  • 최근에 위성용 필터로서 유전체 공진기 내장 도파관 필터가 많이 연구되고 있다. 이 필터의 튜닝을 위하여 튜닝 스크류가 일반적으로 사용되어져 왔는데 튜닝 스크류의 사용은 복잡한 필터의 튜닝 시 너무 소모적인 작업을 야기시키고 미세한 튜닝에 어려움이 있어서 다른 해결책을 필요로 한다. 또한 제품의 사용 시에는 온도등의 외부환경의 변화에 대하여 대처를 하기 위하여 전기적인 튜닝을 이용한 튜닝의 자동화에 대한 필요성이 대두되었다. 이에 대한 해결책으로 BST($Ba_xSr_{1-x}TiO_3$)라는 강유전체를 이용하는 튜닝에 대하여 소개하고 한 경우에 대하여 FDTD 방시의 EM 시뮬레이션을 구하여 그 결과로서 전기저인 필터 튜닝의 가능성을 보여준다.

  • The moderate power (500 W) Microwave Induced Plasma was generated with helium gas and was used for the direct analysis of aqueous samples. Usually, the helium plasma obtained with a modified Beenakker type cavity forms a cylindrical one. Though, by the careful controls of gas flows, a "toroidal" shape plasma could be made but its analytical performances were found to be worse. Using the glass frit nebuliser, the detection limits for metal ions obtained were around 10~100 ppb and that for chloride was about 50ppm.

  • In measuring the microwave surface resistance of high-Tc superconductor (HTS) films using the dielectric-loaded cavity resonator method, one of the most important factors that limit the measurement sensitivity is the measurement error in the loss tangent ($tan\delta$) of the dielectric rod placed inside the cavity. We have measured the effective surface resistance ( $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$) of$ YBa_2$$_Cu3$$_{7-{\delta}}$ (YBCO) films and the $tan\delta$ of rutile ($TiO_2$) using the 'two-tone'method suggested by Kobayashi et at. [IEEE, MTT-S Digest, 495, (2001)], which enables simultaneous measurements of both the $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$ fof HTS films and the $tan\delta$ of the rutile with high sensitivity. A rutile-loaded cavity resonator with the $TE_{012}$ and $TE_{021}$ resonant frequencies at 13.67 - 14.01 GHz is used for this purpose. At temperatures where the two modes do not couple with other modes, the $R_{S}$ $^{eff}$ of YBCO films and $tan\delta$ of rutile measured by the two-tone method appear to match well with the corresponding values measured using the reported $tan\delta$ values of sapphire within 10 %. Usefulness of the 'two-tone' method for microwave characterization of HTS films and dielectrics is discussed.d.ielectrics is discussed.ussed.

  • Latching optical switches and optical logic gates with AND or OR, and the INVERT functionality are demonstrated, for the first time, by the monolithic integration of a differential typed vertical cavity laser with depleted optical thyristor (VCL-DOT) structure with a low threshold current of 0.65 mA, a high slope efficiency of 0.38 mW/mA, and high sensitivity to input optical light. Many kinds of logic functions (AND, OR, NAND, NOR, and INVERT) are experimentally demonstrated using a differential switching operation scheme changing the intensity of a reference input beam without any changes of electrical circuits.

  • In this paper, the novel microwave oscillator incorporating a planar cavity resonator(PCR) is presented to reduce the phase noise of the oscillator in a planar environment. Compared to the conventional planar( $\lambda$/4 open stub resonator), the phase noise is improved about 16 dBc/Hz @100 kHz. The design of the oscillator is based on a reflection type configuration using the low 1/f SiGe HBT transistor(LPT16ED). The output power is measured 2.76 dBm at 12.5 GHz. In this paper, the oscillator used to the PCR can be expected to provide a solution for low phase noise oscillator in microwave circuits.

  • A circularly polarized microstrip patch antenna (MPA) using electromagnetic (EM) coupled fed method is analyzed in view of the two types of coupling mechanisms viz. cavity and parasitic type, proposed earlier. The patch-ground plane distance is varied in order to achieve the fore-mentioned types of couplings. For each case of patch-ground plane distance, the offset position of feedline is optimized for perfect matching and the boresight axial ratio (AR) is observed. It is seen that CP operation is possible only for cavity-type coupling (smaller patch-ground plane distances). The simulated results for the boresight AR for the two types of coupling mechanisms are presented.

  • The application of microwave technology to synthesis of polymer in solvent media has been shown by the synthesis of copper phthalocyanine (CUPc). The increase of synthetic yield-was demonstrated successfully in this study. A power variable microwave synthetic system has been developed with modifying cavity of domestic microwave oven and attaching microwave power controller. The properties of the specimen synthesized at various condition under the conventional thermal processing and microwave processing has been characterized by the means of chemical analysis, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and particle size analysis (PSA).

  • In this paper, a UHF cavity-backed spiral antenna for partial discharge diagnosis is proposed. The proposed antenna consists of two-arm Archimedean spiral, a cavity, and a balun for feeding. The spiral antenna is designed for 0.3-1.5 GHz operating frequency. Two spiral arms of the proposed antenna are fed by a microstrip tapered-balun. In order to enhance the gain, the cavity is located in the back side of the spiral pattern. The proposed antenna is designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio. The designed antenna is also fabricated and tested to validate performance. The measured radiation patterns are directional to the +z-axis and measured peak gain is 9.92 dBi.

  • The dispersion relation and the characteristic of propagation are measured. The measurements of the dispersion relation are observed by a plunger method employed in slow plasma density by pumping microwaves on the axis are observed in plasma loaded slow wave structure. In case of small incident microwave powers the well known plasma density cavity are observed. At the axial positions of minimal radius in the waveguides, the maxima og the electron density, the plasma potential and the RF electric field are observed in cases of high-power microwaves.

  • Fly ash 70wt% contained green bodies were sintered by using a 2.45 Ghz microwave oven and their properties were investigated. Samples were sintered at 1,150$^{\circ}C$ and kept at that temperature up 50 minutes by 10 minutes intervals. Numerical analysis on the microwave heated system was carried out in order to figure out the heat transfer phenomena in the cavity.
