  • In this paper, we considered the one-shot alignment using master inertial navigation system (MINS) and slave inertial navigation system (SINS) in the missile to find the exact posture of a missile. In order to perform one-shot alignment, the tilt angle between MINS and SINS must be obtained, which can be compensated by obtaining the tilt angle between missile round and SINS. The tilt angle was calculated by using the roll rotation of missile round, jig for rotating the missile round and interface structure to measure the horizontal state by using a horizontal angle meter were constructed. As a result of the tilt angle save (TAS) inspection, the tilt angle ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$, ${\gamma}$ is normal range and it is possible to perform one-shot alignment by compensating this value.

  • The threat of North Korea's long-range firepower is recognized as a typical asymmetric threat, and South Korea is prioritizing the development of a Korean-style missile defense system to defend against it. To address this, previous research modeled North Korean long-range artillery attacks as a Markov Decision Process (MDP) and used Approximate Dynamic Programming as an algorithm for missile defense, but due to its limitations, there is an intention to apply deep reinforcement learning techniques that incorporate deep learning. In this paper, we aim to develop a missile defense system algorithm by applying a modified DQN with multi-agent-based deep reinforcement learning techniques. Through this, we have researched to ensure an efficient missile defense system can be implemented considering the style of attacks in recent wars, such as how effectively it can respond to enemy missile attacks, and have proven that the results learned through deep reinforcement learning show superior outcomes.

  • In this paper, in order to control uncertain missile autopilot, an adaptive fuzzy control(AEC) scheme via parallel distributed compensation(PDC) is developed for the multi-input/multi-output plants represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. Moreover adaptive law is designed so that the plant output tracks the stable reference model(SRM), From the simulations results, we can conclude that the suggested scheme can effectively solve the control problems of uncertain missile systems based on T-S fuzzy model.

  • In the previous paper, we presented a new guidance law for a missile during boost phase. Thus, this paper deals with the guidance law for a missile after the thrust cutoff against an accelerating and turning target. It is essentially based on the concept of proportional navigation. Some simulation studies were performed using a three dimensional mathematical model of an air-to-air missile and the effectiveness of the guidance law presented was shown.

  • An infrared seeking missile does not emit any signal by itself as it is guided by passive heat signature from an aircraft. Therefore, it is difficult for the target aircraft to notice the existence of incoming missile, making it a serious threat. The usage of MAW(missile approach warning) that can notify the approaching infrared seeking missile is currently limited due to its high cost. Furthermore, effectiveness of MAW against infrared seeking missile is not available in open literature. Therefore, effect of evasive maneuver by MAW on the survivability of the aircraft is simulated to evaluate the benefit of the MAW in this research. The lethal range is used as a measure of aircraft survivability. An aircraft flying at an altitude of 5km with Mach 0.9 being tracked by air-launched AIM-9 infrared seeking missile is considered in this research. As a variable for the evasive maneuver, the MAW recognition distance of 5~7km and the G-force of 3~7G that limits maximum directional change of the aircraft are considered. Simulation results showed that the recognition of incoming missile by MAW and following evasive maneuver can reduce the lethal range considerably. Maximum reduction in lethal range is found to be 29.4%. Also, the MAW recognition distance have a greater importance than the aircraft maneuverability that is limited by structural limit of the aircraft.

  • 6-DOF flight simulation program is most generally used M&S tool in domestic missile development procedure. The 6-DOF M&S method, however, cannot validate the performance of a imaging seeker-adopted missile in various conditions. A M&S tool for the analysis of the integrated-flight simulation is required since the tracking performance of the imaging seeker is highly dependent on the missile maneuvering, which introduces the displacement and rotation of the target in the seeker imagery. Through the development of the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile, Raybolt, the integrated-flight M&S tool was developed and applied to the missile configuration design. It integrates synthetic image generation S/W, imaging tracker, and flight simulation program and computes the main system performance criteria, hit probability by Monte-Carlo Simulation. In this paper, the issues in the $3^{rd}$ generation anti-tank missile configuration and the integrated-flight M&S method and results are described.

  • Reliability growth analysis was conducted for a guided weapons system. In the development phase, reliability management activities were continuously carried out by identifying failure modes and causes and analyzing faults found during the testing. The missile system consists of an all-up-round missile and a launcher, and the analysis was carried out according to the test results of each system. The test results for the all-up-round missile were obtained with discrete data, which were success and failure as a one-shot-device. The test results for the launcher were obtained with continuous data by operating the equipment continuously in the test. For each test result, the reliability growth model was applied to the Standard Gompertz model and the Crow-Extended model. The models were used to identify the growth analysis results of the test so far. It was also possible to predict the reliability growth results by assuming the future test results. The study results could be useful in achieving the desired reliability goal and in determining the number of tests. Then, the planned test will be confirmed and the growth analysis of the missile system will continuously be conducted.

  • The operation of the precision-guided missiles with seekers is becoming more and more dominant since the modern wars became geographically localized like anti-terror campaigns and civil wars. Imaging seekers are relatively low-price and applicable to various operational conditions. The image tracker, however, requires highly advanced method for the target tracking under harsh missile flight condition. Missile roll can reduce the tracking performance since it introduces big differences in imagery. The missile roll is inevitable because of the disturbance and flight control error. Consequently, the errors of the subsystems should be under control for the stable performance of the tracker and the whole system. But the performance prediction by some simple metric is almost impossible since the target signature and the tracker are highly nonlinear. We established M&S tool for a precision-guided missile with imaging seeker and analyzed the roll effects to tracking and system performance. Furthermore, we defined the specification of missile subsystems through error analysis to guarantee system performance.

  • Fighter jets employ guided missiles equipped with seekers to counter enemy air threats. Short range guided missiles(SRM) usually carry infrared(IR) seekers and are used to engage targets within visual range. On the other hand, medium range guided missiles(MRM) often utilize radio frequency(RF) seekers to engage targets beyond visual range. Medium range guided missiles do not activate their seekers until they reach the detection range of the seeker, and the aircraft's radar guides them for a certain distance. This guidance method is called Missile Data Link(MDL), and it can be implemented in either one-way or two-way communication modes, depending on the missile's communication system. In this paper, we discuss MDL based on these two communication modes, along with the integration of RADAR, mission computers, and guided missiles.
