  • It is known that adaptive minimum mean square error (MMSE) receivers exhibit better performance than coventional single-user code division multiple access (CDMA) receivers in fixed (or static) channels and have the simple structure compared to other multi-user CDMA receivers. In practice, the radio channels are fading channels where the amplitude and phase of the received signal are time-varying and the sufficient signal-to-noise ratio is not always guaranteed. Thus, the performance of adaptive MMSE receivers is severely degraded in fading environments. We propose a new structure and adaptation algorithm for an adaptive MMSE receivers. Based on computer simulation results, it is observed that the proposed receiver demonstrates substantial performance improvement over currently available adaptive MMSE receivers in fading environments.

  • In this paper, we extend SVR-MMSE detection scheme which is proposed in MIMO system to MIMO-OFDM system, and evaluate performance of the system in frequency selective fading channel. First of all, we explain about typical MIMO-OFDM system and detection scheme of constant modulus signals in this system. And compare proposed SVR-MMSE with Zero Forcing, Minimum Mean Square Error which is conventional detection scheme. we identify that the performance of the proposed system is shown different by varying doppler frequency in frequency selective fading channel using jakes channel model. The result of detection performance by the proposed SVR-MMSE in this simulation, it shows that proposed algorithm have a good performance in MIMO-OFDM systems.

  • In this paper, we derive the relationship between the bit error probability (BEP) of maximum a posteriori (MAP) bit detection and the bit minimum mean square error (MMSE), that is, the BEP is greater than a quarter of the bit USE and less than a half of the bit MMSE. By using this result, the lower and upper bounds of the derivative of the mutual information are derived from the BEP and the lower and upper bounds are easily obtained in the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication systems with the bit-linear linear-dispersion (BLLD) codes in the Gaussian channel.

  • This paper introduces a refined opportunistic interference alignment (OIA) technique that uses minimum mean square error (MMSE) detection at the receivers in multiple-input multiple-output multi-cell uplink networks. In the OIA scheme under consideration, each user performs the optimal transmit beamforming and power control to minimize the level of interference generated to the other-cell base stations, as in the conventional energy-efficient OIA. The result showed that owing to the enhanced receiver structure, the OIA scheme shows much higher sum-rates than those of the conventional OIA with zero-forcing detection for all signal-to-noise ratio regions.

  • In this paper, we evaluate and analyze representative estimation methods for the sparse channel. In order to evaluate error performance of matching pursuit(MP) and minimum mean square error(MMSE) algorithm, lower bound of MMSE is determined by Cramer-Rao bound and compared with upper bound of MP. Based on analysis of those bounds, mean square error of MP which is effective in the estimation of sparse channel can be larger than that of MMSE according to the number of estimated tap and signal-to-noise ratio. Simulation results show that the performances of both algorithm are reversed on the sparse channel with Rayleigh fading according to signal-to-noise ratio.

  • In a Multi-carrier modulation system, CP (Cyclic prefix) is inserted in the transmit tame in order to eliminate the ISI (Intersymbol Interference) and ICI (Interchannel Interference) caused by delay spread of a received signal, which in rum degrades the throughput of the system. TEQ (Time-domain equalizer) improves the system throughput by shortening the CIR (Channel Impulse Response) time and maintaining the CP length to the minimum regardless of the channel condition. In this paper, a new MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error) TEQ algorithm is proposed and its performance is analyzed in order to speed up computing the optimum tap coefficients of the equalizer by employing Newton method.

  • Spatial multiuser access is investigated for the reverse link of multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. In particular, we consider two alternative a aches to spatial multiuser access that adopt the same detection algorithm at the base station: one is a closed-loop approach based on singular value decomposition (SVD) of the channel matrix, whereas the other is an open-loop approach based in space-time block coding (STBC). We develop multiuser detection algorithms for these two spatial multiuser access schemes based on the minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. Then, we compare the bit error rate (BER) performance of the two schemes and a single-user MIMO scheme. Interestingly, it is found that the STBC approach can provide much better BER performance than the SVD approach as well as than a single-user MIMO scheme.

  • Wavelet packet modulation (WPM) is a multicarrier modulation (MCM) technique that has emerged as a potential alternative to the widely used orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) method. Because WPM has overlapped symbols, equalization cannot rely on the use of the cyclic prefix (CP), which is used in OFDM. This study applies linear minimum mean-square error (MMSE) equalization in the time domain instead of in the frequency domain to achieve low computational complexity. With a modest equalizer filter length, the imperfection of MMSE equalization results in subcarrier attenuation and noise amplification, which are considered in the development of a bit-loading algorithm. Analytical expressions for the bit error rate (BER) performance are derived and validated using simulation results. A performance evaluation is carried out in different test scenarios as per Recommendation ITU-R M.1225. Numerical results show that WPM with equalization-aware bit loading outperforms OFDM with bit loading. Because previous comparisons between WPM and OFDM did not include bit loading, the results obtained provide additional evidence of the benefits of WPM over OFDM.

  • In this paper, we analyze that co-channel interference mitigation algorithms MMSE (Minimum Mean Square Error), OC (Optimal Combining), ML (Maximum Likelihood) using 2.4Ghz in WBAN (Wireless Body Area Network) system. Also analyze that scenario and channel model by IEEE 802.15.6. ML gives the best performance for all simulation. ML and OC have high complexity than MMSE complexity, because these algorithms should be known channel information of interference users. So these algorithms are difficult to apply to WBAN. Therefore we will study the interference mitigation algorithm that should be accomplished trade-off of between efficiency and complexity.

  • In this paper, minimum mean-square-error (MMSE)-based transceiver processing of a bidirectional amplify-and-forward (AF) relay having multiple antennas is proposed. Besides, the optimal beamforming vectors of users are designed in the sense of the sum rate maximization. Simulation results show that the proposed relay processing can effectively reduce both co-channel interferences and self-interferences and that the proposed beamforming method is proper to the bidirectional communication employing the AF relay.
