Widely used among the various single imputation methods is k-nearest neighbors (KNN) imputation due to its robustness even when a parametric model such as multivariate normality is not satisfied. We propose a weighted adaptive nearest neighbors imputation method that combines the adaptive nearest neighbors imputation method that accounts for the local features of the data in the KNN imputation method and weighted k-nearest neighbors method that are less sensitive to extreme value or outlier among k-nearest neighbors. We conducted a Monte Carlo simulation study to compare the performance of the proposed imputation method with previous imputation methods.

A number of studies have evidenced the effect of modifiable lifestyle factors such as diet, breastfeeding and nutritional status on breast cancer risk. However, none have addressed the missing data problem in nutritional epidemiologic research in South America. Missing data is a frequent problem in breast cancer studies and epidemiological settings in general. Estimates of effect obtained from these studies may be biased, if no appropriate method for handling missing data is applied. We performed Multiple Imputation for missing values on covariates in a breast cancer case-control study of $C{\acute{o}}rdoba$ (Argentina) to optimize risk estimates. Data was obtained from a breast cancer case control study from 2008 to 2015 (318 cases, 526 controls). Complete case analysis and multiple imputation using chained equations were the methods applied to estimate the effects of a Traditional dietary pattern and other recognized factors associated with breast cancer. Physical activity and socioeconomic status were imputed. Logistic regression models were performed. When complete case analysis was performed only 31% of women were considered. Although a positive association of Traditional dietary pattern and breast cancer was observed from both approaches (complete case analysis OR=1.3, 95%CI=1.0-1.7; multiple imputation OR=1.4, 95%CI=1.2-1.7), effects of other covariates, like BMI and breastfeeding, were only identified when multiple imputation was considered. A Traditional dietary pattern, BMI and breastfeeding are associated with the occurrence of breast cancer in this Argentinean population when multiple imputation is appropriately performed. Multiple Imputation is suggested in Latin America's epidemiologic studies to optimize effect estimates in the future.
Recently, data-driven decision-making technology has become a key technology leading the data industry, and machine learning technology for this requires high-quality training datasets. However, real-world data contains missing values for various reasons, which degrades the performance of prediction models learned from the poor training data. Therefore, in order to build a high-performance model from real-world datasets, many studies on automatically imputing missing values in initial training data have been actively conducted. Many of conventional machine learning-based imputation techniques for handling missing data involve very time-consuming and cumbersome work because they are applied only to numeric type of columns or create individual predictive models for each columns. Therefore, this paper proposes a new data imputation technique called 'Denoising Self-Attention Network (DSAN)', which can be applied to mixed-type dataset containing both numerical and categorical columns. DSAN can learn robust feature expression vectors by combining self-attention and denoising techniques, and can automatically interpolate multiple missing variables in parallel through multi-task learning. To verify the validity of the proposed technique, data imputation experiments has been performed after arbitrarily generating missing values for several mixed-type training data. Then we show the validity of the proposed technique by comparing the performance of the binary classification models trained on imputed data together with the errors between the original and imputed values.
Gene expression data is obtained through many stages of an experiment and errors produced during the process may cause missing values. Due to the distinctness of the data so called 'small n large p', genes have to be selected for statistical analysis, like classification analysis. For this reason, imputation and gene selection are important in a microarray data analysis. In the literature, imputation, gene selection and classification analysis have been studied respectively. However, imputation, gene selection and classification analysis are sequential processing. For this aspect, we compare the performance of classification methods after imputation and gene selection methods are applied to microarray data. Numerical simulations are carried out to evaluate the classification methods that use various combinations of the imputation and gene selection methods.
Canonical correlation biplot is a useful biplot for giving a graphical description of the data matrix which consists of the association between two sets of variables, for detecting patterns and displaying results found by more formal methods of analysis. Nevertheless, when some values are missing in data, most biplots are not directly applicable. To solve this problem, we estimate the missing data using the median, mean, EM algorithm and MCMC imputation methods according to missing rates. Even though we estimate the missing values of biplot of incomplete data, we have different shapes of biplots according to the imputation methods and missing rates. Therefore we use a RMS(root mean square) which was proposed by Shin et al. (2007) and PS(procrustes statistic) for measuring and comparing the shape variability between the original biplots and the estimated biplots.
The knowledge discovery from web has been studied in many researches. There are some difficulties using web log for training data on efficient information predictive models. In this paper, we studied on the method to eliminate sparseness from web log data and to perform web user clustering. Using missing value imputation by Bayesian inference of MCMC, the sparseness of web data is removed. And web user clustering is performed using self organizing maps based on 3-D plot by principal component. Finally, using KDD Cup data, our experimental results were shown the problem solving process and the performance evaluation.
Huang proposed a grey-based nearest neighbor approach to predict accurately missing attribute value in 2004. Our study proposes which way to decide the number of nearest neighbors using not only the dong's grey relational grade but also the wen's grey relational grade. Besides, our study uses not an arithmetic(unweighted) mean but a weighted one. Also, GRG is used by a weighted value when we impute a missing values. There are four different methods - DU, DW, WU, WW. The performance of WW(wen's GRG & weighted mean) method is the best of my other methods. It had been proven by Huang that his method was much better than mean imputation method and multiple imputation method. The performance of our study is far superior to that of Huang.

Imputation procedures such as fully efficient fractional imputation(FEFI) or multiple imputation(MI) can be used to construct complete contingency tables from samples with partially classified responses. Variances of FEFI estimators of population proportions are derived. Simulation results, when data are missing completely at random, reveal that FEFI provides more efficient estimates of population than either multiple imputation(MI) based on data augmentation or complete case analysis, but neither FEFI nor MI provides an improvement over complete-case(CC) analysis with respect to accuracy of estimation of some parameters for association between two variables like $\theta_{i+}\theta_{+i}-\theta_{ij}$ and log odds-ratio.
In this paper, we propose a Sequential Adaptive Nearest Neighbor(SANN) imputation method that combines the Adaptive Nearest Neighbor(ANN) method and the Sequential k-Nearest Neighbor(SKNN) method. When choosing the nearest neighbors of missing observations, the proposed SANN method takes the local feature of the missing observations into account as well as reutilizes the imputed observations in a sequential manner. By using a Monte Carlo study and a real data example, we demonstrate the characteristics of the SANN method and its potential performance.
Problems of incomplete data are pervasive in statistical analysis. In particular, incomplete data have been an important challenge in repeated measures studies. The objective of this study is to give a brief introduction to missing data mechanisms and conventional/recent missing data methods and to assess the performance of various missing data methods under ignorable and non-ignorable missingness mechanisms. Given the inadequate attention to longitudinal studies with missing data, this study applied recent advances in missing data methods to repeated measures models and investigated the performance of various missing data methods, such as FIML (Full Information Maximum Likelihood Estimation) and MICE(Multivariate Imputation by Chained Equations), under MCAR, MAR, and MNAR mechanisms. Overall, the results showed that listwise deletion and mean imputation performed poorly compared to other recommended missing data procedures. The better performance of EM, FIML, and MICE was more noticeable under MAR compared to MCAR. With the non-ignorable missing data, this study showed that missing data methods did not perform well. In particular, this problem was noticeable in slope-related estimates. Therefore, this study suggests that if missing data are suspected to be non-ignorable, developmental research may underestimate true rates of change over the life course. This study also suggests that bias from non-ignorable missing data can be substantially reduced by considering rich information from variables related to missingness.
