4살령의 중성화된 암컷 미니어쳐 핀셔가 3년 5개월 동안의 지속적인 간효소 수치 상승으로 본원으로 내원하였다. 간효소 수치의 지속적인 상승은 반복적인 혈액검사를 통해 확인하였으며, 간효소 수치 상승 원인에 대한 정확한 진단을 위하여 추가적인 검사가 진행 되었다. 복부초음파검사에서 복강내의 어느 단면에서도 담낭을 확인할 수 없었다. 복부초음파검사에서 담낭의 무형성을 의심하였으며 컴퓨터단층촬영을 통해 담낭 무형성을 확인하였다. 이 증례는 미니어쳐 핀셔에서 컴퓨터단층촬영을 이용하여 담낭 무형성을 진단한 첫번째 증례보고이다.

암컷 4살령치 미니어쳐 핀셔가 간헐적인 기침 증상으로 본 원에 내원하였다. 흉부 방사선 검사와 초음파 검사를 통해 좌측 폐의 전엽이 경화되고 흉수가 동반된 것을 확인하고 개흉술을 통해 염전된 폐엽을 절제하였다. 본 증례는 흥부 초음파 검사를 통해 폐염전을 진단하여 신속히 수술적인 치료를 적용함으로써 좋은 예후를 얻을 수 있었다. 폐염전은 대형견종에서 호발하는 것으로 알려져 있으나 근래 소형 견종에서의 발생 보고가 증가하고 있다. 본 증례는 소형 견종 중 미니어쳐 핀셔에서는 처음 보고되는 폐염전 증례로 갑작스러운 호흡 곤란을 보이고 흉부 방사선 검사와 초음파 검사상 흉수와 폐경화, 비정상적인 폐엽의 방향 등의 이상 소견을 보이는 경우, 본 증례와 같이 이전에 폐염전이 발생한 보고가 없거나 드문 소형 견종에서도 폐염전을 감별 진단 리스트에 포함시켜야 할 것으로 생각한다.

A dog (5.6 kg, 4-year-old, castrated male, Miniature pinscher) with diffuse symmetric alopecia on the chest and excessive scales was referred to Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University, Korea. On physical examination, diffuse alopecia on ventral aspect of the neck and caudomedial thighs, and severe scales were presented. Dermatologic tests of lesions revealed bacterial infections. Histopathologically, atrophy of hair bulb was observed in the severely alopecic lesion of caudomedial thighs. ACTH stimulation test was performed to differentiate the endocrine disorder related to generalized alopecia. The pre-ACTH serum testosterone and progesterone concentrations were above normal ranges and the post-ACTH serum testosterone concentration was high. The pre- and post-ACTH serum estradiol and cortisol concentrations were within normal ranges. Canine pattern alopecia was diagnosed based on history, physical examination, hormonal assay and dermatohistopathologic examination. After 3 months of melatonin administration, multifocal alopecia on the trunk was improved and general hair regrowth was identified.

An eight-year old neutered male miniature pinscher dog was referred with a mass on the right frontal region. Radiography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examination were performed. Imaging results showed mineralized mass invaded frontal bone without brain parenchymal change and distant metastasis. The mass was removed mostly by surgical resection, and the dog was discharged without any complications. On the histopathological examination, the mass was diagnosed as grade I multilobular osteochondrosarcoma. Though the mass recurred after the surgical resection, the dog is still alive to date without metastasis.

A 4-year-old male Miniature Pinscher was referred because of head tilt, nystagmus, and ataxia. The hemogram revealed a moderate neutrophilic leukocytosis. On magnetic resonance imaging, cerebellar inflammation was detected. And cerebrospinal fluid analysis indicated marked neutrophilic pleocytosis. Based on these results, bacterial meningoencephalitis was suspected. The clinical signs were well controlled by a combination antibiotics therapy of the third generation cephalosporins (cefotaxime and cefixime) and metronidazole. We tentatively diagnosed this case as a bacterial meningoencephalitis because clinical signs were improved after only antibiotics therapy and relapsed when stopped antibiotics administrations, even though the result of bacterial culture on communication of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was negative.

A 17-year-old neutered male Miniature Pinscher dog presented with a mass on the left side of the submandibular region. Fine needle aspiration revealed malignant epithelial cells from the salivary gland but no evidence of metastasis was found on radiography, ultrasonography, or computed tomography. The cervical mass was surgically resected, and the histopathological examination confirmed adenocarcinoma of the mandibular salivary gland. Seven months after the initial diagnosis, the dog is alive without any clinical signs. This report describes the clinical findings, cytology, diagnostic imaging, and histopathological characteristics of a mandibular salivary gland adenocarcinoma in a Miniature Pinscher dog.

5개월간의 일시적인 기절현상(syncope)을 주증상으로 내원한 9개월령의 1.97kg 미니어쳐 핀셔견에서 호흡곤란, 심초음파에서의 현저한 심실/심방의 확장, 전반적인 심비대, 약한 맥박, 폐수종 등 DCM의 진단 지표를 기준을 통해 확장성 심근병을 진단하였다. 본 증례에서 심초음파 검사는 심장의 확장과 심무력을 유발하는 다른 심장 질환을 배제하고 DCM을 확진 하는데 중요한 역할을 하였다. 치료를 위해 산소공급과, nitroglycerine patch, furosemide, pimobendan, benazepril, potassium gluconate gel을 19일간 처방한 결과 초기 내원시 보였던 대부분의 임상증상이 개선되었다.

A female mixed miniature pinscher dog, about 5 years old, 4 kg, was referred to veterinary teaching hospital of Chungnam National University with chief complaint of excessive hemorrhagic vaginal discharge for a month, partial alopecia and hyperpigmentation. There are no specific change with CBC, blood chemistry and X-ray findings but we figured out high estrogen concentration with hormone analysis and detected a majority of the superficial epithelial cells with pyknotic nuclei by cytologic examination of vaginal smear preparation and multiple ovarian cysts on both ovaries by ultrasonography. Based on the clinical signs, hormone analysis, vaginal smear preparation and ultrasonography, the authors diagnosed this case as hyperestrogenism with ovarian cysts.

A 14-month-old, neutered female Miniature Pinscher was referred due to severe renal failure. The dog was treated with hysterotomy and followed by ovariohysterectomy (OHE) 6 days before the presentation. Excretory urographic and ultrasonographic studies revealed bilateral hydroureter and hydronephrosis. Postmortem necropsy revealed that ligatures were placed around the caudal portion of bilateral ureters in front of entrance into the bladder. This case shows that identifying and protecting the ureters are important during hysterotomy with OHE as well as OHE.
