A method of multiple transport-aircraft mission modeling is proposed in order to improve the efficiency of evaluating and optimizing pre-mission plans. To deal with the challenge of multiple transport-aircraft missions, the object-oriented modeling method is utilized. The elements of the mission are decomposed into objects and businesses, And the major mission objects and their important properties are summarized. A complex mission can be broken down into basic business modules such as the ground section and flight section. The business models of loading and fueling services in the ground section are described. The business model of the flight section is composed of an air route and flight profile with the flight equation and the fuel consumption model. The logical relationship of objects and business modules is introduced. The architecture of the simulation system, which includes a database, computation module, graphical user interface (GUI) module, and a result analysis module, is established. A sample case that includes two different plans is provided to verify the model's ability to achieve multi-aircraft composite mission simulation.
The Korean first geostationary meteorological satellite, COMS, will be launched during second half of 2009. For the next meteorological geostationary satellite mission, KARI is now preparing the development process and tools. As one of the endeavor, a software tool is being developed for the analysis and design of geostationary transfer orbit. Generally, these kind of tools should be able to do various analysis works like apogee burn planning, dispersion analysis, ground visibility analysis, and launch window analysis etc. In this presentation, a brief introduction about a design process and analysis software tool development. And simulated calculation results are provided for the geostationary transfer orbit. These software can be used for the next geostationary satellite mission design and development.

Preparing for future Korean Lunar missions, preliminary Lunar mission design software is developed using a impulsive thrusting method. Developed software is capable of design and analysis every required mission phases to design Lunar mission, including the Earth departure, Lunar transfer, Lunar arrival and mission operation phases. Also, assuming that KSLV-II is selected as a launch vehicle, future Korean Lunar explorer's mass budget is estimated based on driven optimal trajectory characteristics. Tracking analysis is also performed using Deep Space Network including angle geometry analysis between Earth - Moon - Lunar explorer - Sun which are very important for communication, solar panel pointing strategy and eclipse analysis when Lunar missions are under designing phase.
It must be possible to assess how combat actions taking place in cyberspace affect the military's major mission systems and weapon systems. In order to analyze the mission impact caused by a cyber attack through cyber M&S, the target mission system and cyber warfare elements must be built as a model and a scenario for simulation must be authored. Many studies related to mission impact analysis due to cyber warfare have been conducted focusing on the United States, and existing studies have authored separate scenarios for physical battlefields and cyber battlefields. It is necessary to build a simulation environment that combines a physical battlefield model and a cyber battlefield model, and be able to integrate and author mission scenarios and cyber attack/defense scenarios. In addition, the physical battlefield and cyber battlefield are different work areas, so authoring two types of scenarios for simulation is very complicated and time-consuming. In this paper, we propose a method of using mission system information to prepare the data needed for scenario authoring in advance and using the pre-worked data to author an integrated scenario. The proposed method is being developed by reflecting it in the design of the scenario authoring tool, and an integrated scenario authoring in the field of counter-fire warfare is being performed to prove the proposed method. In the future, by using a scenario authoring tool that reflects the proposed method, it will be possible to easily author an integrated scenario for mission impact analysis in a short period of time.

The South Korean Navy is making efforts to acquire vessels that the new technology of the 4th industry is applied, and as a part of these efforts, it has a plan to mount and operate an Unmanned Surface Vehicle(USV) on a vessel that will be introduced later. However, the recent studies have focused on only development of common platforms and mission equipment for the USV, and have not sufficiently analyzed studies and operatinoal requirements on mother ship that will operate the mounted USV. Hence, this study analyzed and presented requirements of mother ship with the mounted USV in order to operate effectively it when the future medium and large vessels to be acquired by the South Korean Navy intent to operate the USV.

KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) is developing a design framework for the concept and preliminary design of eVTOL aircrafts. A low fidelity mission analysis tool was developed for the eVTOL aircrafts of Lift-Tilt Concept, which have tilt propellers and lift propellers, using open source SUAVE package. For its development, a review for the propeller performance analysis functionality was made. To find the trim solution at each mission segment automatically, an algorithm is implemented, using a global optimization technique through parallel processings and DOE(design of experiment). Using the tool, the one seated eVTOL OPPAV(optionally piloted personal air vehicle) was modeled and evaluated, which results were compared with the preliminary design data.
Human powered aircraft (HPA) is an airplane that uses only human power for its propulsion. The human power as a power resource and an engine produce the available power that is very crucial to the success of the HPA. In the present paper, the human power characteristics for completing the mission profile are discussed focusing on the take-off and climbing performance. The mission profile is designed by using an athlete's power generation. It is believed that present analysis can be helpful for the mission profile design and athletes exercise program development for the HPA competitions.
Mission autonomy system should be embedded on UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) for mosaic warfare where UAVs autonomously assign tasks to themselves. UxAS (Unmanned x-systems Autonomy Service) proposed by Air Force Research Laboratory is mission autonomy system for unmanned platforms. UxAS has extensible structure composed of numerous module services. However, UxAS can conduct mission autonomy process only when an operator sends an autonomy request. In this paper, We analyze the process of mission autonomy in UxAS, and propose an improved structure of UxAS where mission autonomy process is autonomously triggered by situation awareness service without the request of the operator. The proposed process was validated by simulation.

Aircraft survivability is determined by the susceptibility and the vulnerability. The aircraft susceptibility and vulnerability depend upon the hardware and software factors. Each of the hardware and software factors consisted of the qualitative and quantitative attributes varies according to the time of the mission. In order to establish the mathermatical model to analyze and evaluate the aircraft survivability, qualitative factors have to be transformed into quantitative factors. Even if many researches in the area of dynamic concept analysis and conversion of qualitative factors into the quantitative factors has been insufficient. This research enhances these insufficient area by developing a reliable aircarft survivability analysis method. The major areas of this research are as follows. First, a method for the conversion of the qualitative factors into the quantitative factors is developed by combining the Fuzzy Set Theory concept and the Delphi Technique. Second, by using the stochastic network diagram for the dynamic survivability analysis, the aircraft survivability and the probability of kill are calculated from the state probability for the situation during mission. The advantage of the analysis technique developed in this research includes ease of use and flexibility. In other words, in any given aircraft's mission execution under any variable probability density function, the developed computer program is able to analyze and evaluate the aircraft survivability.
