A Study on Simulation of Piston Number for Development of Axial Piston Pump for Wheeled Armored Vehicle (차륜형 장갑차용 액시얼 피스톤 펌프 개발을 위한 피스톤 수에 대한 시뮬레이션에 관한 연구)

  • Axial piston pump is a significant part in wheeled armored vehicle, for generating hydraulic power of vehicle power system. The Axial Piston Pump is a high-performer, core functional item that is developed and applied to most of the military models in the development of military weapon systems. However, in the case of military equipment, there are conditions of limited size and weight required depending on the operating conditions and the operating environment. Under these conditions, it is required that the performance and the environmental resistance are verified to exert the required output. A unique technology is needed for the development of such equipment both in the present and in the future. Therefore, in this study, mathematical modeling of an axial piston pump is presented as a basic data for securing proprietary technology. In addition, a simulation model is designed and compared with the models of six kinds of pistons through simulation. It was established that when the number of pistons of the axial piston pump, which is the development objective, is seven, the model is suitable for the wheeled armored vehicle.

Improving the Efficiency of National Defense Transportation Information System by using ITS (ITS를 활용한 국방수송정보체계 효율성 증진에 관한 연구)

  • Currently, when the military performs military operations in wartime and peace time, it is important for him to obtain repeatedly updated traffic information for security of the military supply support. The purpose of this study is to present an acquisition way of the repeatedly updated traffic information which the military is available. To achieve this Purpose, firstly, this paper finded types of traffic information which the military demanded and limitations caused by an connection of traffic information network between the military and associated government agencies. Also. grasped ITS(Intelligent Transportation systems) equipment operation by associated government agencies (Ministry Construction & Transportation, Korea Highway Corporation, Seoul Metropolitan Government, National Police Agency, Korea Institute of Construction Technology) and connection situations of traffic information network among associated government agencies. On the basis of these materials, this study presented the most efficient connection method in the field of the space and the contents of traffic information between the military and associated government agencies and ITS connection system between the military and associated government agencies was contrived. Throughout the upper processes, this paper showed a method which is available for acquiring ITS traffic information of associated government agencies. In addition to the connection method of ITS traffic information network, resolutions for the problems caused by connection of ITS network were come up with. But the more deep study for this matter is needed since resolutions for the problems of the ITS network connection, which this paper presented, were very restricted.

Development of a Modular Building System for the BOQ Using Six-sigma (식스-시그마를 이용한 군 독신자 숙소용 모듈러 건축 시스템 개발)

  • Military Barracks and Bachelor Officer's Quarters are public buildings representing architectural characteristics with repeating the same room modules. These buildings require easy dismantling and reusing for the next generation' military re-organization. For these reasons, since 2005, the modular construction has been applied to military buildings. The most important factors required for modular military buildings are standardization, lowcost construction and reusable construction method. However, conventional modular building system have not been matched with these requirements. This study suggests a new modular system for Bachelor Officer's Quarters using Six-sigma design tool. To reflect the voices of customers, market study and surveys were carried out. Through the QFD, the voices of customers were converted into quality characteristics of building system for BOQ. The various design concepts meeting customer's requirement were derived by the QFD and Pugh matrix methodology. The proposed modular building system shows 80% increased factory production rate and 62% decreased weight of steel frame as compared with the conventional modular building system.

A Study for the Development Direction of Korean Military Geography (한국 군사지리학의 발전방향에 관한 연구)

  • Military Geography is a literature studying the application of geographical elements to military behaviour. The elements of military geography including topography greatly influences on building military art and theory. The military art applied on korean pennisula from the period of ancient three countries(Koguryeo, Shilla, Paekche) has been developed maintaining consistent stream reflecting topographic features. Despite the close relationship between building of military art and military geography's elements, the study for korean military geography has been depressed and the discourses of literature has been insufficient. But, in the western study of military geography, the study vitalization efforts studying military peace keeping and humanitarism activity are ongoing. Based on the current trend of western study and the analysis of existing korean study, this treatise proposes three plans to improve the study and education of korean military geography. The key contents of plans are comprised with the improvement of education curriculum, the construction of council between relevant organism, and the installation of subdivision in relevant geographical society. The possibility shaping up the identity of korean military geography as a common literature can be increased by enhancing the study toward peace and humanitarism and specifying the method for development as noted on this study.

  • The ROK military conluded that the dead of a young soldier, walking back to his unit was caused by a ricochet after carrying our some construction work near firing range in Gangwon Province in last Septemebr. But when it was revealed that he was hit by a stray bullet cause, this fact caused public fury. To solve these problems, we will analyze the individual fire shooting range of our military units from a safe perspective and propose ways to improve it by applying the cases of the United States, which are both permanent and scientific.

Military Load Classification (MLC) on Concrete Bridges in North Korea (북한 콘크리트 교량의 군용하중급수 평가)

  • For the last 60years, North Korea has constructed a lot of roadway bridges with different standard from that used in South Korea, and since North Korea prefer to take advantage of train more than truck for long distance transport, the construction and maintenance of roadway bridges have not been constructed effectively. Upon these situations, an exact evaluation of the resisting capacity for bridges in North Korea has been required to check of any bridge can be used in time of war. This paper introduces an evaluation of bridges in North Korea on the basis of Military Load Classification (MLC). Three different types of concrete bridges are considered, and the numerical analysis and design calculation give the military loadings which can pass through the bridges in North Korea.

  • The secret management of the Korea Military is one of the most significant operation. But the present method of the Korea Military requires much manpower and time, also the range of an object of administration become wider. In this study, We look into an instance of KIDA's 'The Secret Management System Construction Project' which was the first case to incorporate RFID in secret management system. From this instance, We analyze the effect of RFID on security operation in terms of the efficiency, accuracy and usability of security administration. We also present expected problems and possible solutions when it is extended to the field unit.

  • Military facilities with masonry have a great portion in the whole military facilities. But lots of them have been used for more than 20 years, the degree of deterioration of the facilities are serious. Futhermore, as insufficient budget for the facilities maintenance and poor maintenance, the performance of the aged masonry facilities have continually decreased. We suggest a structural performance assessment criteria for the military facility through literature review, interview with experts and questionnaire. The major assessment factors for the structural performance include the inclining and sinking degree of the facilities, durability of materials and resisting force of the structural members.

A Study on the Shipyard of the Costal Counties and the Naval Castle in the Southern Gyeongsang-do (경상도 남부지역 연해 군현과 수군영진의 선소(船所)에 관한 연구)

  • The Chosun Dynasty established and implemented measures to prevent Japanese invasion into the southern coast. To this end, the number of naval vessels and the number of ships were increased, and a shipyard(船所) was constructed to protect the safety of the vessels. The shipyard is a port facility where military vessels are anchored and repaired, as well as public facilities that are needed for military training on public and land, as well as facilities for storing supplies and equipment needed for ships on land and defense at the port entrance. Despite being such an important facility for national defense, Shipyard has not been noticed. Studies have shown that the position of shipyard is divided into the riverside type and the riverbank type, which is due to the topographical features of Korea. The repair cycle of naval vessels, the carrying out of Yeonhun(prevent the water from decaying the part of the ship, a raw tree was burned to smoke) and the place of sea training also affected the construction of the Gul River(掘江). The space structure of shipyard is divided into port entry facilities for monitoring and controlling at the entrance to the harbor, border facilities for folding and repairing military vessels, and land facilities for holding land exercises and administrative work of military vessels and military equipment.
