The equi- valent magnetic currents on the slot and the induced currents on the wire are caculated respec- tively, for the TM wave is incident upon the slot with arbitrary angle of incidence. The theoretical transmission coefficients of transmission line which is composed of thin-wire and infinite conducting plate with a narrow slot are compared and found to be in good agreement with experimental results.
